Chapter 582: Chapter 582 Trouble Incoming

He quickly caught up to her and reached for her wrist, stopping her just before she could pass Zion, who was still standing several dozen feet away from where the others had been moments ago.

Addison stopped.

Her brows were tightly drawn together, and her eyes gleamed with unmistakable murderous intent.

The moment everyone noticed it, the atmosphere around them shifted.

Whatever Addison had just heard through the mindlink, it clearly wasn’t good.

Maxwell stepped forward, his expression turning serious. "Addie," he urged, his voice calm but firm, "just tell us what’s going on. Whatever it is, you don’t have to deal with it alone. We’ll help you in any way we can."

Addison remained silent for a moment, her jaw tightening as something dangerous flickered behind her eyes.

Addison didn’t answer immediately. Instead, her gaze lifted and landed directly on Leon. "I just received a report from my father," she said, her voice low and grim. "Your warriors have been ambushed."

She didn’t need to say anything else. The weight of those words alone was enough to make everyone understand just how serious the situation had suddenly become.

Someone had actually dared to attack the Tigren Clan’s warriors, inside werewolf territory.

And the timing was far too convenient to be a coincidence.

The enemy had made their intentions painfully clear. They didn’t want Addison gaining any more power, influence, or support than she already had. And now, rather than sitting back and watching her alliance with the Tigren Clan grow stronger, they had chosen to make a move.

A bold, dangerous one at that.

Zion, Maxwell, and Levi immediately understood why Addison’s expression had changed so abruptly and why she had suddenly turned back as if the truth waiting ahead she was about to reveal no longer mattered.

An ambush wasn’t something that could be ignored.

In an instant, the secret Addison had been preparing to reveal, and the truth Zion had spent the past several minutes struggling to face, was pushed to the back of their minds.

Even Zion, who had only just managed to prepare himself for the worst, didn’t utter a single complaint when everything suddenly came to a halt.

Because he understood.

This was bigger.

Their enemy was no longer hiding quietly in the shadows.

The ambush itself wasn’t merely an attack on the Tigren Clan. It was a warning directed at Addison, and at everyone who was considering standing beside her.

They were making a statement.

They were trying to cut off Addison’s growing influence before it became too powerful to control. They wanted to weaken her support, shake the confidence of those allied with her, and make everyone think twice before choosing her side.

And more than anything, they were trying to get inside her head.

This was a mental battle.

Their enemy was still hidden, their identities and motives obscured by the darkness, but that was precisely what made the situation more dangerous. By launching an unexpected ambush while remaining unseen, they were trying to create uncertainty, to make Addison and everyone around her question where the next attack would come from.

They wanted them unsettled and on edge while looking over their shoulders.

They wanted to weaken Addison before they ever had to face her directly.

And with this ambush, their message had finally become impossible to ignore and this shows that the enemy was done waiting.

With this sudden ambush carried out right under their noses, their hidden enemy was doing far more than simply attacking the Tigren Clan. They were making a statement, a blatant, arrogant challenge directed straight at Addison.

This was Addison’s territory, yet their enemy had just proven that they did not give a damn.

They were silently telling her, ’This may be your turf, but that doesn’t mean you’re safe here. We can reach whoever we want, whenever we want, wherever we want, and there isn’t a damn thing you can do to stop us.’

And this attack was the proof.

The message was clear enough to put enormous pressure on Addison, but that was only part of the attack. The real damage would spread through the minds of everyone watching. Those who had chosen to stand behind Addison, or those still considering whether to support her, would inevitably begin to question their decision.

’If the Tigren Clan can be targeted while standing beside her, what the hell would stop them from coming after us next?’

That was precisely what their hidden enemy wanted.

This was not just a physical attack. It was psychological warfare.

And their choice of target made the message even more terrifying. The Tigrens were individually stronger than ordinary werewolves. By attacking them so openly and without hesitation, the enemy was essentially killing the tigers to scare the wolves. If they were bold enough to come after one of the strongest clans, then what would stop them from targeting the weaker ones?

It was a deliberate display of madness.

They were showing everyone that strength did not intimidate them. Bloodline, status, power — it didn’t matter. They were willing to attack anyone. And that made them far more dangerous, because an enemy who valued their own lives could be threatened, intimidated, or forced to retreat.

But an enemy willing to throw away lives?

That was much trickier to deal with.

And if the attackers were nothing more than disposable death warriors, then the situation became even more disturbing. It meant their hidden enemy had enough people, or enough control, to sacrifice fighters without batting an eye.

They could keep throwing bodies into the fire, again and again, simply to weaken Addison, spread fear among her supporters, and make everyone around her wonder whether standing by her was truly worth the risk.

In the end, that was the real purpose of the ambush.

They weren’t just trying to hurt the Tigren Clan.

They were trying to isolate Addison.

They wanted her allies to become afraid.

They wanted her supporters to hesitate.

And above all, they wanted everyone to understand that anyone who chooses to stand beside Addison could be next.

Leon’s lips curled into a cold, devilish smile. "They’ve certainly got the guts of a lion, attacking my people like that..."

His voice was almost calm, but the darkness pooling in his eyes told a completely different story. He didn’t see the attackers as a threat, not even close. But he was pissed. Truly pissed.

The murderous glint in his gaze made it clear that whoever had dared lay their hands on his people had just signed their own death warrant. He looked like he was one wrong word away from snapping someone’s neck with his bare hands.

"Have someone take me there," Leon continued, his voice dropping into a dangerously quiet tone. "I want to deal with those bastards myself."

"No."

Leon turned toward Addison.

"I’m coming with you," Addison said, chewing the inside of her cheek as anger slowly tightened her chest. "This isn’t just an attack against your people. This was a challenge directed at me."

Her eyes darkened. "Your side was simply the collateral damage they used to deliver their message."

"No, Addie. It’s too dangerous out there." Levi immediately stepped forward and caught Addison by the arm, gently but firmly turning her to face him. Both of his hands settled on her shoulders, his expression growing serious as though he was fully prepared to stand there and lecture her for as long as it took just to convince her to stay behind.

"Let the three of us go with Leon instead." His concern wasn’t baseless.

None of them knew whether this attack was exactly what it appeared to be, or whether it was another carefully laid trap. What if their hidden enemy had deliberately attacked the Tigren Clan to provoke Addison? What if they were counting on her anger and sense of responsibility to drag her straight to the ambush site?

And once she got there...

They could be waiting for her.

They could use the Tigren Clan as leverage, forcing Addison into a situation where she would have to choose between walking away and abandoning Leon’s people or stepping straight into the enemy’s hands.

If that was truly their plan, then going there blindly would be far more dangerous than simply dealing with a group of attackers.

It seemed Zion and Maxwell had reached the exact same conclusion.

Neither of them said a word, but their expressions spoke loudly enough. Both of them stared at Addison with firm, unyielding looks, silently backing Levi’s argument.

Their message was unmistakable.

They agreed with him.

And this time, none of them looked willing to back down.

But Addison wasn’t backing down.

It wasn’t pride driving her, nor was she trying to prove that she was stronger than anyone else. She simply understood what backing away now could mean.

If she hid behind her mates and allowed them to handle everything while she remained safely behind, her enemies could twist that image however they wanted.
