Chapter 135: Lie Huo Military Base

Handing the item to Liu Yun, the soldier said, "Young Lady, this is a special identity token issued to members of our team. Each of us has an extra one that we can give to our friends or family members. You can have mine."

"If you need any help in the future, you can come to find my brothers or me in the barracks. Just show this token to the soldiers guarding the gate, and they will inform us about your arrival."

"Alright." Liu Yun accepted the token and sincerely thanked him. "Thank you."

While they were talking, the sun slowly climbed higher into the sky.

Sitting on the roof of the military truck, He Lin squinted his red eyes as he scanned the surroundings. When he spotted a group of zombies approaching the convoy, he released his mental energy and controlled them to retreat.

Inside the black military armored car leading the convoy, the soldier behind the wheel hummed a tune and said in a good mood, "Captain, we are really lucky today. I haven’t seen a single zombie since last night."

Hearing this, Lian Tianci, who was sitting in the passenger seat, opened his eyes. He scanned the area but couldn’t see any zombies nearby. However, he could still hear their distant roars.

’Are we just lucky... or is there another high-level zombie nearby?’

Although he was filled with doubt, Lian Tianci couldn’t see anything unusual or sense any danger. Rubbing his brows, he sighed tiredly.

’I must be too tired. After returning to the base, I should take a few days off and get some proper rest.’

As Lian Tianci closed his eyes and tried to catch some sleep, He Lin, who was sitting on the roof of the military truck, continued using his mental ability to drive away the zombies that approached the convoy from time to time.

With He Lin’s help, the journey went smoothly. By the time the sun had begun to tilt toward the western horizon, the towering walls of Lie Huo Military Base finally came into view in the distance.

Picking up the walkie-talkie on the dashboard, Lian Tianci pressed the talk button.

"Everyone, we have arrived. Get ready to pass through the gate."

When the soldiers heard his words through their radio speakers, they all breathed a sigh of relief.

Sitting inside the last military truck, the young soldier smiled and said, "Young Lady, we’ve finally arrived. If you don’t mind, we can ask our Captain to help you and your team with the registration process."

Although Liu Yun didn’t know how to register herself, she knew it would take a long time if she had to figure everything out on her own. Since the soldier had kindly offered to help, it would be impolite to reject his kindness.

Nodding gratefully, she replied, "Thank you. I’ll have to trouble you with this, then."

The burly soldier laughed and waved his large hand dismissively. "It’s nothing. You’re too polite, Young Lady."

While they were talking, the driver slowed down the truck.

Seeing the convoy approaching, one of the soldiers guarding the main gate stepped forward and raised his hand.

When the driver saw this, he brought the black military armored car to a stop and lowered the window. After saluting the approaching soldier, he handed him a document.

The soldier took the document and read it for a moment before returning it to the driver. He then returned the salute and said, "Welcome home, brother. You may proceed to the inspection area."

"Thanks," the driver replied as he took back the document.

Turning toward the soldiers guarding the gate, the soldier who had inspected the document made a hand signal and shouted, "Open the gate! It’s Captain Lian’s team!"

Hearing this, the soldiers quickly opened the gate. As the convoy passed through the main entrance, the soldiers on guard saluted and shouted in unison, "Welcome back, brothers!"

Watching the scene from inside the military truck, Liu Yun suddenly found herself missing her parents.

Noticing her sadness, the burly soldier gently patted her on the back and said, "Don’t be sad. From now on, this place will be your home."

Hearing this, Liu Yun turned to him and smiled. "You’re right."

The convoy continued driving for a while before finally entering the parking lot of the inspection area. Once the military truck came to a stop, the soldiers opened the door and jumped down.

Seeing this, Ye Xuan and the others also stood up and approached Liu Yun.

Reaching out his hand to her, Ye Xuan said, "Let’s go."

Liu Yun stared at his hand for a few seconds before taking it. With Ye Xuan’s help, she jumped down from the military truck easily.

Looking up, Liu Yun saw several large military tents arranged in neat rows near the parking lot. Besides their convoy, a few smaller groups of soldiers and ability users were also gathered there.

While she was observing her surroundings, the young soldier walked up to her and said, "Young Lady, we still haven’t learned your name. My name is Xiao Lu. May I know yours?"

Liu Yun reached out to shake his hand and replied, "My name is Liu Yun."

After shaking her hand, Xiao Lu grinned. "Nice to meet you, Miss Liu."

Just then, the burly soldier called out, "Xiao Lu, let’s go!"

Hearing this, Xiao Lu hurried back toward his team as he waved at Liu Yun. "Miss Liu, see you later!"

Liu Yun waved goodbye to him before turning to Ye Xuan and asking, "Elder Brother Ye, what should we do now?"

Before Ye Xuan could reply, Lan Zuancheng pointed toward one of the military tents and explained, "One of the soldiers gave me this letter of recommendation and told me to go to the registration tent."

Ye Xuan looked at the military tents and noticed a short queue in front of one of them. Glancing at his watch, he said, "It’s already two o’clock in the afternoon. Let’s hurry up and find a place to stay."

The others nodded and responded, "All right."

With that, the team headed toward the military tent with the shortest queue. They didn’t have to wait long before it was their turn.

Standing in front of the long desk, Lan Zuancheng handed the letter of recommendation to the soldier sitting behind it and said, "Comrade, we’d like to register our team and find a place to stay."

The soldier accepted the letter of recommendation and began reading it carefully.
