“Hey bro, I’ve got some news for you, you better prepare a big red envelope for me again.”

The next second, Qian Zhubin’s voice came through the phone, “Old Mo, don’t tease me like that. I’m telling you, Zhou Yaling and I are truly in love.”

Hearing this, Mo Jingchun pouted and said, “Look how anxious you are, haven’t you heard that brothers always try to reconcile rather than split people up? You don’t trust me, your brother and cousin?”

“Bullshit, you just said it.”

“Giving me good news early in the morning, did you get pregnant? How about it, what did the fortune teller across from the county hospital say, a boy or a girl?”

On the other end of the phone, Zhou Yaling and Qian Zhubin exchanged glances and saw the surprise in each other’s eyes.

Surprised at how Mo Jingchun knew the news, and how he knew when they asked the doctor if it was a boy or a girl, the doctor casually replied, “Whether it’s a boy or a girl, you should ask the fortune teller. Coincidentally, there’s a blind fortune teller right across the hospital entrance.”

Out of curiosity, they actually went to ask.

“Bro, how did you know the doctor told us to ask the fortune teller at the county hospital entrance?”

Mo Jingchun’s lips curved slightly, “Look at you both so surprised, if you ever joined the intelligence organization in the village, you would know that doctor giving the checkups at the county hospital always gives the same response to every inquiry about it being a boy or girl.”

“Huh? Then weren’t we fooled, Bin and I even foolishly went to ask the fortune teller.”

Watching skyscrapers whiz by outside the car window, Mo Jingchun said meaningfully, “Fooled? Not necessarily, the fortune teller has been right. When my mom was pregnant with Candy, she went to ask too.”

“A pregnancy makes you silly for three years,” Zhou Yaling on the other end of the line still hadn’t caught up, thinking the fortune teller indeed had the skill to determine a boy or girl. It was Qian Zhubin, usually the silly one, who realized it.

This blind fortune teller wasn’t really a fortune teller, but in cahoots with that doctor. Why hasn’t anyone reported this over the years? Because everyone left happy, no one was at a loss.

I have to say, this setup is genius.

Even if reported, without evidence, who can prove it’s related to the doctor? At most, it would be found that the fortune teller has “true” skills.

As his wife continued praising how amazing the blind fortune teller was to Mo Jingchun, Qian Zhubin could already imagine Mo Jingchun on the other side holding back laughter, probably about to burst.

His lips twitched, Qian Zhubin coughed and gently nudged his wife on the arm, saying in a low voice, “Cough cough, sweetie, maybe we should hang up now and call mom and dad.”

Zhou Yaling looked at Qian Zhubin oddly, not in much of a rush, but when she turned back to say a few more things to Mo Jingchun, the call had already been cut off by him unnoticed.

“Hahaha, it’s killing me,” after hanging up, Mo Jingchun laughed and slapped his thigh, barely holding back his laughter earlier, what a close call.

Getting home, Mo Jingchun saw Li Xuanyu lying on the couch watching TV alone, and he said with a smile:

“I’m back.”

With the air conditioning on, the room was cozy. Mo Jingchun took off his down jacket and hung it on the coat rack. After changing into a pair of clean slippers, he walked toward the couch.

Grabbing two honey tangerines, Mo Jingchun asked, “Has Candy not gotten up yet?”

“Not yet.”

Mo Jingchun nodded and handed the peeled honey tangerine to Li Xuanyu.

“By the way, let me tell you something, on my way back, Zhou Yaling called me.”

Intrigued, Li Xuanyu looked at Mo Jingchun, “What did she say?”

“She’s pregnant, asked me to prepare a big red envelope.”

Pregnant… Li Xuanyu was stunned. They had only been married for a short time, and she was already expecting. For Li Xuanyu, who always wanted a child, this was truly enviable!

With a sigh, Li Xuanyu asked resentfully, “When will we have that kind of luck?”

“If not, should we go to the hospital again for a detailed check-up?”

“No,” Mo Jingchun shook his head in denial.

“My body optimization, there’s another reason behind it.”

On the third floor, Candy was excitedly playing a game with Zero when suddenly, the bedroom door opened. Candy got startled.

Upon realizing it was his sister-in-law and not his brother, Candy retrieved the phone he had hidden under his pillow.

“Sister-in-law, why did you come up?”

In a much better mood, Li Xuanyu smiled and said, “Of course, your brother sent me up to remind you to get up and do your homework.”

“Just a minute! Sister-in-law, can I finish this game first?”

“Sure.”
