Sweet Rebirth: The Little Healer
Chapter 445: Proactive
She was just in too much of a hurry. By the time she reached Zhao Nuan Yang, she was too out of breath to speak.
Zhao Nuan Yang found it a bit amusing, watching her try to speak while still gasping for air. He stood in front of her and waited patiently. He had grown quite familiar with the round-faced young woman he saw every morning. ’Perhaps we can even be considered friends now.’
Once Pan Ling’er’s breathing had stabilized a bit, Zhao Nuan Yang asked, "Mr. Pan, did you need something from me?"
"Mhm!" Pan Ling’er nodded. "The main gate... At the main gate! Your older sister and younger sister are here to bring you lunch. But because Uncle Xu doesn’t recognize them, he can’t let them in. You need to go confirm their identities and sign before they’re allowed inside."
"Huh?" Zhao Nuan Yang was taken aback. He never would have imagined his sister and younger sister would come. "Thank you, Mr. Pan. I’ll head to the main gate right away."
With that, Zhao Nuan Yang was already running off like a gust of wind, eager to see his sisters.
Pan Ling’er’s eyes sparkled. ’Not only is he handsome, but his legs are so long, too! No wonder he runs so fast!’
Pan Ling’er wanted to follow, but her two colleagues had already caught up to her, so she could only continue her patrol inside the museum. Still, she kept turning to look toward the museum’s main entrance, hoping to catch a glimpse of Zhao Nuan Yang.
Zhao Nuan Yang ran to the main gate. Despite his speed, his breathing was steady. Seeing his sister and Little Red Carp, he broke into a wide smile. "Sis, Little Red Carp, what... what are you guys doing here?"
Little Red Carp spoke up first. "Brother, Sis and I saw you’ve gotten thin from being so tired lately, so we made you some delicious braised pork and brought it over."
Hearing the conversation between Little Red Carp and Zhao Nuan Yang, Uncle Xu chuckled. "Mr. Zhao Nuan Yang, since you know them, come over and sign them in. But they’re limited to the public areas. They can’t go anywhere else!"
"Yes, I understand, Uncle Xu." Zhao Nuan Yang nodded, his eyes sparkling with delight.
’It feels so wonderful to be thought of by my sisters!’
Zhao Nuan Yang signed his name, and Zhao Nuanyue also signed her name, work unit, and her relationship to Zhao Nuan Yang. As Little Red Carp was still a child, she didn’t need to be registered.
"Nuanyang, you haven’t eaten yet, have you?" Zhao Nuanyue asked. "I brought a lot of food. Where do you think would be a good place to eat?"
"Not yet. I was just grabbing my lunch box and about to head to the cafeteria when Pan Ling’er told me you were here, so I rushed over," Zhao Nuan Yang said with a smile. "It’s too cold to eat outside. Let’s go to the cafeteria. It might be crowded, but there should be a spot!"
"Alright, the cafeteria it is. We don’t want to go anywhere else anyway, in case we cause trouble for you." Zhao Nuanyue nodded. ’In a museum, even an inconspicuous object could be important. I don’t want Zhao Nuan Yang to get in trouble because of me and Little Red Carp!’
"Okay, sounds good." Zhao Nuan Yang took the bag from his sister’s hand and led them to the cafeteria.
They happened to run into Pan Ling’er, who had deliberately patrolled back that way. Zhao Nuan Yang gave her a nod and continued on with his sisters.
The enthusiastic Little Red Carp even waved at Pan Ling’er!
This made Pan Ling’er so happy, and she quickly waved back. ’Little Red Carp is so cute!’
After they had been loitering at the cafeteria entrance for two minutes, one of the bodyguards said quietly, "Little Pan, shouldn’t we be patrolling somewhere else?"
Pan Ling’er had long since lost any interest in patrolling. Her mind was completely focused on spending more time with Zhao Nuan Yang and his family.
So, Pan Ling’er thought for a moment, rubbed her stomach, and said, "Oh no, I didn’t eat enough for lunch today. I’m hungry. I want to go to the cafeteria and get something to eat."
"Huh?" The bodyguard was astonished. Pan Ling’er had just eaten two bowls of rice and a huge plate of food; how could she be hungry so easily? "But we just finished eating not long ago!"
Pan Ling’er had never lied before, but she desperately wanted to be with Zhao Nuan Yang. So, bracing herself, she said, "Li, Wu, you guys go on patrol. I’m just going to get a bite to eat in the cafeteria. Let’s meet back here in half an hour!"
With that, Pan Ling’er had already run toward the cafeteria, quickly disappearing through its entrance.
The bodyguard called Li shook his head and chuckled. "Sigh, it’s not like Ling’er is actually hungry. It’s obvious that she’s..."
"Heh, you noticed too?" Wu asked, his expression a little strange. ’The boss told us to protect Pan Ling’er. He’s super protective of his ’little sister.’ Now that there’s a hint of... something, should we report it?’
Li thought for a moment, then shook his head. "Let’s not say anything for now. First, let’s investigate the background of that guy, Zhao Nuan Yang. We’ll keep observing, and we can report it once we’re more certain. Otherwise, we might cause a huge misunderstanding. If the boss asks us questions and we don’t know anything, we’ll have failed at our jobs."
"Yes, yes, you’ve thought this through," Wu said. "There’s still an area we haven’t checked. Let’s go take a look over there! Little Pan should be safe in the cafeteria; after all, it’s the main cafeteria and it’s full of so many people eating."
"Mhm!" Li nodded. "You’re absolutely right!"
Having come to an agreement, the two of them went back to work.
Meanwhile, the little security guard, Pan Ling’er, had procured a lunch box from somewhere, filled it with some rice and dishes, and was now searching the cafeteria for any sign of Zhao Nuan Yang.
Finally, she spotted Zhao Nuan Yang in a corner, sitting across from Zhao Nuanyue and Little Red Carp.
There happened to be one empty seat right next to them. Pan Ling’er was ecstatic. She walked over, holding her lunch box.
When she reached Zhao Nuan Yang’s table, Pan Ling’er asked, nervous and fidgety, "Hi, can I sit here? It’s too crowded over there, and I don’t know anyone, so I feel awkward sitting there."
"Of course you can!" Little Red Carp had a very good impression of the little security guard, Pan Ling’er, who had just given her a White Rabbit candy. Seeing her approach, she flashed a big smile and agreed to Pan Ling’er’s request before her brother and sister could even speak.
Zhao Nuan Yang also nodded. They saw each other and said hello almost every morning, so they could be considered friends. He had a good impression of the little security guard, even if she was a bit silly and clumsy.
"Of course you can, this is the staff cafeteria!" Zhao Nuan Yang nodded and smiled at Pan Ling’er. "My sister and younger sister just brought me some shortbread pastries. Here, have some to try."
Following Zhao Nuan Yang’s words, Pan Ling’er’s gaze fell upon the table, and her eyes lit up with joy. "They look delicious just from a glance! Ms. Man Yue must be really skilled with her hands to be able to make such tasty-looking pastries!"
Pan Ling’er started praising them before she had even taken a bite.
