Tech Dominator Starts with Raising Kids

Chapter 927: Experimental Data

“It’s year-end party time again? Well, makes sense, I’m already on winter break. Bro, don’t put me in any performance slots, okay? Just let me be part of the audience, that’s way better. The only tiny pity is that all these years, whenever the party hits the lottery segment, you never let me join.”

Watching Candy take the phone out of his drawer, Mo Jingchun shrugged and said helplessly, “If you join the lottery, how are the others supposed to play? You’ll bag the grand prize every time. What are people supposed to think? They might not say it out loud, but inside they’ll definitely judge the company for rigging it.”

Now armed with a phone, Candy plopped down on the sofa and didn’t even look up at her brother.

“I just have good luck, blame me then~”

“Bro, I heard Wenjing and Wenru are going on stage to perform, is that for real?”

“Yep. The kids from the kindergarten do a group performance every year, and those two little ones happen to be obedient and well-behaved, so of course the teachers pick them first. And sure, there’s a bit of ‘social connections’ involved too, but you wouldn’t get it even if I explained.”

The very next second, Candy snapped her head up, full of indignation. “Who says I don’t get it? Back when I was in kindergarten, the teachers were all giving me extra special treatment on the sly. Why? Because they all wanted to curry favor with you, or they were scared you’d keep an eye on them.”

At that, the corner of Mo Jingchun’s mouth twitched. She wasn’t wrong, but back when Candy was in kindergarten, what he feared most was getting called in by her teachers.

After all these years, the reason Candy Kindergarten ended up with so many weird rules is that behind every ridiculous rule or added facility, there was an equally ridiculous incident—and Candy just happened to be one of the star contributors to those rules.

Thanks to Candy, the kindergarten’s access control got upgraded twice in a row. That’s saying something.

“You’ve got some nerve bringing that up. When you were in kindergarten, the teachers called me in constantly. I was shaking in my boots every time. At least once you hit elementary school, you dialed it back. Your homeroom teacher hardly ever summoned me to school.”

Candy gave an awkward little laugh. “Couldn’t help it, the homeroom teacher was too scary, who’d dare cause trouble? And also, the upper-grade kids were way taller than me.”

“Heh heh~~~” Mo Jingchun chuckled dryly and said nothing more.

By evening, the sky was overcast, and it got dark even earlier than yesterday. Streetlights along the city roads switched on automatically as the smart system made its own judgment.

Only the lights inside Candy Technology Park were still off.

Standing by the window, Mo Jingchun held a cup of “fat otaku happy water” in his hand. Not far behind him, Candy was hugging a half-finished bottle of Coke, sipping away with great enjoyment.

“Bro, we’re drinking Coke in the dead of winter… isn’t sis-in-law going to complain?”

“You don’t say anything, I don’t say anything, how’s your sis-in-law ever going to know?”

Silence stretched behind him for a while. Mo Jingchun turned around, puzzled—and his expression froze.

Li Xuanyu was standing there, arms folded, holding Candy’s half bottle of Coke, looking at Mo Jingchun with a smile that wasn’t quite a smile.

“Ahem, how come you got off work early today?”

“If I hadn’t left early, how would I catch you two secretly chugging soda, and dragging Candy into it too? You’re not even worried about her catching a cold?”

“This is an injustice, your honor. Candy insisted on drinking it, kept begging me nonstop. Plus, Candy’s not that fragile.”

Hiding behind Li Xuanyu, Candy gave her brother a big thumbs-up for his bravery.

Such an awesome big brother! He actually stood his ground for once today!

Right then, the phone lying on Mo Jingchun’s desk rang.

Standing right by the desk, Li Xuanyu glanced at the screen, instantly dropping her playful smile. “It’s Qin Yuzhu calling.”

Mo Jingchun didn’t say anything, striding over to pick up the phone.

“Hello, Qin, this is Mo Jingchun.”

“Anyone beside you?”

At that, Mo Jingchun glanced at Li Xuanyu by his side and Xia Xiaomin in the distance, who had her head down doing something.

“I’ve got my Bluetooth headset on, Qin, you can talk.”

“We just got notified by higher-ups: the preliminary observation results of the experiment are in. The detailed experimental data will be delivered to you in person tomorrow.”

Pausing, Qin Yuzhu glanced at the three file boxes by her desk and went on, “Considering the risk of data leaking over the network, all the data this time has been recorded on paper documents. Also, good news: as of the latest update I received, not a single person who participated in the experiment has died.”

“Okay, got it.”

Mo Jingchun sounded far too calm; there wasn’t the slightest ripple in his tone, which left Qin Yuzhu quite puzzled.

“You already expected this outcome?”

“It’s my product. Of course I have confidence in it. Don’t forget, I told you before—both the theory and the computer simulations checked out perfectly.”

“So what’s there for me to be surprised about?”

On the other end of the line, Qin Yuzhu was stunned. This guy was getting more and more self-assured. She’d been to that secret base in person and seen the test subjects with her own eyes. Just as Mo Jingchun had described, every subject’s physical condition had improved across the board.

The creepiest part was that, up to now, the researchers hadn’t found a single flaw in the X-Gene Optimization Liquid.

Which was… kind of terrifying.

It’s like a product fresh out of the lab that debuts already at peak performance.

Like cultivation stories: others are just starting out, and you’re already standing on top of the world.

The next morning, Candy followed her brother as he did a round of inspections through the various labs. All the weird gizmos inside, after such a long gap since her last visit, really opened Candy’s eyes.

Walking out of the ternary computer lab, Candy said in amazement, “Bro, the AI in that computer is crazy good, feels like it’s only one tier below Zero.”

At that, Mo Jingchun smiled. “Don’t underestimate ‘just one tier.’ Without the right opportunity, it’ll never reach Zero’s level. Right, Zero?”

“Obviously!” Zero, walking alongside Candy, was brimming with confidence. Not to brag, but the reason she’d evolved to her current state was thanks to a chunk of AI source code from another civilization. The collision between two different kinds of artificial intelligence was what made her what she is today—an AI with true self-awareness.

Unlike that AI in the ternary computer just now. Sure, it also speaks as ‘I,’ but that’s only because the program was written that way.

The gap between them was practically like heaven and earth.

Suddenly, Zero lifted an eyebrow and said, “Boss, we might not be able to go to the next lab right away.”

“What’s up?”

“The person Qin Yuzhu mentioned, the one delivering the data, has arrived, but security stopped them at the south gate. I’ve already sent a notice letting the vehicle in.”

“Let’s go, downstairs!”

Right now, Mo Jingchun was already itching to lay eyes on those experimental data.
