Anser connected to the Spirit Net and informed Stoll, Iris, and the others about the situation in the underground city of Viheral.

He told Stoll to take command at Durlag, quietly muster the troops, and prepare for battle.

Stoll and Iris were both Peak Professionals and could be of great help to him, but their mobility and ability to escape danger weren't particularly strong. A legendary lich could easily single them out and take them down.

Anser himself could come and go as he pleased. He could fight when he wanted and retreat when he wanted. Ordinary professionals couldn't even touch him.

Launching a sneak attack might be a little dishonorable, but against a group of powerful enemies from evil alignments, stubbornly refusing to adapt would only make him look stupid.

Iris and Stoll knew perfectly well how good Anser was at keeping himself alive. They had known each other for so long, yet neither of them had ever seen anyone manage to injure him.

He always looked perfectly composed after every battle!

Even so, the two of them were still somewhat worried. As soon as the call ended, they immediately headed for Durlag, ready to provide support at any moment.

Anser, on the other hand, remained fairly calm. Once everything had been arranged, he circled the white castle twice, inside and out, familiarizing himself with its layout and the locations of his three key opponents.

The castle, built from white stone, didn't cover much ground. It was less than two hundred meters in both length and width and had only three floors, though each floor was extremely tall.

The first floor in particular had a central dome housing the "Ring of Viheral" that stood at least thirty-five meters high.

He felt that this place must originally have been a temple. It had a solemn, dignified atmosphere, yet he hadn't found any divine statue, and even Sehanine Moonbow's holy symbol was rarely seen.

'These undead are spread out a little too much.'

His idea of wiping them all out in one go had fallen through, so he once again set his sights on the lich.

The lich had to die!

A lich had a phylactery, so there was no way to kill one easily. But as long as Anser destroyed its body, it would enter a resurrection period of 1d10 days, during which it would be unable to threaten him.

If he managed to take down the lich, the rest would be easy to deal with.

The Red Wizard might be high-level, but his spellcasting ability definitely hadn't recovered much. His actual combat strength was probably inferior even to that vampire.

Anser returned to the top floor and stared at the tightly shut door. He transformed into his half-dragon form, his imposing dragon head and vicious claws gleaming with a faint metallic chill.

Then magical light flickered across his body as Fire Shield, Mage Armor, Intellect Fortress, and Fly were cast on him one after another.

These spells had long durations. Although Antimagic Field would temporarily suppress them, they would immediately take effect again once the field was dismissed, saving him precious casting time.

Once everything was ready, he didn't hesitate. Spreading his dragon wings, he swept through the Ethereal Plane and into the room.

The spacious room's layout appeared clearly to his Truesight. All the furniture had been removed, leaving circles upon circles of intricate magical patterns drawn across the white-stone floor.

On the side of the array near the window, the lich and the Red Wizard sat facing each other, discussing something.

The lich lived up to its legendary status. The instant Anser's gaze fell upon it, it became alert. Its eyes swept across the room and immediately spotted Anser deep within the Ethereal Plane.

Liches possessed Truesight by nature!

"You!"

The lich abruptly rose to its feet, its gaze cold and sinister, a sneer hanging from the corner of its mouth.

It dreamed of killing Anser, but hadn't dared attack Fort Jacqueline alone. It never expected Anser to deliver himself straight to its doorstep.

Anser didn't slow down in the slightest. The lich had barely gotten the word out before he was already charging toward the two of them.

Then his figure flickered.

He appeared out of thin air on the Material Plane and instantly activated Antimagic Field!

An invisible sphere of antimagic formed around Anser, nearly fifteen meters in diameter, enveloping the entire room.

The expressions of both the lich and the Red Wizard changed drastically. They depended heavily on their spellcasting abilities. Taking away their ability to cast spells was no different from cutting off all four of their limbs and then gagging them for good measure.

It wasn't that they lacked vigilance.

How could a Sorcerer possibly cast Antimagic Field instantly?

This wasn't merely counterintuitive.

It was downright anti-"arcane."

Antimagic Field was a signature spell of Wizards and Clerics. No one had ever heard of a Draconic Bloodline Sorcerer awakening this spell, because even most dragons couldn't use it!

The lich and the Red Wizard didn't hesitate. They immediately turned and ran.

