Ten Lucky Draws: I Became OP

Chapter 699: The Main Character Is Real?

"So..." she said, her voice clear and professional. "Which one of you are ready to traverse first?"

The group of four shared quick, uncertain glances. Alex Prime was the first to speak, his white features creased with confusion.

"Just why did things get sped up so suddenly?" he asked, his voice carrying a note of concern.

"My father only recently discovered the existence of the three anchors of the Novel we are in."

Irene the first frowned, crossing her arms as she looked at the scientist.

"I can’t believe we are actually so set on.... a myth." She said with a shake of her head.

"I mean, how do we even know we’re in a novel to begin with?" she asked.

"There has never been a Primediva who has read the novel themselves, nor have we ever heard of anyone bragging about what new powers they’d gained from this novel."

As NovelGeek had explained to Ash, the beings within the Source of Expansion were anything but ordinary.

They were a race that could resist any narrative effects, possessing absolute immunity to being erased from the greater narrative.

More than that, they collectively formed the Reader’s Faction, a title earned because every single being in the Source of Expansion had access to all the novels NovelGeek had ever encountered.

From birth, each one was given a single novel, complete with the full layout of select main characters.

Over time, however, the Primediva made it possible for them to learn beyond their birth novels.

With the creation of a vast repository known as the Library of All Fiction, they could not only study other novels but also forge links to stories the author had never intended for them to access.

Sammy the First grunted in agreement, his deep voice rumbling.

"Exactly. All this talk about becoming the ultimate source of fiction.... How can we achieve that without knowing our true origin?"

The scientist-looking woman smiled calmly, her eyes patient as she listened to their confusion.

"You all must learn to be more patient." She said as she tilted her head. "How else are myths to be proven... if not for making the strive to uncover them?"

She then shook her head continuing.

"As for why things have moved up.... Well, recently the five branches of the Clan recently met for an emergency meeting," she explained.

"This traversal initially was meant for a longer preparation.... but for some reason we think we won’t have much time for that."

It wasn’t because a superstitious feeling, but because the higherups of the Source of Expansion felt the moment the outside was wiped clean.

Such an event should have sparked far more panic than just an emergency meeting, yet many took it as a sign from the Author himself.

"We have been preparing for these traversals for over a thousand cycles... but this time, it’s only within the bounds of our own Novel."

The initial purpose of these traversal pods, as one might guess, was to be sent into other novels the Author never intended them to encounter.

Now, however, instead of continuing their preparations, they were rushing headlong into the testing phase.

"Whoever chooses to go... you must first find Minx," she said, for Minx was the only Primediva since the dawn of time ever sent beyond their realm.

Back then, it was meant to mark the beginning of their tribute to the Author and the lesser existences.

Even as they kept holding festivals every two hundred and fifty cycles, it was always with the comfort of knowing Minx was safe.

The Treasury’s absence had long been the unmistakable sign that she was still alive.

However, when it came back and she didn’t, it was only the beginning of their sense that something far greater was on its way.

Yet, they didn’t view it as a looming disaster, but rather as if it were a golden apple descending from the heavens.

She paused for a moment, then continued.

"The second is to find the Second Anchor, which should exist beneath all of existence and nonexistence."

Melissa Origin tilted her head, purple flames flickering as she processed the information. Most of what they’d been told so far danced around the point.

She and the other three knew the higher-ups wouldn’t speed things up just because they saw a promising sign.

Their plan was clear: link more outside Novels to the Source of Expansion, then locate the anchors for their own Novel.

That’s why Alex found it strange, knowing his father had only just discovered them.

"Are... you saying we actually have proof the Main Character exists?" she asked.

They all knew this would be the only thing that could possibly make the plans that had been set since near the beginning of time to suddenly change.

Because if the Main Character existed.... that meant they were no longer chasing a myth, but a hard cut truth.

And... with them being the Reader’s Faction, how could they truly feel complete without the powers of their own Main Character?

The scientist nodded, her smile remaining steady.

"Possibly, we can’t say for sure." She then gestured towards the pod, "Though, your traversal has two phases... and phase one will confirm whether that special charcter exist or not."

Alex Prime leaned forward slightly, his white features creased with skepticism.

"Just how will that confirm anything?" he asked.

The scientist moved gracefully to the side of the pod and opened it with a gentle push. The interior glowed with soft, swirling light, runes pulsing along its inner walls like living veins.

"Simple," she said sweetly. "The Five Leaders are awaiting your word... to see if the lower existence has been destroyed or not."

She turned back to the group, her expression calm and inviting.

"Who will go inside?"

Melissa Origin stepped forward without hesitation, her purple flames flickering along her wings and hair as she moved.

"Well, I don’t mind going," she said, her voice steady. "Let’s get this over with."

She stepped into the pod, the door closing smoothly behind her with a soft, resonant click.

HUMMMMMM!!!!!

The interior lights brightened, enveloping her form in a cocoon of swirling energy.

The runes along the walls began to pulse faster, glowing with increasing intensity as the pod hummed with power.

Streams of liquid light flowed through the tubes connected to it, feeding the artifact with raw conceptual energy.

For a few moments, the pod vibrated gently, the light inside growing brighter and brighter until it became almost blinding.

Then, with a sudden, brilliant flash, the pod went dark.

Melissa Origin was gone.

The scientist smiled softly, closing the pod once more.

"Phase one has begun," she said quietly.
