The Being Who Existed Before the Omniverse

Chapter 54: The Words He Never Said

  • Next Chapter

The Empty Void remained silent.

For the first time since the battle began-

No shockwaves erupted.

No Genesis Echoes spread across existence.

No Chronofractures tore through distant timelines.

No Worldscars appeared upon Reality Weaves.

Everything was still.

As though existence itself understood that what came next mattered more than any battle.

Astraith stood motionless.

Golden eyes fixed upon Vlox.

The dragon’s heart pounded.

A ridiculous thing.

A foolish thing.

A terrifying thing.

After all-

She had fought beings capable of destroying realities.

She had faced horrors born before civilizations.

She had challenged entities that ruled entire dimensions.

Yet somehow-

Standing in front of Vlox made her more nervous than all of them combined.

The creator of the Omniverse remained silent.

His hand was still raised between them.

Not as a threat.

Not as a weapon.

Simply there.

A gesture so simple.

Yet it carried a weight greater than countless universes.

“Astraith.”

His voice echoed softly.

The dragon swallowed.

“…What?”

The answer came out weaker than she intended.

Vlox stared at her.

For several moments-

He said nothing.

As though organizing thoughts he had never spoken aloud before.

Then he sighed.

A genuine sigh.

Not playful.

Not teasing.

A real one.

And somehow-

That frightened Astraith more than any attack.

Because Vlox almost never hesitated.

Yet right now-

He was.

The realization made her heart tighten.

Then he finally spoke.

“You asked me what happens if one day I don’t come back.”

The dragon’s hands slowly clenched.

The question.

The one she had been carrying for years.

The one hidden beneath every argument.

Every complaint.

Every fear.

Every sleepless night.

Vlox continued.

“The truth is…”

His voice became quieter.

“I don’t know.”

Silence.

The Empty Void froze.

Astraith froze.

Everything froze.

For a moment-

She genuinely thought she had misheard.

The creator of the Omniverse looked away.

“The future isn’t absolute.”

The dragon remained silent.

“There are things even I cannot perfectly predict.”

The words sounded impossible.

Unbelievable.

Yet Vlox wasn’t joking.

For perhaps the first time in their countless years together-

The strongest being in existence was admitting uncertainty.

The dragon stared.

Unable to speak.

Unable to move.

Unable to understand what she was feeling.

Then Vlox looked back at her.

His expression calm.

Honest.

Human.

Terrifyingly human.

“I don’t know what will happen tomorrow.”

The Empty Void listened.

“I don’t know what dangers will appear.”

Reality listened.

“I don’t know whether existence will remain peaceful.”

The Existence Lattice listened.

“I don’t know whether I’ll always win.”

Astraith’s eyes widened.

Because Vlox wasn’t supposed to say things like that.

Vlox wasn’t supposed to be uncertain.

Vlox wasn’t supposed to have doubts.

Vlox wasn’t supposed to feel vulnerable.

Yet here he was.

Standing before her.

Showing her a side he rarely revealed.

Then he smiled.

A small smile.

A genuine one.

“But I know something else.”

The dragon’s breathing slowed.

The Empty Void remained silent.

“What?”

Vlox looked directly into her eyes.

And answered immediately.

“I always choose to come back.”

Silence.

Absolute silence.

The words echoed through infinity.

Not because they were powerful.

Not because they carried authority.

But because they were true.

The dragon stared.

Her mind suddenly became blank.

The fear.

The anger.

The frustration.

Everything disappeared.

Leaving only those words.

I always choose to come back.

Not fate.

Not destiny.

Not power.

Choice.

Every time.

Again.

And again.

And again.

Astraith lowered her head.

Silver hair concealed her face.

For several moments-

Nothing happened.

Then-

A single tear fell.

The Empty Void trembled.

Not from power.

Not from destruction.

Emotion.

The dragon immediately wiped her eyes.

Then became annoyed.

Then embarrassed.

Then annoyed at being embarrassed.

An unfortunately familiar cycle.

Vlox wisely remained silent.

The dragon pointed at him.

Without looking up.

“You saw nothing.”

“I saw nothing.”

“Good.”

The answer came instantly.

Far too instantly.

Astraith narrowed her eyes.

“You definitely saw something.”

“…Maybe.”

“VLOX.”

