The Blind Side Character is an (SSS)-Rank Esper
Chapter 77: What are you planning?
Seeing Zephyr’s figure, the lower-ranked Espers instinctively stepped aside, making way as he ran toward the battlefield, where the S-rank Espers were desperately holding back the S-rank monsters trying to escape.
Eleven’s expression darkened further.
To think Lucien had actually managed to guide Zephyr without fainting! That useless guy did indeed have some ability after all.
In the end, Eleven let out a cold snort and turned away, deliberately shifting his gaze elsewhere. Out of sight, out of mind.
As for Sylvia and Ryan, they exchanged a quiet glance before following after Zephyr.
The two Wales siblings, who had remained with the Guides for so long to avoid putting themselves in danger, were finally willing to step onto the battlefield. After all, for their plan to succeed, they had to do something.
Erick, who was in the middle of receiving guiding from a Guide, also caught sight of Zephyr’s running figure. He asked the Guide to stop, stood up, and rushed after him.
For a moment, every eye was on Zephyr.
However, Monica, who was standing among the lower-ranked Espers, quickly brought them back to their senses.
"Do not just stand here! Spread out and hunt down the lower-ranked monsters that escaped deeper into the city earlier!"
Her command jolted the Espers into action. They immediately dispersed, rushing into the surrounding streets to hunt down the monsters that had fled deeper into the city.
Suddenly, a loud, agonizing roar tore through the air, making Monica turn around.
She looked toward the battlefield and let out a shuddering sigh. In the distance, a massive mountain of rubble had crashed down on one of the five S-rank monsters engaged in battle with the S-rank Espers.
"To think he still has mana left..."
Her eyes fixed on Zephyr for a brief moment. Then, she left with the others.
Meanwhile, Zephyr leaped onto a floating chunk of concrete, using it as a foothold as it rose beneath him. His senses stretched across the whole battlefield, allowing him to perceive everything around him, from the movements of the five S-rank monsters to the ragged breathing of the S-rank Espers.
The moment they noticed Zephyr’s arrival, several of the S-rank Espers visibly relaxed.
"You are finally here! We were starting to wonder if you and Erick would ever return."
"Good, good... I was not sure how much longer I could keep this up. These beasts are too slippery and damn hard to kill!"
"If you still have mana left, use that dark skill you used earlier! It was incredible!"
Yet, not everyone shared their relief. A few of the S-rank Espers rolled their eyes, their expressions revealing clear dissatisfaction.
"What a show-off."
"Who is he, anyway? Why did he not help earlier, when so many people were dying?"
"He is clearly powerful enough to fight alongside us, yet he waited until now to appear. Was he waiting for others to die?"
Zephyr ignored them completely.
His focus was on the S-Rank monsters.
At this moment, Erick’s floating figure arrived beside him, asking softly.
"What are you planning?"
Zephyr swept a glance in his direction.
It was ironic.
The same Erick who had once left him behind was now asking about his plans.
Still, Zephyr answered.
"How to get closer to these monsters and use my skill. My reaction speed is not fast enough. They can easily send me flying."
Erick raised an eyebrow at his words.
Such confidence. It seemed Zephyr wanted to face all five S-Rank monsters alone. Yet after witnessing Zephyr’s formidable skills, Erick no longer doubted his ability to do so.
And from that moment on, Erick knew he would never doubt Zephyr again. It was a promise he had silently made to himself.
"You do not have to do this alone. We are all here to take down these monsters. I will draw their aggro. You do what you want."
With that, Erick cast a chilling glance at the other S-Rank Espers, silently ordering them to stop their nonsense and follow his lead.
Before Zephyr could say a word, they had already moved and launched their attacks, bombarding the monsters with a barrage of skills and drawing their attention away.
Zephyr’s brow furrowed slightly.
He could not help but wonder why they trusted him so much. Was it because he had displayed such powerful skills? Either way, it meant they were willing to let him fight without worrying that his blindness would put their side at a disadvantage.
Now, he did not need to prove himself.
He took a deep breath and narrowed his attention entirely on the five monsters.
Through his Psychokinesis skill, he could sense every movement they made, tracking the subtle fluctuations of mana around them. Five enormous presences. Five threats moving across the battlefield.
Then, Zephyr noticed something.
One of the monsters had separated from the others and stopped attacking to flee.
That was enough.
The chunk of concrete beneath his feet shot forward like a cannonball.
Zephyr’s figure vanished from his position, crossing the distance almost in an instant.
He stopped directly above the crab-like monster before jumping down fearlessly.
Before the monster could react, Zephyr’s figure had already landed on its big head.
The creature let out a furious shriek and violently twisted its body, trying to throw him off. Zephyr’s heart rate quickened, but his expression remained completely calm.
Using his Psychokinesis, he sensed the monster’s movements and body structure in an instant. Then, his hand shot forward, locking firmly around one of its horns.
The monster thrashed harder.
Its tail stabbed toward Zephyr’s direction again and again with terrifying force.
Yet Zephyr did not budge. He simply hid between its horns and tightened his grip.
"Got you."
The moment the words left his mouth, familiar pitch-black energy erupted from Zephyr’s hands. It spread across the monster’s body, swallowing it in darkness.
The creature let out an agonizing cry as it struggled violently, but its resistance lasted only a few seconds. Its large body began to dissolve before disappearing completely.
What was left were only little particles, which also slowly dissipated into the air.
The sight sent a fresh wave of terror through the remaining monsters and the S-Rank Espers who had finally witnessed Zephyr’s skill up close. How terrifying!