"Hey, old friend~~"

Anser's dragon wings beat rapidly in short strokes, whipping the air inside the room into turbulence. He pushed hard off the floor and used the psionic ability "Speed Boost," his body seeming to blink directly behind the lich.

He raised a dragon claw and activated the legendary ability "Peerless Lock-On"!

In the next instant, every stray thought vanished from his mind. Pure, condensed fighting intent erupted from him and locked firmly onto the lich.

Time itself seemed to stretch.

His mind could perceive every minute movement the lich made, while his body moved on its own. Guided by combat instincts honed through countless battles, his dragon claw swept forward.

'Is this... precognitive correction?'

Anser realized that this was an extraordinary ability far beyond mere combat instinct.

The lich did everything in its power to dodge, yet compared to Anser, the efficiency of its movements was as clumsy as a child's. Instinctively, it activated Deathly Teleport, but the surrounding space was extraordinarily stable. Even a Legendary Action couldn't cause the slightest ripple.

Crack—

The massive dragon claw landed on the lich's shoulder in an instant. With a casual wrench, Anser tore off its shoulder and arm, ripping open its black-and-red chest cavity.

The damage of Dragonkind Transformation was based on his 27 Charisma, and the attack also carried an Intelligence-enhanced Psionic Strike. Strong as the lich's Hit Points were, even it couldn't withstand such brutality.

[You have been struck by the lich's "Paralyzing Touch." You are immune to cold damage and are unaffected by paralysis.]

The lich's bodily trait triggered, but Anser didn't care in the slightest.

His other dragon claw followed immediately, pressing precisely down on the head of the off-balance lich as though it had offered itself up to him.

The claw tightened. Its razor-sharp tips sank deep into the lich's skull. With a slight lift of his arm, Anser hoisted it bodily into the air.

Momentum carried the lich's body forward, leaving it swaying like a dried corpse hanging from a flagpole, drifting in the wind.

"Anser..."

Pop—

Anser applied a little pressure.

The head in his palm burst apart like a shriveled fruit, with little juice inside and a pungent stench of decay.

Even without its head, the lich didn't die immediately.

It staggered back to its feet and thrust one hand toward Anser, its arm trembling slightly, as though it were extremely... angry!

The gesture lasted only an instant. Soon, it collapsed to the ground as though someone had yanked out its spine and went completely still.

[Target killed. You have gained 6,600 experience points.]

'Huh? I actually got experience!'

Anser had already prepared himself to walk away empty-handed. He hadn't expected an unexpected bonus.

After all, a lich had a phylactery. Without some special means, there was no way to truly kill one.

'What exactly did the dice steal from it?'

But now wasn't the time to think about that. The Red Wizard had already escaped.

Anser sent the lich's corpse into the Black Tower prison, then shot out of the room like the wind, just in time to see the Red Wizard cast a teleportation spell and disappear from the corridor.

'He's downstairs!'

Through the Spirit Net, he could sense every disturbance in the surrounding Magic Power.

He dismissed Antimagic Field, cast Dimension Door, and teleported into the first-floor hall.

When the Red Wizard saw Anser appear right behind him, he tensed up completely and quickly ducked into the crowd of undead.

The vampire had no idea what was going on. Seeing this, he sneered and raised a hand toward Anser.

"Kill him!"

The entire horde of undead turned toward Anser in unison, then surged at him.

The vampire remained hidden among the undead instead of charging forward immediately.

Anser wasn't worried in the slightest. He flew up toward the dome and quietly waited for the other side to gather the undead together.

Once the intimidating label of "Thay" was stripped away, these enemies weren't nearly as powerful as he'd imagined. They looked formidable on the outside but were hollow within, and the moment a real fight started, their weakness showed.

The lich that had once left him completely helpless had been beaten to death with two swipes of his claws after only a few short weeks.

Even Anser himself could hardly believe it.

All he could say was that Antimagic Field countered every fancy trick in the book. No matter how powerful your spells and equipment were, none of it mattered unless you had an Artifact.

Meanwhile, the Red Wizard was so furious with the vampire that he nearly lost his mind.

Was there something wrong with this idiot's brain? Didn't he read the news?!

"Don't go over there! He can cast Sunburst! Retreat—"
