The Bigshot Married Himself to the Heiress

Chapter 1437 - 1377: Called an Unfilial Daughter

  • Next Chapter

Sileria City Medical Association,

Sienna Johnson sat in Graham Robertson’s former office, discussing with him the matter of establishing a pharmaceutical e-commerce platform.

Sienna had been planning this for a long time, since she took over the Eastminster Group. She just wasn’t capable enough at the time.

Graham Robertson focused intently on the proposal Sienna had crafted, causing her some nervousness as she waited.

Graham nearly paused to think after every few sentences, and it took him a full half hour before he finally closed the proposal booklet.

Sienna watched Graham nervously, like a student waiting for a teacher to grade their work, "Uncle Robertson, do you think my proposal is feasible?"

"The proposal is well done, just needs a few refinements then it will be excellent. However, executing it will be challenging."

Graham introduced Sienna to the current state of the medical association, detailing it thoroughly, information he wouldn’t have shared if he didn’t value Sienna highly.

"...Although most of the pharmaceutical industry in Sileria City has joined, the member cohesion is insufficient, each focused on their own little interests.

Your intent to integrate all resources will surely require some to relinquish part of their interests, and these people might not be so cooperative."

Sienna optimistically said, "I’ll persuade them."

Graham laughed, "If you succeed in this, you’ll have done something remarkable."

"Uncle Robertson, please guide me more."

"Certainly. Even for the sake of your mother, I will assist you."

Graham proactively mentioned Pauline Briggs, which put Sienna in a bind, unsure of how to broach the topic with him.

"Sienna, did you ask about the matter I requested?" Graham brought it up himself.

Sienna whispered, "I asked."

"What did your mom say?"

"My mom? ...My mom’s only heart is for my father and she doesn’t plan to seek anyone else."

Pauline Briggs was still mad at Sienna, even scolded Dexter Johnson for indulging her, accusing her of being unfilial.

"Sorry, Uncle Robertson."

Graham sat there, arms crossed on his lap, silent.

The scene became somewhat awkward, with Sienna feeling even more embarrassed discussing this matter as Pauline Briggs’ daughter.

"Uncle Robertson, actually my mom isn’t as good as you imagine. She’s just somewhat beautiful, but even beauty can’t mask her old age."

Graham suddenly laughed, "Do you always speak of your mother like this?"

"I’m just being honest."

"She’s wonderful. My biggest regret in life is not marrying Pauline Briggs."

Graham was quite gentlemanly, and hadn’t transferred any resentment from the rejection onto Sienna.

"Thank you for this. Without you, I would never have had the courage to ask in my lifetime." Graham sincerely thanked her.

"I didn’t help you much; saying this makes me embarrassed."

"You’ve conveyed my feelings to her, and for that, I’m satisfied. Despite the rejection, I’m still very pleased."

Graham had liked Pauline Briggs for a long time and still liked her.

Graham stood and said, "My son has settled in Canada and knowing that I’ve retired, he’s been inviting me to move there. Initially, I held onto a glimmer of hope, that if your mom truly had any interest in me, I would stay. Now...

I plan to immigrate to Canada."

Sienna said, "Canada is wonderful, the air is good, the environment is beautiful, there are plenty of the Orienta Diaspora, which is quite suitable for retirement."

Graham profoundly remarked, "A golden nest or silver nest isn’t as good as one’s own dog nest."

If Pauline Briggs had given him a chance, Graham would rather stay in Sileria City.

...

A month later, Graham Robertson left Orienta and settled in Canada.

Before leaving, Graham helped Sienna establish the platform, taking charge of all personnel related to the project. Without his help, things wouldn’t have gone so smoothly.

Sienna personally went to the airport to see Graham off. When she returned, she bumped into Pauline Briggs, who turned and walked away upon seeing her.

"Mom, I’m back." Sienna chased after her, proactively hugging Pauline’s arm.

"Mom, are you still mad? Really, this is just silly, how can you hold a grudge against your own daughter overnight? Don’t you agree?"

Pauline shrugged her off but couldn’t shake her loose, "Go away, I don’t want to talk to you, the unfilial daughter."

"Mom, it’s been so many days and you’re still angry with me. I’m your biological daughter, why do you have to treat me this way.

I realize my mistake and I apologize. Please forgive me."

"You’re not my biological! My real daughter wouldn’t put me in such a position."

This was too heavy a burden for Sienna to bear.

"Mom, I was wrong. Please forgive me this once." Sienna meekly apologized to Pauline Briggs.

Pauline looked at Sienna with eyes full of disappointment, "Sienna Johnson, I’m truly disappointed in you. You plan to sell your own mother for business affairs."

"Mom, your words are too severe. How could I possibly sell you out?"

"Don’t think I don’t know, you’ve been busy with that...that platform. Graham Robertson has been helping you all along, and feeling indebted, you plan to sell me to Pauline Briggs!"

"Mom, I’m wronged!" Sienna couldn’t fathom why Pauline thought this way.

"Sienna Johnson, don’t think I’m stupid! I’ve heard about it."

"Who told you that?"

Pauline was enraged, "It’s spread everywhere, all saying you sold your own mom just to become President."

"..."

"Sienna Johnson, you’re really something. Your father doted on you so much before he died, and now you’re doing something so traitorous."

"..."

"Your dad certainly thought I would remarry, now I can’t even dream of him. Sienna, you heartless girl, go away, I don’t want to talk to you."

Pauline seemed greatly wronged, and began crying, "Brother Dexter, is this the daughter you cherished dearly? You doted on her for nothing."

"Mom, I’m truly wronged."

Pauline cried and walked away as if bullied by Sienna, who stood there, not daring to chase her, fearing she might agitate her further.

"What’s all this about?"

Samara came home from school and greeted her sister, "Sister..."

"Why are you back?"

Since the second semester of her senior year, Samara had begun staying on campus, although her stays were sporadic due to the approaching college entrance exams, with Sienna pushing her to actually stay at school.

"Sister, I come home once a month, and today happened to be the day."

"So soon?"

Samara said mournfully, "Quick? It feels like eternity at school."

"Endure these few months and then the future will be bright."
