Chapter 144: A Meeting Gift

While Liu Yun and Ye Xuan were talking, Ru Jianxiao noticed them coming downstairs and said, "Breakfast is almost ready. You guys can take a seat first."

"Alright," Liu Yun replied before taking a seat at the dining table. Looking at the bread and sausages arranged on the plates, she raised her eyebrows slightly.

"Where did this bread come from? I don’t remember giving you guys bread yesterday," she asked with a hint of curiosity in her voice.

A few moments later, Lan Zuancheng walked out of the kitchen carrying two plates of ham.

After placing them on the dining table, he explained, "This morning, Brother Sixun and I went to the Merchant Guild and exchanged a few packs of instant noodles for bread. Brother Sixun said we shouldn’t eat instant noodles every day because it would make us sick."

Nodding in understanding, Liu Yun waited until everyone had taken their seats before picking up a slice of bread and taking a bite.

Frowning slightly, she chewed on the hard bread and thought, ’The taste is quite strange, and this bread is so hard that I almost broke my teeth!’

Noticing her frown, Ye Xuan said, "If you can’t eat it, don’t force yourself. Give it to me."

Liu Yun shook her head before forcing herself to swallow the hard bread. She sighed and replied, "We shouldn’t waste food."

Hearing this, Ye Xuan said nothing more and continued eating.

While Liu Yun was still struggling to finish that slice of bread, Gu Zhenwei had finished his food. He wiped his lips and said, "You guys take your time. I’m going to fix the gate and check the surroundings."

When he said this, Ru Jianxiao, Lan Zuancheng, and Qiu Sixun also wiped their hands before saying, "We’ll go with you."

Seeing that everyone else had finished breakfast, Liu Yun hurriedly ate faster, nearly choking herself in the process.

Ye Xuan gently patted her back and handed her a glass of water. "Eat slowly."

Just as she turned around, someone knocked on the metal gate.

"Is anyone home?" a male voice called out a few seconds later.

Hearing this, Liu Yun frowned slightly. ’Who’s coming over at this hour? Could it be the soldiers?’

Curious, Liu Yun walked over to open the gate. However, when she saw that the visitors weren’t soldiers but a young man in his twenties accompanied by four men in black combat uniforms, she immediately became more cautious.

Standing a few steps away from the metal gate, Liu Yun asked calmly, "Who are you? Do you need something?"

The young man looked at Liu Yun for a few seconds before smiling politely. "Good morning, Young Lady. My name is Mo Yunchi."

Seeing that she had no intention of continuing the conversation, Mo Yunchi tactfully said, "Then I won’t disturb you any longer. If you need anything, feel free to come and find me."

Waving goodbye to Liu Yun, Mo Yunchi turned around and returned to the Mo Family’s villa, followed by his four bodyguards.

After watching him enter the villa, Liu Yun looked at the paper bag in her hand and muttered, "I never expected that there is still someone who would send a gift to new neighbors in this world."

She fell into silence for a few seconds before thinking, ’I suppose it’s better to have more friends than enemies. Since he has offered a friendly gesture, I should return the favor sometime later.’

Sitting on the couch in the living room, she curiously opened the paper bag. When she saw a can of tea leaves inside, she raised her eyebrows slightly.
