The adventurers in the distance forced their bloodshot eyes open, staring through streaming tears at the sun rising from the ground without even blinking.

If they missed a sight like this, they would definitely regret it for the rest of their lives, tormented whenever they heard others bragging about having seen it.

In many people's minds, magic was supposed to be capable of destroying heaven and earth.

In reality, however, most magical effects weren't all that spectacular. Anyone encountering magic for the first time was bound to feel somewhat disappointed. It was only after gaining a proper understanding of it that they could form a more accurate impression.

It made sense when you thought about it. Before reaching the legendary level, you were ultimately still an ordinary person, so there was naturally a limit to how much magical power you could bring to bear.

A Fireball could inspire tremendous awe and fear among ordinary people, but even the "high-level players" present had never witnessed anything like today's spectacle.

Anser himself was extremely satisfied. The upgraded Sunburst covered an area several times larger than before, with a diameter exceeding a hundred meters, and its visual effects were absolutely spectacular.

Unfortunately, due to the design of the spell model, Sunburst couldn't be upcast and could only remain an 8th-level spell.

'It's enough for now.'

At this moment, the Death Knight stood ramrod straight in a corner of the Forcecage, like a pillar. His armor was battered and torn, but his imposing presence hadn't diminished.

The Phantom Steed had long since vanished, leaving him completely alone.

Even now, he didn't believe Anser could kill him. The radiant damage was simply excruciating—a form of torment that reached all the way into his soul.

'Heh. He's got some backbone.'

At first, Anser had felt that he looked far too much like a villain, imprisoning someone and then subjecting them to all kinds of torment. The whole bizarre scene really was rather unsettling.

But now, all he wanted was to purify his opponent.

He raised the Arcanefire Longbow and cast again and again, still using Maximized Sunburst.

The third shot. The fourth!

The center of each blast was right inside the Forcecage, so their power wasn't diminished in the slightest.

The third blast dealt even more damage than the previous ones, while the fourth Sunburst completely overwhelmed the Death Knight's defenses, reducing him to a charred, rotting corpse.

[Target killed. Gained 3,650 experience points.]

'He actually managed to withstand four of my spells.'

After all, an ordinary spellcaster would find it fairly taxing to cast four 8th-level spells in succession. Give the Death Knight even a little room to breathe, and he could counterattack or escape.

Anser flew over to the doorway and looked at the corpse, feeling slightly disappointed.

The armor and weapon carried by the Death Knight were essentially part of the Death Knight himself, rather than any particularly powerful equipment.

Even if he had possessed anything worthwhile, Thay's Red Wizards would have taken it long ago. After all, the Death Knight had already died several times.

'This resurrection will definitely be different from the previous ones!'

Anser also wanted to know what changes would occur to an undead creature after being killed by him.

He turned and waved to Stoll and Iris. "Time to get to work."

Stoll laughed loudly as he flew over at low altitude, rushing past Anser and straight into the castle.

"Leave it to me."

Iris rode her flying carpet over to Anser's side and continued forward alongside him. Her eyes were lowered, and there was a trace of melancholy in her expression.

"What's wrong?" Anser asked curiously.

"Heh, nothing." Iris rolled her eyes at him, then sped up and flew ahead.

For some inexplicable reason, she had a feeling that Fort Jacqueline's bloodline might be about to end.

Anser had no idea what she was thinking, but he didn't feel it was appropriate to press her.

After advancing several dozen meters, he heard Stoll's battle cry mixed with a jumble of shouts.

He quickened his pace and entered the hall.

Corpses lay everywhere. Blood stained the floor, and the entire place was a mess.

In one corner, more than a hundred undead had gathered together and were surrounding and slaughtering over twenty adventurers.

After the Death Knight died, the undead once again lost their restraint. Quite a few of the more "quick-witted" undead had already broken away from the group and fled toward the outside, only to run straight into Stoll.

'Quite a lot of them really did die.'

Of the eighty or ninety adventurers, only a little over twenty had escaped, while just over twenty remained here. More than half of them had died.

Those who were still alive owed it entirely to the red-bearded adventurer. He alone had held off most of the undead's attacks, fully living up to his status as a Peak Professional.

However, his Fighter subclass was Outlaw, which put him at a severe disadvantage when fighting undead.

Outlaws were a group of ruthless, cunning Fighters who believed that "the point of fighting is to win—there's nothing profound about it."

Honor and tradition meant absolutely nothing to them. They didn't play by the rules and would use any means necessary, earning them an infamous reputation.

They excelled at deception, intimidation, and sneak attacks, and loved incorporating professional-grade insults and master-level mockery into their fighting style.

Unfortunately, almost none of that worked against undead, so Redbeard fought in grim silence.

When they saw Anser and the others, life returned to the adventurers' despairing eyes, and they began shouting for help.

"President, save us—!"

"I'm an idiot! I shouldn't have doubted you! Please, save me..."

"..."

Redbeard said nothing, because Anser and the others had already begun fighting.

Looking at the dozens of undead that had already died, Anser couldn't help feeling a little heartache. Those were valuable experience points!

There weren't any low-level skeletons among these undead, nor were there any exceptionally powerful ones. They were just right for farming experience.

Worried about accidentally hitting the adventurers, he didn't use any large-area attack spells. Instead, he continuously picked off the undead with upcast Guiding Bolts.

A 2nd- or 3rd-level Guiding Bolt was enough to instantly kill weaker undead. For the tougher ones, he used 4th-, 5th-, or 6th-level versions, maintaining efficiency without wasting too much power.

Stoll and Iris weren't slow at killing them either. Stoll in particular was practically an all-rounder when enhanced by spells, equally capable of taking down tough opponents or mowing through weaker enemies.

After seeing Stoll's combat prowess, Redbeard's expression became even more complicated.

They were both Fighters standing at the pinnacle of humanity, yet if Stoll had been in his place earlier, those undead could never have trapped him.

Before long, the undead were almost completely wiped out.

Anser left the cleanup to Stoll and the Wildfire Spirit while he moved through the castle, rescuing several adventurers who were on the verge of death.

Redbeard gathered the corpses of his guild's adventurers together with his few remaining subordinates, then obediently waited off to the side for Anser.

The other adventurers were also exceptionally well-behaved and didn't dare wander around.

Once Anser finished his work, he slowly walked over to them and sighed.

"Now do you understand? Do I have any reason to lie to you?"

"I killed that Death Knight, but he'll resurrect again. It could happen at any point tomorrow."

The adventurers' expressions changed slightly. None of them wanted to remain here for even another minute.

"Go on, get out of here." Anser waved them away.

Everyone scattered at once, some of them not even bothering with their companions' corpses.

Redbeard bowed slightly to Anser, put the corpses into an extradimensional bag, then turned and left with his people without saying a single word throughout the entire process.

He wasn't a good man, but in front of Anser, he didn't even dare entertain the thought of shifting the blame.

Powerful Professionals were few and far between. After constantly hearing praise from everyone around them, most inevitably developed a certain degree of arrogance. Until they actually fought, no one was willing to admit inferiority.

But today, he had lost both his dignity and his reputation.

The Death Knight wouldn't have needed even half a minute to kill him, while Anser had taken even less time to kill the Death Knight.

The gap between Professionals was greater than the gap between a human and a dog.

Anser was in a good mood. This encounter had netted him another ten thousand-plus experience points, while also allowing him to establish his authority and make his sovereignty over the dungeon clear. That would save him a great deal of trouble in the future.

'Now I just need to see when the Death Knight resurrects. If I can keep farming the same monster over and over...'
