Swordsmanship Coach: Kill with One Slash
Chapter 474 - 282: Phantasm (2)
Chapter 474: Chapter 282: Phantasm (2)
Su Xing was well aware that appearing like this would draw eighty to ninety percent of the enemy’s attention and firepower. This would make it easier for Zhang Wen and Zhao Wu to search for their target; they should be able to find Lei Zhuang soon.
"Heh. Pretty confident."
Su Xing watched the floor numbers on the elevator display descend, a sudden smile playing on his lips. This was the Sea Fish Organization’s main base. If they wanted to, they could cut the power and halt the elevator, which would force Su Xing to expend some real effort to get down.
But they were letting him descend unimpeded. Clearly, they had made thorough preparations. Su Xing was just curious what those preparations could possibly be that they dared to let him come down so easily.
-50... -53... -56... -60.
As if in response to Su Xing’s thoughts, the elevator showed no signs of stopping. It continued its descent, arriving smoothly at the sixtieth sub-level.
In fact, this elevator required a keycard. The one in Su Xing’s hand had undoubtedly been taken from the Jile Valley Swordsman. The only regrettable thing was that this card couldn’t take him all the way to the bottom.
The underground complex had been excavated to a depth of sixty-six floors, but Su Xing could only reach the sixtieth. The moment he arrived, he understood why only Tier Seven Transcendents were permitted down here.
It wasn’t a matter of distinguishing the elite from the common rabble—though that might have been part of it. The main reason was that the air was far too thin. A normal person would likely suffocate to death in moments. High-tier Extraordinary Beings, on the other hand, could hardly be considered human anymore, which allowed them to adapt to life so deep underground.
Discovering this, however, only made Su Xing more curious about how this underground complex was built in the first place. ’Could it have been constructed entirely by Extraordinary Beings?’
The thought surprised him slightly, but he didn’t dwell on it. The elevator doors finally slid open, revealing the world outside.
However, the world outside was a stark contrast to everything he had seen so far. The architectural style was completely different from the floors above. If he had to describe it, this place looked more like a Sword Hall—just like his own.
No...
Su Xing observed more closely and realized it *was* his Sword Hall. There were even students attending a class, and the teacher was none other than Lu Anning, dressed in a white top and a red skirt.
’This must be from about a month ago.’
Su Xing concluded. He recalled that Lu Anning had covered his classes for him while he was away at Dragon Gate and the Cyan Cloud Sect. ’To be seeing this now... it must be some kind of Illusion Technique.’
’Or perhaps... it’s a Sequence.’
Su Xing was intimately familiar with the power of Sequences. He had been caught off guard by them on more than one occasion. But the Su Xing of today was completely different from his past self. He was no longer a mere Martial Artist. Within him resided two entirely distinct powers.
A Noble Aura surged in his heart. Su Xing then softly uttered a single word:
"Break."
...
Surrounding Su Xing were five Tier Seven Peak Extraordinary Beings, all of whom were now staring at him in terror.
"What’s going on?!"
"Isn’t he trapped in the illusion? How did he block my attack?!"
One of them had just launched a Sequence-fueled attack at Su Xing. Yet, at that very moment, Su Xing had spoken a single word, and the attack disintegrated in mid-air.
Such a feat was enough to make their skin crawl.
They all knew Su Xing was powerful, but this bizarre technique defied their understanding of what power was. Of course, none of them had ever witnessed the might of the Confucian Path. Encountering such a method for the first time, they were naturally terrified and found it impossible to comprehend.
This caused the man to stumble back several steps. "Are you sure you have him under control?" he asked, his voice wavering. "He isn’t faking it, is he?"
At the thought, his heart began to pound. Countless Tier Seven Transcendents had already died upstairs. Even though he was at Tier Seven Peak, stronger than an ordinary Tier Seven, could he possibly be stronger than Nie Qiu Hong? Even Nie Qiu Hong had died a miserable death at this boy’s hands.
In a straight fight, he wouldn’t stand a chance. If Su Xing had truly broken free from the illusion, he would turn and flee without a second’s hesitation.
"No, he hasn’t woken up."
The man who had cast the Sequence spoke. He could still feel the power of his Sequence flowing out of him, uninterrupted. This meant Su Xing had not yet escaped the illusion.
...
The first man naturally believed him. In the Sea Fish Organization, the illusionist’s status was higher than his own, not lower. Both were Sequencers, but the other man’s Sequence trapped people in illusions, while his was a simple combat-type.
In terms of functionality, his Sequence couldn’t compare to the other man’s, and he was weaker as well. It was no wonder his status was lower.
In truth, the illusionist’s Sequence was extremely potent; Su Xing had fallen into its trap before he’d even stepped out of the elevator. And this was the current Su Xing, not the one from the past who had to lay low and bide his time. Tricking him was an incredibly difficult feat.
This was proof enough of the illusionist’s power. So, despite his misgivings, the man didn’t dare to voice them. He could only pretend to be fully convinced as he asked:
"Then how did Su Xing block my attack?"
"He acted unconsciously,"
Yin Shifeng said after a moment’s thought. His sense of his Sequence couldn’t be wrong. Based on that fact, he easily concocted a theory that was convincing enough for himself.
"His ability to block your attack was likely a physical instinct. It’s also possible he was trying to break free from the illusion and accidentally shattered your attack in the process. In any case, he definitely isn’t awake."
The two conversed while Su Xing remained motionless, looking for all the world as if he truly hadn’t regained consciousness.
Wang Yifei—the one who had just tried to kill Su Xing—studied him carefully. Noticing that after saying "Break," he had made no other movements, Wang Yifei finally began to relax.
"I see..."
Wang Yifei thought for a moment. "If it’s the first possibility, we shouldn’t get near him. If it’s the second, then this is very troublesome. It would mean he has the ability to break your illusion, and we need to eliminate him immediately."
"Exactly."
Yin Shifeng nodded, but even as he spoke, he was already taking several steps back. In truth, he had let Wang Yifei attack first precisely to test the waters.
’Good thing I was cautious,’ he thought. ’If I’d rashly approached him just now, I’d probably be the one injured.’
"Alright, then. We’ll all back off and concentrate our firepower. We’ll send this guy to Hell in a single volley,"
Yin Shifeng said with grim determination.
He closed his eyes and extended two fingers on his right hand. A surging wave of his Sequence’s power emanated from him as he fiercely channeled it toward Su Xing, attempting to deepen the illusion.
VWOOM!!!
At this, Su Xing, who had been completely still, suddenly twitched. The movement nearly made the others wet themselves in fear. However, they saw he didn’t appear to be waking up and relaxed slightly.
...
"Heh..."
Su Xing gazed at the Sword Hall before him, a hint of nostalgia in his eyes. As his opponent increased the power output of their Sequence, the illusion before him began to rapidly rewind. Memories flashed before his eyes, one after another, until he saw himself meeting the old Headmaster for the very first time.
Back then, he had just acquired the system and had only a rudimentary understanding of the sword. Of course, he had no idea the old Headmaster was actually the Martial God. ’To think I’ve already come this far in the blink of an eye.’
"Enough. It’s time for this to end."
