The Broken Halo

Chapter 574: Beams Of Light

"I want every Shadow Blade, every Veilmaster, every Whisperer, every slave, and every dog of the clan to know his name."

Her smile widened.

"I want him to have no peace of mind. I want him to sleep with one eye open. I want him to run from city to city, from forbidden zones to death zones , from kingdom to kingdom."

She laughed softly.

It was unstable, broken, and mad.

"He thinks he escaped me? No. He only bought time."

Her remaining eye burned with hatred.

"When I recover, I’ll find him myself. I’ll tear out his eyes first. Then I’ll tear out that strange mind of his. Then I’ll make that bitch inside him watch as I-"

Sunless suddenly stopped.

True Night also froze.

A low rumble echoed from the ravine of the Shadowgrave Clan.

At first, it was faint.

Then it grew louder.

RUMBLE!

RUMBLE!

RUMBLE!

Sunless slowly turned her head toward the ravine.

True Night stood up instantly.

A second later, countless bright beams of light shot out from the ravine of the Shadowgrave Clan and pierced the sky.

One.

Ten.

Dozens.

The beams tore through the broken Shadow Veil and rose high into the clouds, illuminating the ruined Blackwind Valley and the distant lands beyond it.

For a moment, the entire world became silent.

Sunless’ expression changed.

True Night’s expression also changed drastically.

Those beams of light were too bright, too obvious, and too impossible to hide.

Any powerful demon within an enormous distance would see them.

Any clan, kingdom, tribe, city, or wandering expert nearby would know that something existed here.

The hidden location of the Shadowgrave Clan had just been exposed.

Sunless’ remaining eye widened.

Then her face twisted with disbelief, fury, and shock.

"No..."

The beams continued rising into the sky.

True Night clenched his only hand.

"Night Sovereign..."

Sunless stared at the sky, and for the first time since her battle with Simon began, her hatred for Simon reached the peak.

"BLACKMOOOOOOOON!!!!!!"

Simon could agree that he was reckless sometimes and that he could have made better decisions in some situations.

However, if there was one thing Simon always tried to accomplish... It was thinking ten steps ahead of his enemies.

When he decided to escape the Shadowgrave Clan, he thought of so many things that could happen and what he could do to increase his chances of escaping and survival.

Although he didn’t expect Sunless to be the Night Sovereign, and he didn’t expect things to turn out like this, but there was one thing he knew that he had to account for.

And that was the response of the Shadowgrave Clan if he was successful in escaping.

The Shadowgrave Clan was not a clan he could take lightly. It was a very dangerous clan, and if they made him a top priority on their hit list, he would be living a very uncomfortable and dangerous life.

So, he had to prevent that from happening.

And he started this plan from the moment he met Brama who was severely injured by Caesar.

Before teleporting Brama away, he gave Brama a few instructions.

The instructions were simple, Brama was to buy artifacts that could send out bright beams of light to the sky.

Any artifact that could do such a thing, Brama was to buy those artifacts and distribute them to other slaves.

After doing this, Brama was to observe the Shadow Veil, and he was to take note of two things.

The first is to see if the Shadow Veil had openings, flaws, or cracks in it.

And the second is to wait for the battle outside the clan to die down.

Once these two conditions were met, Brama and the other slaves were to activate these artifacts and run far away from the location of the beams of light.

Normally, the Shadow Veil would have prevented the beams of light from passing through them, but because it was weak and had cracks and holes in it, the light beams were able to pass through the veil.

The reason why Simon told Brama to do this was very obvious.

Instead of allowing the Shadowgrave Clan to place majority of their attention on him, they would have to focus more on the fact that their location was exposed.

The location of the Shadowgrave Clan was only known to very few influential and powerful demons.

If their location was exposed, they would have to deal with some clans, tribes, and even kingdoms that hated them to the core.

They had a lot of enemies, and without a doubt, many demons would want to wipe them out from the demon realm.

Now, the Shadowgrave Clan had to focus on themselves and not on Simon, giving Simon more time to heal, grow, and become more powerful.

Although, this would definitely lead to the death of some slaves, the slaves did not mind.

Many of them loved what was happening to the clan, and they didn’t mind dying because they were part of the reasons why the Shadowgrave Clan was in chaos.

Dying because a cruel and sadistic demon who was their master wanted to kill them for something that was utterly meaningless, was a terrible way to die.

They believed that dying for a cause... was much better than dying at the hands of their masters.

So, they welcomed it.

While every clan member and slave stared at the dozens of beams of light in the sky, Sunless’ expression was one to behold.

It was ugly and dark beyond comparison.

She could not recall the last time she had felt so furious.

It was completely suffocating.

True Night looked at her with a worried expression beneath his mask.

"What do we do now, Night Sovereign?"

Sunless’ only good eye flashed with countless thoughts, and after some seconds, she gritted her teeth and looked at the withered tree.

"I can’t do anything in this state, I’ll have to recuperate."

She then looked at the Grave Lord.

"Take control of everything and try to minimize the damages that bastard has done to us. Also, find the fools responsible for that. Punish them, and if you have to kill them, kill them."

"I’m quite certain it’s the slaves of Blackmoon that did that."

True Night bowed with one hand on his chest.

"I’ll do as you wish, Night Sovereign."

Sunless nodded slightly, then she looked back at the withered tree.

"Take me to there. I need to heal in that place."

True Night nodded, then pushed his hand slightly.

The shadow hand Sunless sat on moved toward the tree.

Sunless swiped a finger on one of her injuries, then she flicked the blood toward the tree.

The moment the blood touched the tree, a hole appeared in the trunk of the tree.

Sunless stepped off the shadow hand, then she walked into the hole and vanished.

The hole closed.

True Night exhaled softly, then he looked back at the beams of light with a cold light in his eyes.

A second later, he sank into his shadow and vanished.