The creator of the Omniverse decided retreat was the correct decision.

A rare moment of wisdom.

Unfortunately-

The dragon wasn’t finished.

“Do you know how unfair you are?”

The question made Vlox pause.

“What did I do?”

The dragon looked up.

Golden eyes slightly red.

“You say things like that.”

“…”

“Then expect me to stay angry.”

“…”

“That’s impossible.”

Vlox blinked.

The dragon crossed her arms.

Looking genuinely offended.

As though this was somehow his fault.

The creator of the Omniverse considered arguing.

Then immediately decided against it.

Some battles simply weren’t worth fighting.

The Empty Void remained quiet.

For the first time since their arrival-

Peace began returning.

The Origin Threads drifted calmly.

Reality Weaves stabilized.

The Existence Lattice slowly repaired itself.

Worldscars faded.

Chronofractures healed.

The damage caused by their battle gradually disappeared.

Astraith looked around.

Only now realizing how much destruction they had caused.

“…We may have overdone it.”

Vlox looked around as well.

The Empty Void resembled a disaster zone.

“…A little.”

The dragon stared.

“A little?”

“Moderately.”

“Moderately?”

“Possibly more than moderately.”

The dragon immediately started laughing.

A genuine laugh.

The first real laugh since the battle began.

And somehow-

Hearing it made Vlox smile.

The dragon noticed.

Immediately.

Of course she did.

Her eyes narrowed.

“You are smiling again.”

“A little.”

“Stop that.”

“No.”

Silence.

The dragon blinked.

Vlox blinked.

For perhaps the first time in existence-

The creator of the Omniverse had deliberately refused.

Astraith looked shocked.

Then suspicious.

Then extremely suspicious.

The dragon took a step closer.

“What are you planning?”

“Nothing.”

“That’s exactly what someone planning something would say.”

Vlox sighed.

There was no winning this conversation.

Then Astraith suddenly remembered something.

The realization struck her like lightning.

Her eyes widened.

Her expression changed.

Dangerously.

Vlox immediately noticed.

And immediately became concerned.

“Astraith.”

The dragon pointed at him.

“No.”

“Astraith.”

“No.”

The creator of the Omniverse suddenly recognized that look.

And for perhaps the first time in several millennia-

He felt genuine concern.

The dragon’s cheeks became slightly red.

Then slightly more red.

Then significantly more red.

Finally-

She spoke.

“You still haven’t answered.”

Vlox frowned.

“Answered what?”

The dragon pointed accusingly.

“The important question.”

“What important question?”

Astraith looked genuinely offended.

“The girl.”

Silence.

The Empty Void froze.

Vlox froze.

Reality Weaves froze.

Even several nearby Origin Threads seemed interested.

The dragon crossed her arms.

“I asked first.”

“…”

“You never answered.”

“…”

“There are countless universes.”

“…”

“Countless women.”

“…”

“And I still don’t trust them.”

The creator of the Omniverse closed his eyes.

Slowly.

Very slowly.

As though searching for patience hidden somewhere within creation itself.

Unfortunately-

He couldn’t find any.

When he opened his eyes again-

Astraith was still waiting.

Very seriously waiting.

The dragon clearly intended to receive an answer.

One way or another.

Vlox stared.

Astraith stared.

The Empty Void watched.

Existence watched.

Several curious Origin Threads watched.

Then the creator of the Omniverse finally sighed.

Again.

“Astraith.”

The dragon immediately straightened.

Ready.

Prepared.

Focused.

Vlox looked directly into her eyes.

And answered.

“There is only one dragon who causes me this much trouble.”

The dragon froze.

“There is only one dragon who destroys higher existence because she’s embarrassed.”

Astraith’s face turned red.

“There is only one dragon who starts multiversal battles because she overthinks.”

The redness spread further.

“And there is only one dragon I would choose.”

Silence.

Absolute silence.

The Empty Void stopped moving.

Reality stopped moving.

Even Astraith stopped moving.

The dragon’s mind became completely blank.

Then-

BOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

Golden energy exploded across infinity.

The Existence Lattice shook.

Reality Weaves trembled.

Origin Threads fled.

Again.

The dragon immediately covered her face.

“VLOX!”

The creator of the Omniverse smiled.

And for once-

He didn’t stop himself.
