Tech Dominator Starts with Raising Kids
Chapter 723: Even the Landlord’s Household Has No Surplus Grain
While waiting and waiting, Candy, half-holding her phone, fell asleep directly in the bed.
In the room, White, upon realizing that Candy was asleep, blinked its cute big eyes and went over to cover Candy with a blanket.
After White turned off all the light sources in the room, Bun, who had been waiting for this, sneaked into Candy’s bed in a flash.
At 11 p.m., Mo Jingchun and Zhou Yaling were not only getting more and more engrossed, but they also took a bag of sunflower seeds, snacking on them while watching the show, with a variety of fresh fruits on the coffee table for when their mouths got dry.
The small life they led was nothing short of joyful.
"WTF, the killer is this woman? She doesn’t seem like it at all."
Mo Jingchun was startled by Zhou Yaling’s sudden exclamation and then said grumpily, "Making a fuss over nothing."
After glancing at the time and realizing it was already past 11, Mo Jingchun put down the sunflower seeds he hadn’t finished, got up, and said:
"Stop watching, look at the time."
With that said, Mo Jingchun took his phone and went upstairs to shower and get ready for bed.
Upon hearing this, Zhou Yaling also took out her phone to check the time, past 11.
Thinking for a moment, Zhou Yaling decided to watch another episode. Maybe there’s a plot twist?
Aren’t TV dramas always like this?
Scratching her head, Zhou Yaling felt like she had forgotten something.
Quickly, Zhou Yaling shoved the thought aside and focused on the new plot.
Until past midnight, Zhou Yaling couldn’t hold it any longer and yawned.
Rubbing her eyes, Zhou Yaling turned off the TV; anyway, she could watch it tomorrow.
With that in mind, Zhou Yaling was ready to wash up and sleep.
But as Zhou Yaling passed by Candy’s bedroom door, a chill ran down her spine, and she felt much more awake.
She had been thinking she forgot something earlier, turns out it was Candy...
She went upstairs past eight and didn’t come down all night, hmm.
Tiptoeing, Zhou Yaling opened her own bedroom door, afraid that even the slightest noise would wake the definitely already asleep Candy.
As for what to do tomorrow, just play dumb.
The next morning, the sky was misty, with water vapor filling the air.
Running less than half of his usual distance, Mo Jingchun stopped.
The air was too humid; running was really uncomfortable.
Touching his hair, Mo Jingchun found it was covered with dew, like it had been washed.
In this kind of environment, if you don’t shower and change clothes immediately after intense exercise, you can easily catch a cold.
Walking inside, Mo Jingchun was about to go straight upstairs to shower when he was surprised to stop in his tracks.
He saw Candy sitting alone on the sofa in her fluffy pajamas, holding a remote in one hand and petting a cat with the other, her expression as resentful as it could be.
"Why up so early today? You know you don’t have school today?"
Candy calmly tilted her head to look at her brother, then turned back to continue watching her cartoon, speaking in a resentful tone:
"I know."
"Oh?" Mo Jingchun was surprised, and a bit curious.
"You know yet you still got up so early, is the sun rising from the north today?"
"Meow~"
Bun looked confused, why was its fur being petted in the wrong direction?
Displaying a don’t-want-to-talk-anymore look, Mo Jingchun chuckled without pursuing more questions, fearing that if he asked too much, Candy might start bawling, and then what?
"Watch some TV, while brother goes for a hot shower and changes clothes, then I’ll come down and make you breakfast."
"Mm." Candy huffed arrogantly, not loudly, but on this floor with only the two of them and standing so close, how could Mo Jingchun not hear.
Upstairs, while looking for clothes, Mo Jingchun asked Zero if someone had upset Candy; Mo Jingchun was sure, it definitely wasn’t him.
"No idea, Candy fell asleep before nine last night; isn’t early to bed and early to rise normal?"
This left Mo Jingchun really surprised.
During the holidays, Candy could still be asleep by nine?
Unable to figure it out, Mo Jingchun scratched his head, perplexed as he muttered to himself, "Was she tired from dancing yesterday, so she went to sleep early?"
"But why is she still angry?"
"Hmm... A girl’s thoughts are truly hard to grasp."
Perhaps the cartoon had an effect; when Mo Jingchun finished showering and went downstairs, Candy had a lot more smiles on her face.
Just not sure why Bun was missing.
Unlike the perfectionist Zhou Yaling, Mo Jingchun made breakfast simply, it was either noodles or fried rice. Frying doughnuts or steaming buns was too much trouble for him.
Wearing an apron and holding a frying pan, Mo Jingchun stood at the kitchen door and loudly asked:
"Noodles or fried rice."
Looking at her brother and thinking of the dry fried rice, Candy replied, "Noodles then."
"Fried rice doesn’t taste good."
Mo Jingchun pouted, "You complain, but when will you cook a meal for your brother to try?"
Upon hearing this, Candy widened her eyes in disbelief and said, "Brother, I’m only six this year."
"Oh, then wait a few more years."
Hearing the words from the kitchen, Candy couldn’t help but sigh, lowering her head to look at her own hands.
"How could brother bear to let such cute little hands cook?"
About twenty minutes later, Mo Jingchun placed two bowls of noodles on the dining table.
Smelling the aroma, Candy, whose stomach was already growling, quickly sat in the dining chair; not waiting for the side dishes, Candy blew on the noodles and, feeling they were cool enough, took a bite.
Watching his brother take out only a packet of pickles, Candy was stunned.
"Brother, are pickles the only side dish?"
"What else? Even the landlord’s family doesn’t have extra food." Mo Jingchun rolled his eyes.
"Eat while it’s hot; noodles aren’t good when they’re cold."
"Oh~!"
Holding the bowl with both hands, Candy drank the last mouthful of soup from the bowl, looking eagerly at her brother.
Without saying anything, Mo Jingchun served Candy another small half-bowl, with extra broth.
Under Mo Jingchun’s amazed gaze, Candy finished it in no time.
Grabbing a napkin, Candy ran off without looking back.
No TV watching now; come evening, there won’t be a chance.
When Zhou Yaling woke, a light drizzle was falling outside, and the whole city was shrouded in a fog with visibility no greater than 200 meters.
Checking the time, it was only nine thirty.
Coming out of the bedroom, unsurprisingly, Candy was already up.
What comforted Zhou Yaling was that Candy got up without waking her.
"Good child you are."
"Sister, cook an extra dish for lunch!"
Feeling full of sincerity, after brushing her teeth and washing her face, Zhou Yaling confidently went downstairs.
Seeing her brother and Candy each doing a Ge You slouch on the sofa, Zhou Yaling smiled and said:
"Good morning!"
