The Blind Side Character is an (SSS)-Rank Esper
Chapter 71: He can do that too?!
Zephyr raised an eyebrow, then chuckled. His voice carried a hint of amusement.
"Alright. Let us cause some chaos."
It was only after hearing his response that Lucien realized what he had blurted out. He immediately cleared his throat sheepishly.
"I mean, let us help them out! I have seen firsthand that you can run around without anyone’s help. I know you can make a real difference! That ability you used before to kill a Demon by yourself is proof enough!"
He patted Zephyr’s shoulder.
His expression turned serious.
"Still, the moment you feel your energy becoming corrupted, stop immediately. Do not wait until you are about to go berserk. The instant you sense something is wrong with your body, retreat. I will guide you."
Zephyr suppressed his smile.
"I know."
Lucien felt strangely pleased by his words. It was almost as if he were being obedient.
"Good. While you are fighting, I will warn you loudly if you are in danger from this place. Ah, hold on..."
He paused, then asked hesitantly.
"Will you be able to hear me?"
Zephyr rolled up his sleeves and stepped forward, preparing to leap from the high structure and head toward the monsters.
"I can. Just shout, and I will know."
Lucien felt a flicker of worry.
His hand instinctively reached out to stop him; however, he quickly stopped himself.
Even though Zephyr was blind, he was an SSS-rank Esper. The only one in existence.
If Lucien kept stopping him from fighting every time there was danger, Zephyr would never have the chance to grow stronger.
Only by trusting him, allowing him to step forward and fight, and letting him gain real battle experience with his disability could Zephyr truly learn how to control his power.
Lucien slowly lowered his hand.
"Go on, then."
There was still worry in his eyes, but this time, he did not stop Zephyr. Unlike Erick and everyone else, he would trust him.
After all, Zephyr was his only hope of returning home. He had to believe him.
Zephyr turned his head toward Lucien one last time. Although Zephyr could not see him, he could sense exactly where he was.
Before jumping, he made sure Lucien was inside the circle of his mana. Then, without another word, Zephyr stepped off the edge.
Lucien’s heart nearly stopped.
"Zephyr!"
He had only just decided to trust Zephyr, and that idiot had already thrown himself off from such a height without hesitation!
Rushing to the edge, Lucien looked down.
Horrified, just as he thought Zephyr was about to plummet to his death, the rubble below suddenly began to shift violently.
Without warning, several massive chunks of broken structures tore themselves free from the rubble and shot up into the air.
Lucien’s eyes widened.
The fragments rose one after another, forming a path beneath Zephyr. One piece surged beneath him, catching his feet and abruptly slowing his fall. Before it could drop, another fragment rose beneath it.
Then another.
Zephyr stepped from one floating piece of rubble to the next, using them as stepping stones until he reached the ground safely.
He landed as lightly as if he had simply walked down a flight of normal stairs.
Lucien questioned in disbelief.
"Damn... He can do that too?!"
No one answered him.
He could only collapse onto his butt and curse quietly to calm his racing heartbeat.
Zephyr, who had heard his question from far below, chuckled softly and ran forward without glancing back. His psychokinesis skill spread out, allowing him to sense and perceive everything in his surroundings. The furious roars of monsters, sounds of battle, and shouts of Espers amplified in his ears.
He did not rush toward where the powerful S-ranks were clashing. Instead, he rushed toward the tide of monsters the lower-rank Espers were fighting without slowing down.
As he drew closer to the battlefield, some of the Guides in the small area surrounded by a shield finally noticed his running figure.
Among them was Eleven, who was sitting on a broken bench while guiding Sylvia.
"Another Esper?"
At first, Eleven merely glanced at the figure before looking away, thinking it was another Esper rushing toward the battlefield to help.
But as he turned his head away, he suddenly froze.
His eyes widened.
He snapped his head back toward the running figure. Eleven could not see the Esper’s face, only the clothes from behind.
Yet those clothes were unmistakable.
He had seen them before leaving the Association!
Eleven immediately recognized them.
"Zephyr?!"
He shot to his feet, shouting so suddenly that Sylvia, who was sitting opposite him, flinched.
