The Cultivation Food Stall: Sold Out Every Night
Chapter 33: For a Pork Knuckle, I Can Forgive the Whole World
Chapter 33: Chapter 33: For a Pork Knuckle, I Can Forgive the Whole World
"Old Qin, I ate the most delicious food in the world today. Call me ’Senior Brother,’ and I might be gracious enough to let you have a taste."
Thinking of his old friend, Jiang Yunhe couldn’t wait to share.
"What a coincidence. I also found something amazing. If you call me ’Senior Brother,’ I can give you a bite too."
The reply from the other end was quick, its tone defiant and confrontational.
Jiang Yunhe elegantly wiped his fingers with a handkerchief. The exquisite flavor still lingered on his lips and teeth, an endlessly satisfying aftertaste. He didn’t believe a word of his old friend’s claim.
’There is absolutely no pork knuckle in this world more delicious than this.’
’His brother was probably just bragging because he was afraid of being one-upped.’
He and Old Qin had known each other since childhood. Although they had joined different Sects, they were disciples of the same generation.
The two Sects were on good terms, so the two of them remained in close contact.
As for the question of who should call whom "Senior Brother," they had been arguing about it for decades with no resolution.
After all, both were heaven’s chosen, so naturally, neither would yield to the other.
But this time, Jiang Yunhe believed he would finally come out on top.
"Old Qin, let the battle begin! Come at me if you dare."
This time, he was determined to use Boss Lu’s pork knuckle to make Old Qin bow his head in willing submission.
As it happened, Qin Zhan on the other end had the exact same idea. However, he didn’t accept the challenge directly. Instead, he poked around in the Bun Sect group.
"Has anyone found Boss Lu?"
Yesterday, some people, still unconvinced, went to stake out Yanliu Street. But after a whole night without seeing a shadow of Boss Lu, they finally believed that Boss Lu really had only set up a stall on Yanliu Street for seven days.
Last night, Yanliu Street was a scene of utter despair. The Flower Ladies couldn’t even muster the energy to suck men dry.
It was said that many men, at the critical moment, were kicked out the door by the Flower Ladies, nearly losing their manly dignity.
He had been searching all over Xiaohe Town since yesterday but hadn’t seen a sign of Boss Lu.
He didn’t dare go to Boss Lu’s residence, so he could only hope for some news from the Bun Sect.
"No luck."
Lou Xiaotian was just as deflated.
It had been almost two days since he’d seen Boss Lu, and he was terrified that Boss Lu had truly disappeared for good.
"Great Elder, do you have any news about Boss Lu?"
Qin Zhan could only resort to private messaging Uncle Li, but the other party’s cold reply left Qin Zhan deeply disappointed.
"Old Qin, answer me! Did you chicken out?"
Seeing his frenemy’s increasingly arrogant attitude, Qin Zhan ground his teeth hard.
"Whoever chickens out is a dog! Just you wait!"
’Once I find Boss Lu, I’ll make that stinking brat surnamed Jiang kowtow and call me Senior Brother.’
But as Qin Zhan’s old friend, Jiang Yunhe could read the insecurity in his reply. He let out a few bursts of mocking laughter, causing Lu Wu to glance over at him again.
Lu Wu had already come to calmly accept the fact that her customers were all a little unhinged.
"Boss Lu, are you coming back tomorrow?"
As Lu Wu was packing up, Zhang Xiu sidled over and asked.
"I will. Same as before, I’ll set up my stall here for seven days."
Lu Wu nodded, noticing Zhang Xiu’s sly expression. He looked like he was scheming something.
"Hehe, see you tomorrow then, Boss Lu."
Zhang Xiu rubbed his chin, then grabbed his two younger brothers and walked over to the other customers from earlier.
A group of people gathered together. It was unclear what Zhang Xiu said, but the other diners first looked confused, then nodded in unison as if waking from a long dream.
’This group must have reached some kind of shady, under-the-table deal.’
