Chapter 1022: The Incident Continues to Escalate

Inside the hospital room.

Ning Wan had been sleeping fitfully for an unknown amount of time, and upon waking, she couldn’t see Lu Jinyan anywhere, which suddenly made her anxious.

How did she just fall asleep?

She thought in frustration, turning her head and reaching out, trying to pick up the phone on the bedside table.

But she couldn’t muster any strength, it seemed like the power in her body was being restrained, and a transparent infusion tube was still stuck on the back of her left hand, making her movements very inconvenient.

Feeling helpless, she endured the intense pain and tried to turn over, but lost her balance, almost falling off the hospital bed.

Just then, a figure appeared at the doorway, shouting anxiously, "Careful!"

Ning Wan reacted rather quickly, promptly reaching out to grab the edge of the bed, stabilizing herself to avoid falling off.

Hearing the shout, she thought Lu Jinyan had returned, and she looked up joyfully.

"Why is it you?" Ning Wan said listlessly.

Gu Yuan and Ning Wan weren’t in the same major, but studied at the same university abroad, and had once collaborated on stage; they’ve known each other for many years.

Ning Wan unhappily pursed her lips and said, "Why did you come? Did Jinyan ask you to come over?"

"Yes."

Ning Wan furrowed her willow-like eyebrows, pressing for answers, "Where did he go? Why didn’t he say anything before leaving? He promised to be with me."

"Probably because you were resting, he didn’t want to disturb you."

Gu Yuan moved a chair, sat down in front of Ning Wan, and explained, "Jinyan has something important to handle, he said he’d come by later to take care of you."

Ning Wan furrowed her brow in displeasure and said, "No matter how important it is, is it more important than me? I bet he’s using it as an excuse, he’s definitely gone to see Wen Duoduo!"

Gu Yuan’s lips curled into a slight smile, his gaze fixed on her face.

"You probably don’t know, right? The matter of your injury during the performance has caused an uproar in Imperial City, Mainland Group is deeply embroiled in a media storm. Jinyan is Lu Jihan’s nephew and also a good friend of yours. Your father is his mentor, he’s definitely caught in the middle."

Hearing Gu Yuan say this, Ning Wan couldn’t help but feel a sinking in her heart.
