Chapter 199: Chapter 199: Meeting

He continued, his tone turning heavy as he emphasized the gravity of the situation. "This operation is equipped with eleven Space Superpower Users and nine healing Superpower Users. They will be distributed to different areas of the convoy based on the actual needs of each team.

"I want to emphasize this point—aside from the basic supplies carried by the vehicles themselves, all resources for this operation are stored within the dimensional spaces of the Space Superpower Users. I expect everyone to keep a close eye on the movements of these two types of Superpower Users during the mission. After all, the material supply and the very lives of over three hundred thousand civilians largely depend on them.

"This escort convoy will adopt a dual-lane parallel marching formation. Armed military convoys, Superpower User convoys, and private survivor vehicles will be interwoven to ensure there are no weak gaps in combat strength along the entire route..."

The ensuing content was entirely about the division of team responsibilities and the direct chain of command—tedious and overly complicated details.

Luna Dawson listened in a daze. Her gaze gradually lost focus, and her head began to nod off bit by bit...

Her consciousness had long since slipped into her own space, busy feeding the fish and shrimp in the pond, picking ripe fruits and vegetables in the plantation, and even harvesting twenty acres of rice!

Good heavens!

The high-intensity consumption of spiritual power left her brain completely muddled from exhaustion. Even her eyes were unfocused, revealing a somewhat spaced-out dullness.

Francis Grant happened to be sitting right across from Luna, taking in her daydreaming demeanor entirely.

Looking at her unfocused eyes and slightly drooping brows, he couldn’t help but find it amusing. His gaze lingered on her for a few extra moments involuntarily, even detecting a trace of silly sluggishness in her blank stare.

Unable to hold it back, the corners of his mouth curved up, and a very soft chuckle escaped his throat.

The moment the laugh fell from his lips, he suddenly remembered they were still in a meeting. He instantly composed his expression and subtly glanced at Major General Dalton beside him.

The Major General was currently delivering a passionate rallying speech, his face full of the fiery spirit of fighting for the post-apocalyptic migration of humanity. He hadn’t noticed Francis’s little slip at all. Francis secretly let out a sigh of relief and quietly straightened his back.

The grand meeting dragged on for an entire morning!

Luna hadn’t absorbed a single useful piece of information from start to finish. Anyway, she had Kevin Keane right beside her acting as her exclusive note-taker.

She had spent the entire time either zoning out or doing farm work in her space. By the time the meeting adjourned, she was thoroughly dazed from exhaustion.

The moment the signal to adjourn was given, Luna propped herself up on the table and slowly stood up, her entire body feeling weak. In the past, whenever she finished grinding away at farm work, she would just collapse and sleep right there in her space.

Now, she could only lean on Kevin and drift outward with the flow of the crowd on unsteady feet, looking exactly like a legless wandering ghost.

The gazes of quite a few people around them instantly focused on her, and fragmented whispers continuously reached her ears.

"No wonder she’s so arrogant, she’s actually a Fourth-stage Superpower User!"

"Is she the captain of the Sunset Squad? To think she has dual-system Fourth Rank abilities!"

"Look, look, that’s her!"

These voices pulled her scattered wits back a bit, and her eyes gradually came into focus. She looked up at Kevin beside her, her tone carrying the bewilderment of someone who had just woken from a nap. "When did they say I was at the Fourth Rank? How come I don’t remember that at all?"

Kevin looked down at her sluggish, drooping posture, acting as if she wanted nothing more than to hang completely off his body. A smile spread in the depths of his eyes.

He reached out to steady her, slowing his speech to explain. "Right after Major General Dalton finished introducing the distribution of Space Superpower Users, he conveniently announced your level. In the upcoming mission, you’ll be responsible for allocating ninety percent of the supplies. The other ten Space Superpower Users will collectively handle the remaining ten percent at the rear of the convoy."

"Oh..." Luna responded a half-beat too late. Her brain hadn’t completely caught up yet as she asked, "Then what else do I have to do?"

