The Broken Halo

Chapter 596 - 595: Captain Little Kitty

"Do you want your balls crushed?"

Akaza did not shy away from Sonya’s cold gaze, and his gaze became cold after hearing her threatening words and tone.

He was already frustrated and angry after hearing that the Iron Fangs and the slaves were no longer poisoned, but he was still poisoned.

It left a bitter taste in his mouth.

"What made you think I’d be okay being the only one among us getting poisoned and controlled by him?"

Sonya’s eyes flashed with coldness, and her gaze became even more threatening.

"And why should I get poisoned? I was never his enemy at any point in time, and I’ve never done anything to make little kitty not to trust me, unlike you who swore that you were going to have your revenge."

"Tell me, does it make sense for me to get poisoned for no reason just because you’re poisoned and bitter?"

Akaza’s expression became dark and ugly, and he became tongue-tied for a moment.

He wanted to argue that since both of them were following Simon, then both of them must be treated the same way.

However, he also knew that Sonya was right.

He was poisoned for a reason, but if Simon poisoned Sonya because Akaza felt it was unfair, then it would be unfair to Sonya and it would also not make any sense at all.

Akaza’s mind struggled to come up with a reason, and when Sonya saw that he was silent, she folded her arms, scoffed, then looked away with obvious anger in her eyes.

Simon looked at Akaza and Sonya, and he could not help but recall his past life where he had been in a situations like this.

Situations where those around him would start arguing because of him.

He shook his head lightly, then he spoke.

"Akaza, just as Sonya said, I can’t poison her for no reason. She has not done anything wrong to me."

Akaza’s expression darkened, and Simon sighed when he saw this.

"And like I said, you’re not going to be poisoned forever. So, just be patient."

Akaza’s expression remained the same for a few seconds, then he exhaled deeply.

"Whatever."

He walked away from Simon and sat on the chair in the room.

Simon glanced at him with a strange glint in his eyes.

One thing Akaza did not consider was that, he could not poison Sonya because of their master... Ormon.

Ormon was most likely still alive, and Simon was certain that if Ormon heard that he poisoned Sonya, Ormon would be immensely displeased.

Ormon treasured and cared for Sonya deeply, and Simon would not be surprised if Ormon fought him because of such a thing.

With his current power level, Ormon would beat Simon ten times out of ten, and he could even be killed at the end of the day.

This was Simon’s main reason for not poisoning Sonya like Akaza wanted.

Fairness?

Morality?

Simon didn’t care about any of that.

If he could, he would actually poison Sonya because he trusted no one.

He would feel more assured and safe if he was in control of the lives of the people that wanted to follow him.

He had been stabbed in the back by his friends in his past life.

Stabbed in the back by his mother.

And stabbed in the back by Sunless.

Some might not have seen that as a betrayal because Lilith told him that he could not see Sunless’ heart, and because she was the Night Sovereign and she had been playing him all along.

However, at the end of the day, it was a betrayal.

Fortunately for Sunless, she had Ormon as her backer.

Just as Simon had all these thoughts, Sonya spoke.

"What of master, little kitty? Do you think he’ll be alright?"

Simon looked at Sonya.

He had expected her to ask about Ormon since he knew that she cared for the perveted master more than she showed it.

"He’ll be fine. I doubt the clan would hurt him."

Sonya raised a brow.

"You sound so certain. Why?"

Simon’s lips curled up slightly.

"After we left, I left them a gift. I have a feeling they’ll be extremely surprised and busy with the gift I left them."

Akaza and Sonya looked at each other with raised brows, then Sonya looked back at Simon with a slight furrow of her brows and asked.

"What do you mean by that?"

Simon’s smile remained.

"Well, let’s just say that I exposed the location of the Shadowgrave Clan, and the Shadowgrave Clan has a lot of enemies. They might have to start worrying about themselves very soon because of that."

Sonya’s eyes flashed with realization.

"And if they’re attacked, they wouldn’t want to punish, imprison, or kill Master because he’s a valuable asset to them."

Simon nodded very slightly.

"Exactly."

"And that also means we might be safe for some time. We won’t have to face the full wrath of the Shadowgrave Clan."

Simon looked at Akaza, then he nodded again.

"Yeah. It’s just as you said."

Sonya and Akaza could not help but look at Simon in surprise. They were also curious to know what exactly Simon had done to expose their location.

"Little kitty, you’re quiet smart." Sonya said while patting Simon’s head.

Simon gave her a dead stare, but Sonya did not stop parting his head with a smile.

"Not bad, little kitty. Not bad at all. This Honourable is proud of you."

This time around, Simon’s lips could not help but twitch at her words.

"Stop patting my head and start looking for information about this Vashar City and where we are."

Sonya shook her head and stopped putting Simon’s head.

"You’re no fun at all, little kitty."

Simon ignored her.

He looked at Akaza.

"The Shadowgrave Clan has already taught you guys how to get information from an unfamiliar city or territory."

"Use what you’ve learned to good use, and be careful out there."

"It’s also better to go out together, but do not, and I repeat, do not get into a fight or any argument of any sort. If you do, I don’t mind teaching you guys a lesson you’ll never forget?"

He shifted his gaze to Sonya who released a frustrated sigh.

"Aye aye captain little kitty."
