Lu Jihan stopped in his tracks, nodding slightly and said:

"The cause of the accident is still under investigation, and we cannot give a definitive explanation at the moment. However, we will definitely cooperate with the police in the investigation, and once the results are out, we will provide the media and the public with a precise update immediately."

Clearly, Lu Jihan’s answer wasn’t enough to satisfy the journalist’s curiosity, prompting the journalist to press further: "Mr. Lu, there are doubts about Mainland Grand Theater’s design. What is your response to this?"

"From the very start when the theater’s design was finalized, we had already considered the safety factors, and we conducted the relevant evaluations. Thus, it’s certainly not a design flaw issue."

"Does that mean the accident occurred due to human factors?"

Lu Jihan furrowed his brow and said, "We cannot rule out this possibility."

As soon as he finished speaking, more cameras and microphones pushed forward, and Shen Kang along with the bodyguards immediately stopped the reporters.

Lu Jihan, with a tight expression on his face, walked into the building.

It was nearing midnight, but the entire Mainland Group was in turmoil, and several key department executives had been summoned to the building for an emergency meeting.

Ten minutes later, the conference room was packed with high-level attendees.

Lu Jihan sat at the central position, with Shen Kang on his left, and other executives seated on both sides; the entire conference room felt heavy and tense.

The first to speak was Shen Kang:

"The Grand Theater was put into use less than half a year after completion, so it is definitely not a case of equipment being outdated and falling into disrepair causing component failure. Hence, it’s highly likely that the accident was man-made."

Everyone exchanged glances, cautiously observing Lu Jihan’s expression.

He tightly knit his brows, his jaw clenched hard.

No one dared to make a sound.

Soon after, Shen Kang continued:

"And we have preliminary findings from the investigation; there are indeed signs of deliberate damage at the scene. The steel frames supporting the lighting equipment show signs of cuts, which needs further investigation for a final conclusion. Additionally—"

He paused, his face grim as he surveyed the room.

"In our efforts to build the best theater in the country, we meticulously ordered new lighting fixtures from professional manufacturers. Yet, the lighting fixture that fell shows signs of repairs, hinting at refurbished or second-hand equipment."

At this, everyone was stunned.

The conference room erupted in discussion.

"Doesn’t that mean there’s an issue with the person responsible for procuring the fixtures?"

"If we investigate who procured that batch of fixtures, wouldn’t we know who’s responsible?"

Lu Jihan furrowed his brows, tapping on the table with a pen, looking displeased.

The executives quickly fell silent.

After contemplating for a moment, Lu Jihan squinted his sharp eyes and said, "We cannot rule out this possibility, Shen Kang, go investigate."

But Shen Kang replied, "Mr. Lu, I have already sent someone to investigate. The buyer responsible for the lighting fixtures was fired three months ago for a mistake. We tried to reach him for investigation but found he has moved away, and is temporarily unreachable."

Upon hearing this, Lu Jihan furrowed his thick brows even tighter.

It seemed the trail ended here.

Nonetheless, it was clear that someone had laid the trap since Mainland Grand Theater was first constructed, waiting for the opportunity to cause trouble for Mainland Group.
