The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress
Chapter 1339 - 1279: Bittersweet, Not Bad After All
"I just said I would convey his message to Paige, I didn’t promise to persuade Paige to come back.
The mother-in-law and daughter-in-law issue is a big deal, I can’t handle it." Sienna Johnson said with a headache.
"Kiya doesn’t think that way." Adrian Desmond said.
"So what should we do?"
Adrian didn’t have any sympathy for Sienna, scolding her, "You deserve it for meddling."
Sienna glared at him, picked up a lotus flower, and hit Adrian with it. Adrian was fine, but the lotus flower shattered.
"Your sister and Kiya already have two children, it’s not right to just break up, right?
As the saying goes, if there’s a stepmother, there’s a stepfather. If Kiya finds a stepmother for the kids, won’t they be so pitiful then."
"Queen Mother is not easy to get along with." Adrian said.
"Sigh, it’s really worrying." Sienna sighed and said.
The Queen Mother is Kiya’s biological mother, you can’t scold or fight her, nor can you cut ties.
Sienna knows many couples with good relationships, who broke up precisely because of the in-law relationship.
Isn’t there a saying?
If your wife is gone, you can marry again; if your biological mother is gone, she’s gone, so your biological mother is much more important than your wife.
"You’re lucky, my mother passed away early, you don’t have to face these problems." Adrian joked.
Sienna looked at Adrian, feeling a pang of heartache for a moment.
She was an orphan at birth, while Adrian experienced a huge family change, losing both parents when he was still a child, and had to take care of his younger sister.
To have experienced motherly love and then lose it is more painful than never having received it at all.
"But I still wish my mother-in-law was alive. Even if she might not like me, I wish she were alive."
"..."
"Kids without mothers are too pitiful... now whenever I think about how your parents died when you were so young, it breaks my heart."
Don’t look at Adrian’s current successful appearance; he was pitiful for a while back then.
"You pity me?"
Adrian smiled, this woman had a sadder childhood than him, yet she still sympathizes with him?
"Fool, it’s heartache."
"Then shouldn’t I feel even more sorry for you? You were thrown into an orphanage right after you were born, you’re much more pitiful than me."
Sienna smiled, with that kind of smile that truly faces the past, "Yes, it was a bit pitiful. But fortunately, I’m very happy now. Because I’m so happy, the past hardships don’t matter anymore."
"Me too."
After adversity comes relief, that’s not bad, either.
...
For dinner, Sienna cooked herself.
Adrian, a big man, didn’t care about those rules that men shouldn’t enter the kitchen, and helped Sienna in the kitchen.
Sienna ordered him to peel onions and wash vegetables, and Adrian cooperated well.
"... When I leave, remember to eat on time, rest on time, and don’t smoke or drink." Sienna instructed with worry.
Sienna noticed that Adrian had been smoking a lot recently, finishing a cigarette in two or three puffs, scaring her. She had told him off a few times, but the man would sneakily smoke behind her back and then chew gum to cover the smell.
"Got it."
Sienna saw that this man wasn’t listening to her at all, and said angrily, "You’re just going through the motions with me. After all, it’s your body. If you don’t cherish your body, and it breaks down, and you go before me, I’ll remarry!"
Adrian stabbed the knife into the cutting board, glaring at Sienna angrily, "You woman!"
"..."
"If you keep talking nonsense, do you believe I’ll kill you?" Adrian said viciously.
Sienna served up some soup, tasted it, and added a bit more salt, not intimidated by Adrian.
"Okay, okay, I won’t smoke anymore." Adrian saw that his woman’s expression changed and softened first.
Sienna smiled at him and fed him a spoonful of old duck soup, "How does it taste?"
This slap and a date approach, Sienna mastered it perfectly.
"A little bland."
"Too much salt isn’t good for your health. You should eat a lighter diet from now on."
Adrian, who loves meat, said, "I’m not a monk in a temple, and you want me to eat just veggies every day? ... I’m not seventy or eighty yet; do you need to start living healthily so soon?"
Sienna said seriously, "You suffered so many injuries when you were young. You don’t feel it now, but it’ll trouble you when you get older. When we get back to Sileria City, I’ll take good care of you."
Adrian felt warm inside and said softly, "Alright."
"But first, quit smoking and drinking!"
"I had already quit smoking, but once you were captured by Night Owl, I started again."
"Then you cannot smoke anymore in the future."
"Alright!"
Adrian’s business was handed over to his subordinates to manage, so as the boss he basically didn’t make appearances. Without those social engagements, Adrian could control his smoking and drinking.
...
Dinner consisted mainly of vegetarian food, the only meat being the old duck soup.
Because it was just the two of them, Sienna didn’t prepare much, just enough for the two of them to eat.
"Is it tasty?" Seeing that Adrian’s chopsticks didn’t stop, Sienna was very pleased.
"It’s delicious, much better than what our home chef cooks."
Sienna placed some stir-fried lotus root into Adrian’s bowl.
The lotus root had been pulled from Mirror Lake during the day, very fresh, and didn’t need much seasoning to be tasty.
"How long until you can return to Sileria City?"
"At most a month," Adrian answered.
"Then I’ll wait for you at home with the kids."
Adrian looked up to meet Sienna’s gentle, detailed eyes. When this woman is gentle, she can melt you.
"I’ll try to come back sooner."
"Hmm."
"..."
"There’s still some old duck soup left, do you want some?" Sienna was already full.
"Hmm."
Sienna only drank the soup without eating the meat; the half duck ended up all in Adrian’s stomach.
"Aren’t you worried about not digesting after eating so much meat at night?"
Sienna had a small appetite, and soon she was full, resting her cheek on her hand watching Adrian eat, and Adrian, thick-skinned, wasn’t afraid of her watching.
Adrian replied, "Eating well will make it easier to do you at night!"
Those words instantly turned Sienna’s face red, and she glared at him, refusing to look at him anymore.
"You’re leaving tomorrow, and we’re going to be apart for a long time again. Don’t you think you should fill me up tonight?" Adrian requested.
"I remember you have a blow-up doll, don’t you? Just use the blow-up doll when you can’t hold it in."
"A high-quality imitation can’t compare to the real thing..." Adrian gave a playful smile, only to be met with another sharp glare from Sienna.
"You wash the dishes!"
"Sienna, let’s try different positions tonight..."
Sienna saw that the man was being naughty again, ignored him, and went straight back to the room.
The room was very clean, filled with the fragrance of lotus, and there was a lotus pod on the table, and the lotus seeds were very tempting.