Kevin broke down the key information clearly. "Our squad is still at the head of the escort convoy, with ten heavy armored vehicles leading the charge. Francis Grant and Major General Dalton will respectively ride in the sixth vehicles of the two lanes. We’ll be right behind Francis; the seventh and eighth vehicles belong to us.

"Your core duty is to manage the distribution of supplies; you don’t need to worry about any other miscellaneous chores. We are under Francis’s direct command, so we just have to follow his orders when the time comes."

As they spoke, the two of them slowly walked out of the conference hall with the crowd.

Luna really couldn’t be bothered to drag her feet any longer. With a wave of her hand, a black Hummer appeared right in front of them.

She pulled the door open, slipped inside, and collapsed into the passenger seat without any desire to move again. She urged Kevin, "Hurry up, let’s go. I’m dying of exhaustion here."

Kevin chuckled as he got into the driver’s seat. He started the car and smoothly drove away from the base’s office district.

After the squad captains were dismissed and left, the various higher-ups, the members of the Special Operations Department, as well as Kyle Keith and his group did not depart.

They stayed behind to hold a smaller, more exclusive meeting, discussing and verifying every detail of the escort mission word for word. From the major contingency plans for the convoy’s march down to the exact time nodes for supply distribution, they strived to ensure that absolutely nothing would go wrong.

Meanwhile, after Luna’s family had finished eating lunch, she left behind dinner for everyone and informed them that she wouldn’t be coming out until the following morning. She then directly took Little Tiger, Purple Bean, Little Sweet Potato, and Rollo back into her space.

The return journey would begin tomorrow. A massive migration of hundreds of thousands of people in this perilous post-apocalyptic environment carried an unimaginably high risk factor. She had to seize this final stretch of time to rest and build up her strength, while also dedicating her full effort to training her superpowers.

Upon entering her space, Luna first went to carefully irrigate the already blooming Bodhi Tree with a nutrient solution. Looking at the fresh, tender flower buds on its branches, her gaze softened considerably.

Afterward, she took out a transparent Fourth-stage Crystal Core and handed it to Little Tiger. She then found a wood-element Fourth-stage Crystal Core and gave it to Purple Bean. To top it off, she lined the nests of both little creatures with a full thousand Crystal Cores of their respective elements.

She figured that by letting them stay in secluded cultivation inside the space for a few days, they might just be able to successfully break through to the Fourth Rank with the help of the energy from these Crystal Cores.

Little Sweet Potato bounced over while riding on Rollo. The two of them obediently stood guard by the nests of the other little ones. Little Sweet Potato was muttering non-stop, looking so utterly serious, almost as if he were passing on his own experience and techniques for leveling up. It was an incredibly adorable sight.

Luna couldn’t help but frown as she watched the various Crystal Cores being rapidly consumed within her space.

Right now, she only had one fire-element, one Thunder System, and one transparent Fourth-stage Crystal Core left in her possession.

It was worth noting that the scale of the bombing zone around Thomas Dalton’s military base was nowhere near as large as Kensington Base’s. As a result, they could only offer a single Fourth-stage Crystal Core as an upfront payment this time.

It was Francis Grant who had promised that once the escort mission was completed, he would compensate the Sunset Squad with the remaining two Fourth-stage Crystal Cores, plus an additional ten Third-order Crystal Cores.

Thinking of this, Luna couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief.

Having the backing of a base certainly had its perks. In the current apocalypse, even Third-order Crystal Cores were exceedingly scarce, let alone Fourth-stage ones.

If the Sunset Squad had to rely solely on their own efforts to hunt down mutated plants and animals, God only knew how long it would take to scrape together that many Fourth-stage Crystal Cores.

Ever since absorbing the Crystal Cores and ascending to the Fourth Rank, Luna had faintly sensed a peculiar fluctuation of energy roaming within her body. However, she had yet to gain proficient control over it or fully unleash its potential.

This period of secluded cultivation in her space was the perfect opportunity to thoroughly study and train it.