"What?"
She immediately followed his gaze and spotted the distant running figure. Before she could say anything, Eleven tightened his grip on her hand and cursed out loud.
"Does that guy want to die? Why is he running straight toward the monsters! I searched for him in the safe zone, but he was not there! I thought he might already be dead! And now that I know he is alive, he’s running straight toward his death!"
Eleven was furious.
That damn blind guy had already been a headache, and now he was making things worse by throwing himself into danger!
He released Sylvia’s hand and quickly pointed toward Zephyr’s running figure.
"Sylvia, bring that running guy back! He is blind and only a B-rank! Yet he is running straight toward the monsters! I know, one bite from a monster and he will be gone!"
Sylvia stood up, shaking her hand slightly because Eleven had gripped it too tightly.
Her eyes narrowed as she stared at the distant figure with a displeased frown.
"It’s him."
Not far away, Ryan Wales, her younger brother, who had been receiving guiding from another Guide, stood up as well.
Having heard Eleven’s shout, he fixed his eyes on the distant running figure as well.
"Zephyr, huh..."
Ryan had originally planned to visit the Association to check whether the Zephyr there was the same Zephyr they knew.
However, just as he was getting ready to leave, the emergency in B City occurred.
He and Sylvia came here to help instead after receiving a call from their parents.
As a result, Ryan never got the chance to visit the Association and confirm Zephyr’s identity. To think he would see him here...
What a coincidence.
The guy was even rushing to his death.
A cold sneer curled across Ryan’s lips.
"I guess we are finally getting rid of him."
There was no concern in his voice.
If anything, his voice sounded almost pleased by the thought as he sat back down, as if waiting to see a good show.
Noticing that Sylvia was still standing motionless, Eleven urged her to hurry.
"Sylvia, hurry and go. He is going to get himself killed at this rate! Save that idiot!"
Hearing the commotion, several other Guides glanced toward them, murmuring among themselves as they looked in the direction Eleven was currently pointing.
Sylvia rolled her eyes inwardly.
She really did not want to go!
But she had to maintain her persona, so she forced a smile and nodded at Eleven. Still, she deliberately kept her pace slow.
Then, without warning, the figure in the distance suddenly accelerated. His speed increased so abruptly that, in the next instant, his figure became a mere blur.
Sylvia stopped in her tracks.
"!?"
Even Ryan and Eleven were startled, let alone the other Guides who had been attracted by the sudden commotion.
Ryan abruptly rose to his feet.
"What the..."
His words trailed off as Eleven exclaimed loudly with a dumbfounded expression.
"Why is he so fast?"
One had to know that Eleven had met and seen many S-rank Espers over the years.
Even his brother was an S-rank Esper!
Yet this was the first time he had ever seen a B-rank Esper move faster than an S-rank!
In the end, the only words he could muster to describe what he was witnessing were:
"He’s faster than Erick!"
Many of the people around him were left speechless by his words, especially those who had failed to notice Zephyr until now.
But what happened next left everyone watching that direction frozen in shock.
In the distance, a massive wave of rubble erupted from every direction, surging into the air like a tsunami and gathering into a towering mountain that overshadowed the many Espers and monsters fighting below.
The suddenly appearing large mountain above them startled the Espers, causing them to instinctively brace themselves.
Yet, not a single piece struck them.
Instead, the massive mountain, formed entirely from the remnants of shattered buildings, concrete, and fallen structures, surged deeper into the chaotic battlefield.
It swept straight into the heart of the monster tide.
Then, one after another, large chunks of broken concrete, walls, and jagged stones rained down from the sky like falling stars, crashing into the tide and killing countless monsters beneath their immense weight.
Eleven’s jaw dropped.
Such a powerful skill?!
Who could have used it?!
The same question echoed through the minds of everyone who saw the scene.
Even the S-rank Espers fighting in the distance were drawn to the commotion.
While the others could only stare at the mountain of floating rubble, the floating S-rank Espers could see far beyond what those watching from below could. With their enhanced vision, they could clearly make out the tall, lone figure standing at the very top of the mountain of debris.