Lu Wu rubbed her hands together and patted Dahuang’s head.
"Want to come home with me?"
She had saved this dog’s life, after all. Lu Wu was prepared to take Dahuang back with her.
From now on, she would be a person with a dog.
"WOOF!"
Dahuang happily nuzzled Lu Wu’s calf, his tail wagging joyfully to express his delight.
Then, he backed away a few steps and headed off again in the direction of the Valley of Ten Thousand Poisons.
He, Gou Aotian, was a dog with ambition.
’Since I’ve acknowledged Boss Lu as my master, I have to learn how to support the family.’
’For tomorrow’s pork knuckle, I have to go earn some capital!’
"WOOF WOOF!"
’Pork knuckle, wait for me! I will be back!’
Watching Dahuang’s flying figure, Lu Wu opened her mouth but couldn’t call out in time to stop him.
Lu Wu understood and gave her spiritual support to Dahuang’s ambition. Seeing that Zhang Xiu was still "brainwashing" the other diners, Lu Wu dusted off her pants and slipped away.
After Lu Wu left, Zhang Xiu emphasized again.
"You all remember this. Under no circumstances can you spread the news that Boss Lu is setting up her stall here. Otherwise, a pack of Taotie will come and fight us for the food."
The memory of waiting in line for half a day on Yanliu Street only to be able to buy two buns brought tears to Zhang Xiu’s eyes.
He had just specifically checked One World Communication; there was no new information about Boss Lu for now.
Even the many members of the Bun Sect hadn’t found a trace of Boss Lu.
It was very likely he was the first among the old regulars to run into Boss Lu, so he was going to monopolize her for seven days.
Just the thought of being able to eat to his heart’s content for the next few days made Zhang Xiu feel like his life had reached its peak.
To avoid a repeat of the food-snatching war on Yanliu Street, he had made a pact with these new customers outside the Valley of Ten Thousand Poisons.
"Boss Lu, don’t blame me. If you have to blame something, blame this pork knuckle for being too delicious."
As a die-hard carnivore, he had eaten his fill today.
Business was better than expected, which gave Lu Wu a huge boost of confidence.
Exhausted from half a day’s work, Lu Wu didn’t wander around after getting home. Instead, she lay at home, picking at her feet.
In Little Fatty’s home, Wang Er, who had been delayed by some business, was just getting home for lunch.
The moment Wang Er walked through the door, he smelled a meaty aroma unlike any he had smelled before.
"Smells amazing! Honey, your cooking has really improved."
He called out as he strode nonchalantly through the door, only to see his wife pinning down their son, her eyes glowing with a green light as she stared at a bowl on the table.
In that bowl was a large pork knuckle, still steaming.
Wang Er couldn’t look away.
The closer he got, the clearer it became. The fragrance of the pork knuckle was making him dizzy. His wife’s skills had really improved by leaps and bounds.
When Aunt Wang saw her husband return, her expression was full of resentment.
"You’re finally back."
Her hoarse voice sounded as if she had just been through a great battle.
In truth, Aunt Wang had been enduring this for a long time.
From the moment her son brought this pork knuckle home, Aunt Wang had eyes for nothing else.
You could tell from the two slightly burnt vegetable dishes on the side that her heart had long been captured by the pork knuckle.
Initially, Aunt Wang had been furious about her son encouraging a little girl to climb a wall. She had almost given Little Fatty a good "bamboo shoot and pork" beating.
But Little Fatty was clever and offered up his prize.
Aunt Wang, who prided herself on her cooking skills, took one bite of the succulent, juicy pork and immediately forgave Little Fatty.
A delicacy of this caliber made the braised pork in her own pot seem utterly tasteless. For this, she could forgive the entire world.
If not for their decades of marriage, she would have long since carved up this pork knuckle with her son. Why would she endure this constant temptation while waiting for him to come home?
By now, Wang Er’s relatively handsome face had started to look detestable in Aunt Wang’s eyes.
