The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress
Chapter 1336 - 1276: Jack’s Suicide
Brevon, Sanchez Castle.
Jack set the Castle on fire...
This Castle where the Rowell Family had lived for generations,
This Castle where Laura was born.
As the last member of the Rowell Family, Jack decided to perish together with this Castle.
He no longer had any reason to go on living.
Jack stayed in his granddaughter Laura’s room, flames already rising all around him.
Looking at his granddaughter’s photo, Jack smiled and said, "Laura, the boy you liked has avenged you. You can rest in peace now..."
"..."
"That Adrian Desmond, Grandpa likes him a lot. If only you were still alive. Let him be your Husband, and have lots and lots of children with him..."
Sadly, from the moment he lost Laura, his Laura would never again have any chance at happiness.
Jack regretted it all his life.
When his son and daughter-in-law died while searching for Laura, Jack felt he no longer had the right to live.
"Laura, Grandpa shouldn’t have gotten drunk and lost you..." Jack wept old tears, drowning in remorse.
He lost Laura, and then indirectly caused his son and daughter-in-law’s deaths... He was a sinner. When he died, he would go to hell... When he died, he would never see Laura and the others who were living in heaven.
The air around him turned unbearably hot, the roaring flames surged up, swallowing Jack whole.
...
Oak Tree Hotel,
As soon as Adrian Desmond arrived at the Hotel, he headed straight for Sienna Johnson’s room. Sienna was fussing with the clothes and toys she’d bought for the kids, her expression soft, as if she were looking at her babies.
"You’re back?"
Sienna picked up a colorful seashell and said, "Adrian, look at this seashell, it’s so pretty. I wonder if Curly will like it?"
"..."
"That girl’s got her head buried in money, she probably likes diamonds more..." Sienna set the shell down and shook her head.
"Night Owl is dead!" Adrian suddenly said.
Sienna’s expression froze, her mood like a bottle of five-flavor spices knocked over, impossible to put into words.
Adrian walked over, stared at her face, displeased with how she was reacting. "He’s dead. Aren’t you supposed to be happy?"
"..."
"Why do you look like that? Makes me think you didn’t want him to die."
Sienna gave him a smile and asked, "Then can we go back to Sileria City now? Look, I bought so many gifts for the kids..."
"..."
"This is a little hand drum, the sound is really nice..." Sienna tapped out a rhythm with the hand drum.
Adrian yanked Sienna toward him, pinned her beneath him, and thrust into her roughly. Seeing her brows knit in pain, he still slowed down.
"Night Owl is dead, you should be smiling!" Adrian said.
"Adrian, I want to go home!"
She wrapped her arms around his neck, burying her face against his collarbone. "Let’s settle down in Sileria City, okay? Adrian, right now I just want a quiet, peaceful life."
"Mm, we’ll go back to Sileria City."
"..."
Adrian completely dropped his earlier idea of taking Sienna back to Abyanabad, saying, "If you don’t want to go back to Abyanabad, then we’ll settle down in Sileria City.
As long as we’re together, anywhere is fine."
Sienna stared at Adrian in surprise, she hadn’t expected this man to actually agree to go settle down with her in Sileria City.
She kissed his lips and said, "Once we’re back in Sileria City, I’ll support you."
"I’ll kill you!"
"Adrian, be gentle, it hurts." She complained in a coquettish tone.
"In a bit you’ll be begging me to move faster." He bit her earlobe, murmuring in a sultry voice.
"Jerk, all you do is bully me."
Adrian ripped her clothes apart. The woman beneath him looked as seductive as a blooming poppy. He possessed her, staking his claim.
In the middle of the night, Adrian suddenly got a message—news that Jack had burned himself to death.
Sienna, lying beside him, woke up too. When she learned what had happened to Jack, she felt awful.
The reason Jack chose suicide was probably because he had nothing left to live for.
"Night Owl is already dead. Why would he still kill himself?" Adrian asked, baffled.
He’d only met Jack a few times, but the two of them had really hit it off. With Jack dead, Adrian felt bad too.
Holding Adrian, Sienna said, "Maybe death is a kind of release for him."
Sienna thought of those "bereaved-only-child" families in Orienta, those parents whose kids had been abducted by traffickers and who never stopped searching.
A child isn’t like other things. No matter how precious a piece of jewelry is, once it’s lost, it’s lost. After enough time, you can move on.
But children are different.
They’re a lifetime of longing and worry, a lifetime of everything your heart is tied to. Sienna couldn’t even imagine losing any one of her four kids.
"Sienna, we’ll go back to Sileria City tomorrow."
"Mm."
The two of them held each other, sharing warmth and soothing those hearts that felt so cold.
...
They’d planned to leave the next day, but Sienna decided to stay one more day to buy gifts for the kids and family.
She’d been gone so long; if she didn’t coax the four kids properly, they’d probably be mad at her.
Sienna dragged Adrian around shopping for an entire day.
In the end, Adrian simply strong-armed this buy-buy-buy woman and hauled her straight back to the Hotel.
"Adrian, there’s still so much I haven’t bought."
"Mrs. Desmond, we’re out of money."
Sienna: ...
They couldn’t pay by card here, only cash, and Sienna had always been the frugal type. Adrian hadn’t brought that much cash, and who would’ve thought this woman could buy this much.
Of course, he could have Brandon Potter or Marion, who were trailing behind, go withdraw more money, but Adrian was about to lose it.
He had never imagined that a woman going shopping could be this terrifying.
Even running 50 kilometers under a heavy load hadn’t tired him out this much.
...
The next day, Sienna got up early, cheerfully packing their things. The smile on her face hadn’t left once.
Seeing Sienna like this, Adrian finally relaxed. He’d really been scared Sienna might have developed feelings for Night Owl.
"Why does it feel like the more I pack, the more stuff there is?" Sienna squatted there, looking at the three big suitcases on the floor. There was still stuff on the bed that wouldn’t fit.
"Can’t you throw some of it out?"
"They’re all for the kids. I can’t bear to."
In the end Adrian had no choice but to send Alyssa out to buy more suitcases.
It took five suitcases to finally get everything packed.
Arms folded over her chest, Sienna stared at the five suitcases on the floor, frowning. "Adrian, how much money do you have left?"
Adrian: ...
"All the stuff for Curly is just cheap little trinkets. I’m scared she won’t like them."
Sienna turned to Adrian, complaining, "It’s all your fault. You’re always giving her diamonds, and when you give them, you give them by the box. How is she supposed to look at my cheap junk after that?"
Adrian really didn’t want to go shopping with this crazy woman ever again.
"My daughter is not that shallow! As long as it’s from you, she’ll love it, even if it’s not worth much."
"Adrian, so you think it’s not worth much too?"
Adrian: ...
