The Cheat Emperor of the Culinary World
Chapter 886 - 758: It’s Actually This Far
Zhang Jinyu is straightforward in character, but after spending a lot of time with Fu Yu, he’s picked up some subtle cues.
He noticed something was off with Fu Yu’s expression, hesitated for a moment, then asked, "Chef Fu, are you anxious about that delivery? Should I go pick it up for you?"
Fu Yu glanced at Zhang Jinyu and sighed heavily.
Though extremely dissatisfied, there’s no other choice, as the package has already been sent back to the dorm, and it wouldn’t be right to have Zhang Jinyu run back to retrieve it.
He could only wait until the afternoon break to take a look back at the dorm.
Fu Yu waved his hand, "No need, let’s get to work first."
The boiled field frog was almost done simmering.
Fu Yu instructed Zhang Jinyu to take out the field frog and place it on the bean sprouts, then pour in the broth.
Finally, he added dried chili pieces, Sichuan peppercorns, and chopped scallion, and sautéed them with hot oil for aroma.
A rich, spicy aroma drifted by, causing Zhao Meng nearby to turn his head impulsively.
"Wow, is that boiled field frog? No wonder it smells so good!"
Fu Yu cleared his throat softly, waiting for Zhao Meng to look his way, before discreetly pointing at a small bowl in the corner of the kitchen.
Zhao Meng raised his eyebrows, gesturing with his eyes: Is that for me?
Fu Yu nodded, mouthed the words: Stir-fried field frog.
Zhao Meng’s face lit up with a smile, feeling warmed inside, among all the people working with him, Fu Yu was the one who catered to his likings the most and constantly kept him in mind.
Fu Yu continued cooking.
The dry pot field frog is also a special dish of Qianlima, with the cooked frog being tender, spicy, and uniquely flavored.
Fu Yu chopped the onions into small pieces and placed them on the bottom of the dry pot.
He cut the field frog into small pieces, added salt and cooking wine for marination.
During this time, Fu Yu started a new pot to cook pickled pepper field frog.
He cut the frog into small pieces, added cooking wine and pepper powder, mixed well by hand, and marinated.
Both dishes were marinated, but the condiments varied, resulting in different flavors.
After marination, the dry pot field frog was drained and fried in an oil pot.
The oil needed to be hot; otherwise, the meat could easily fall apart.
Do not stir after putting it in the pot; flip it only after one side turns golden.
Once fried, the field frog was set aside for use.
Chilies, dried chili, and perilla were chopped into small pieces.
Leftover oil in the pan was used to sauté the scallions and dried chili aromatic.
Green and red chilies were poured in with the field frog, stir-fried together, adding cooking wine, soy sauce, and a bit of water, continued to stir.
Finally, perilla was added, stirred evenly, then transferred to the dry pot.
The dish’s hallmark is it’s served on a spirit stove, roasted while eating.
The spicy field frog entered with a tingling fragrance, rich in flavor.
The last dish of pickled pepper field frog remained; then, the field frog platter could be served.
Fu Yu swiftly extracted the marinated frog.
All the accompaniments were prepared and ready.
In the wok, cooking oil was added, followed by tiny peppers, pickled peppers, garlic, and julienned ginger, sautéed for fragrance, and then chili paste was added. Once red oil emerged, a suitable amount of water was added.
The broth was boiled over high heat, seasoning then commenced.
Firstly, soy sauce and pepper powder were added; depending on the broth’s saltiness, fine salt was added, followed by the marinated frog.
With medium-low heat, celery and chopped scallions were added.
Cook until the accompaniments were half-cooked, add natural flavor enhancer, stir-fry evenly.
Finally, after cooking briefly, it could be plated.
Apart from cooking four different flavors continuously, this dish’s plating was simple.
Platter plates for serving were custom-made by the shop, floral cross plates, simply plating four dishes, presented with particular elegance.
After finishing this grand dish, Fu Yu couldn’t help but breathe easy.
The remaining few dishes in this meal were cooked with significantly less pressure.
Hands were lighter, and Fu Yu couldn’t help but think of his delivery again.
He turned and instructed Zhang Jinyu, "Jin Yu, start the second fry for deep-fried pork. I need to go to the bathroom and will be right back."
Zhang Jinyu agreed, turned to begin working.
Fu Yu then briskly headed toward the dorm.
He had just stepped out of the kitchen when his phone suddenly rang.
Upon pulling it out, it was surprisingly yet another unfamiliar number.
Fu Yu answered the call, "Hello, who is this."
A strange male voice soon emerged from the phone, "Hello, you have a package that has arrived and been delivered to your store’s front desk. Please come pick it up when convenient."
Fu Yu was taken aback, another package delivered?
He hesitated slightly, changed direction, decided to first go to the front hall to fetch the delivery, then check what had arrived previously at the dorm.
Since turning permanent, Fu Yu’s status in the shop clearly elevated, whether it was the front hall servers or the kitchen workers, they would address him as Chef Fu when they saw him.
As Fu Yu approached the front desk, Jiang Mo hurriedly smiled and greeted, "Chef Fu, what brings you here?"
Liu Yuqing was also standing there smiling at Fu Yu.
Upon Lin Yuqing’s sight, Fu Yu immediately cracked a smile back.
"Picking up a package, I got a call saying it’s been delivered here."
Staff member packages were placed in a large box at the front desk; anyone who had time would fetch theirs.
Front desk personnel only helped with receiving them, didn’t sort them, so they weren’t sure whose packages had arrived.
Upon hearing Fu Yu had a package, Jiang Mo quickly went to help rummage through the box.
Liu Yuqing initially turned too, but ultimately couldn’t beat Jiang Mo to it.
Liu Yuqing turned to glance at Fu Yu, casting him a knowing look, leaving Fu Yu looking innocent.
Jiang Mo, this girl, had an exceptionally good nature, looks were decent too, especially toward Fu Yu had a very persistent admiration and affection.
Considered completely as an idol in her eyes.
Her enthusiasm level even made Liu Yuqing, his official girlfriend, sometimes sigh in defeat.
