"Hey."

The man standing in the middle spoke while moving slightly ahead of the other two, trying to sound polite in his tone. He wore slightly rough-looking clothes, while two similar-clothed men stood at his sides.

"What is it?" Lucian asked with a frown.

"I wanted to have a talk with you... with both of you actually," the man said with a smile.

"What is he doing?"

"I don’t know...?"

The whispers around them increased slightly, spreading through the lobby as more people began paying attention, with some of them recognising the group standing before Lucian.

The man’s eyes twitched faintly, and for a brief moment, his face twisted.

He glanced toward the crowded hall before turning back toward the pair.

"It seems we cannot speak here. Should we go outside?"

"No," Lucian spoke immediately.

"I don’t care what you want to speak about. We’re busy, so later."

He shook his head before walking forward, not interested in hearing anything.

He only wanted one thing, and that something involved a card that would allow him to enter dungeons.

Nothing else was worth the attention right now.

Monsters first!

Selene glanced at the men for a brief moment before calmly walking behind him.

"Brother, what should we do now? We won’t be able to go through with our plan if they don’t come with us."

Hearing the faint whisper from one of his companions, the man let out a faint sigh.

"I want to try to be kind, but... sigh... forget it."

His expression twisted slightly before he rushed toward them, and the moment he saw the woman walking behind the disgustingly handsome man—

A faint smile appeared on his face.

The moment Selene took another step, a hand suddenly grabbed her wrist, making her body go still as her head snapped back.

Her eyes behind the mask turned icy cold.

Without wasting even a second, Selene sharply pulled her hand backwards.

The sudden force almost caused the man to stumble forward.

"Damn, feisty."

The man chuckled, a disgusting smile appearing on his face as he looked at her—unable to see her expression.

"I was hoping to speak with him, but it seems we alone would ha—"

His words slowly faded as he noticed that the masked woman wasn’t even looking at him.

The whispers increased multifold as they saw the man’s actions, though a few weren’t surprised since he was known for such behaviour.

And since the three men were from a powerful party, none of them could do anything.

None of them wanted to get involved, though they were interested in the sight unfolding before them. And a few—as expected—had even started filming.

Their gazes held surprise, shock, jealousy... and even disgust.

But all those emotions soon drowned—or would eventually drown beneath a single one.

Selene’s head slowly, almost hesitantly, shifted sideways, and the moment she did...

Her heartbeat almost stopped.

Lucian stood there.

His expression was blank, completely blank, and even though she couldn’t see his eyes right now—hidden behind his dark sunglasses—

She could clearly feel those lifeless eyes.

Not looking at her...

But completely fixed on the man, who seemed unaware of the change.

He frowned slightly, confused by the sudden silence.

"What are you doing? Forgot me?"

Despite hearing his words, Selene didn’t turn toward him.

Then, slowly... the man’s attention shifted toward Lucian as well.

The man’s friend, standing beside him, noticed the strange atmosphere and gave a faint chuckle.

"Did he freeze...?"

But the moment he looked properly at Lucian’s face...

His expression shifted slightly, and his smile disappeared.

His body stiffened.

Lucian...

For a moment, he simply stood there, not moving an inch.

Not because he was processing anything... no.

No... no, no, no...

There wasn’t anything to process.

The temperature inside the room started increasing by a couple of degrees, so much so that everyone immediately noticed the change.

A few people looked around in confusion.

The man and his teammates frowned, feeling sweat trickling down their skin.

Selene felt it as well.

"Dea—"

Before she could even speak another word—

Lucian vanished from his spot.

His body blurred before her eyes, and before anyone could even understand what had happened—

"KKAAAGH—!"

The rough-looking man’s eyes widened in horror as he suddenly saw Lucian flicker before him, and a sharp pain shot through his throat as Lucian’s fingers tightened around his neck.

His entire body jerked violently as he was lifted with frightening ease.

"Brother!"

One of his companions shouted.

"Fucker! What are you doing to our teammate?!"

The other man rushed toward Lucian, his fist striking directly against his face.

But—

Lucian didn’t even move, and neither did his expression shift a single inch.

The man’s eyes widened, and he unconsciously took a step back.

"W-Wha..."

"AKGKGKAA—LE–Ea—AAHHH!!!!"

The rough-looking man tried to shout, but his voice instantly turned into a painful scream as Lucian’s fingers dug deeper into his throat, choking the breath out of him.

His body flailed wildly, his legs kicking against the air while his hands desperately attempted to pry Lucian’s arm away—but to no avail.

Then—

"L-Lucian...?"

Lily’s voice came from behind, and the moment she saw the scene, her eyes widened as she immediately ran towards him.

Almost everyone who had been frozen in shock finally reacted.

A few people instantly tried moving towards the struggling man, but many of their teammates immediately grabbed them and stopped them, perhaps... internally even wanting to see the man’s end today.

Whatever the reason, nobody dared to step directly between Lucian and his target.

"Lucian... stop..."

Selene’s voice came from behind as she walked forward, holding his hand.

"NO."

Lucian’s lifeless voice rang loudly through the hall, sending an instinctive shiver down everyone’s spine.

Selene gritted her teeth, not because she cared for the man’s life... but because—

"Everyone is looking... don’t do anything reckless!"

Her whispered voice trembled, but even then... Lucian didn’t move.

"Hey, is it that guy...?"

A man asked his teammates quietly.

"It seems so..."

"So what now?"

"Should we stop him?" a woman asked, and in reply—

"We should! We don’t know what might happen to him if we don’t hurry!"

Another woman said in a trembling voice, remembering the terror Lucian had left in her mind yesterday.

Though by him, she meant the choking man.

Not Lucian himself.
