Chapter 970: 970 - Studying The Nine Paths of Creation Reversal Art
After just a few hours of sleep, Mingzhu entered the world of the mind.
Lunchtime was approaching, and she could barely hide her excitement.
She would finally find out just how delicious Elize’s cooking really was. She had heard so much about it from Qingyi and his other wives that her mouth was already watering.
Qingyi, on the other hand, had secluded himself in his cultivation chamber.
The silence inside was almost absolute, broken only by the faint sound of his own breathing. The air was cool and still, untouched by anything from the outside world.
He waved his hand, retrieving an item from his spatial ring.
It was an ancient book, shrouded in a divine aura. The Nine Paths of Creation Reversal Art, the supreme cultivation art in all of existence.
Qingyi felt the book vibrate between his fingers as he gripped the cover, forcing it open. The pages resisted him for a moment, as if the book itself were testing whether he was worthy of reading it.
He calmly flipped through the pages until he reached the one where he had left off.
In a way, that cultivation art was no different from the others.
For a cultivator to comprehend it, three things were required.
The first was compatibility with the cultivation art.
Qingyi possessed the Primordial Creation Star, the Primordial Creation Seed, and the Flames of Life, along with the constitution of a primordial dragon.
In all of existence, it was likely that not even Celestial himself—the Great Creator’s first creation—had greater compatibility with that technique than he did.
Compatibility was the most important factor.
Tianjin himself, despite having a far superior cultivation level, could barely read a single paragraph of the Nine Paths of Creation Reversal Art before coughing up blood. Auranys, who had good compatibility, barely made it past two pages before being forced to stop.
Beyond compatibility, there was mental comprehension, which was also extremely high in Qingyi. And, of course, one’s own cultivation level mattered as well.
Cultivation arts were slow-developing by nature, designed to be cultivated and understood gradually, keeping pace with the cultivator’s growth.
If someone reached the limit of their technique, they would need to find their own path or seek out a new cultivation art.
Of course, the Nine Paths of Creation Reversal Art didn’t exactly have a defined limit, so Qingyi didn’t need to worry about that.
His eyes fell upon the lines that shone like molten gold on the white paper.
At first, the words were tangled, impossible to read. But as he focused, they slowly unraveled, taking shape before his eyes.
In silence, he read.
"From the void comes the beginning.
From the beginning comes creation.
All creation returns to its origin."
Those words, in and of themselves, had no meaning or value. What truly mattered was the intention within them.
In a cultivation technique, every word is imbued with the intent of its creator.
Because of this, simply being able to understand the words meant absolutely nothing.
There were many cultivation techniques transcribed and posted on social media throughout the Celestial Heaven, but they were of no value whatsoever.
They were just empty letters on a screen. Without the intention of a cultivator who fully understood an art, a technique was nothing more than random poetry and mantras.
That was exactly why copying techniques was so difficult.
"Everything that exists bears the mark of its creation.
Everything that was created retains the path of its return.
To find that path is to understand reversal.
Heaven does not grant the origin.
Earth does not determine the end.
Creation imposes no limits on the one who understands its principle."
Qingyi continued reading.
It felt as though he had been there for no more than a few minutes, just a few paragraphs. In truth, hours had passed.
Without realizing it, he had flipped through dozens of pages, his fingers turning the paper at an almost automatic pace.
His mind was racing faster than ever, though it felt a bit overloaded. A slight throbbing arose in his temples, a dull pressure building behind his eyes, but he ignored it.
The intention imbued in those words by the Great Creator himself flooded his body, mind, and soul.
"Reverse the flow, reveal the origin.
Reverse the origin, comprehend creation.
Comprehend creation, transcend the limits."
At that moment, for a brief second, Qingyi stopped moving. He closed the book, and then his eyes.
There were two types of realms.
Realms of transition and consolidation, and revolutionary realms.
The Qi Refinement Realm, for example, was a realm of transition and consolidation, since a cultivator at that level merely strengthened their base.
In the Foundation Establishment Realm, however—a revolutionary realm—a cultivator’s entire base changed.
The Star Sovereign Realm was also revolutionary. It marked the encounter with true immortality and the formation of a bond with a star.
The Cosmic Emperor Realm, on the other hand, was a transitional and consolidation realm. The gains made in the Star Sovereign Realm were merely consolidated and refined there.
Above it lay the False Divinity Realm, a revolutionary realm where the cultivator created a false divine vessel and prepared to advance to the Celestial Emperor Realm.
Naturally, the revolutionary realms were the greatest bottlenecks for cultivators. It was in these realms that most of them finally came face to face with the limits of their own talent.
That was why so many cultivators were stuck in the First Step of the Extinction Realm and the Cosmic Emperor Realm, unable to break through the bottleneck of a revolutionary realm.
For Qingyi, the Cosmic Emperor Realm was an insignificant bottleneck. Gaining a little more insight into his cultivation art was, in and of itself, enough to shatter it.
Qingyi completely calmed his mind, channeling all his Qi into his dantian. Heat began to concentrate in his abdomen, pulsing slowly, each pulse a little stronger than the last.
It was time to advance to the Cosmic Emperor Realm!
Honestly, it wasn’t the kind of breakthrough Qingyi had expected.
Before fighting the Heavenly Demon, what he really wanted was to get the Flames of Primordial Chaos back.
Currently, he could only use them without dying if he was by Rou’er’s side, which was a major problem.
Of course, he could simply put Rou’er in a backpack and take her into battle. She’d agree to that right away. He himself and all his other wives, however, certainly would not.
Qingyi laughed at the image of charging into battle with Rou’er strapped to his back, but he quickly pushed the thought aside, refocusing on his advancement.
He just needed to keep studying the Nine Paths of Creation Reversal Art.
Before long, he’d be able to keep his meridians stable even after converting the Flames of Life—which were currently preventing his body from collapsing—into Flames of Primordial Chaos.
***
[NT: One funny thing I didn’t even notice myself—and I’m sure most of you here didn’t either—is that, technically speaking, Qingyi is on life support.
Like, literally, his body is so destroyed that he’s only alive because the Flames of Life are keeping him alive.
If he lost the Flames of Life and didn’t have Rou’er nearby, he wouldn’t last more than a few minutes. He’s that close to dying, and yet he’s still that powerful.]
