Chapter 790 - 786: Dealing with the Wild Boar

"Get the rope around its head."

Leng Yuan said in a deep voice.

Chen JianShe and Chen Jie immediately slipped the rope over the wild boar’s head. They then quickly switched places, knotting the rope as they moved.

The thick rope cinched tight around the wild boar’s neck.

The man who had just escaped with his life was stunned to see the wild boar tied up so easily.

"Pull."

At Leng Yuan’s final command, the three men beside him gripped the rope tightly and hauled backward.

Before the wild boar could even react, it found it couldn’t breathe. It thrashed its four legs, but to no avail. As the rope grew tighter, the boar’s struggles gradually weakened.

Finally, its stout body collapsed to the ground.

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

The man who had been chased by the boar finally snapped out of it when he saw it collapse. Remembering how it had chased him so hard his pants had nearly fallen off, he couldn’t resist stepping forward to give it a kick.

Seeing this, Leng Yuan quickly shouted, "Don’t go near it! The boar’s not dead yet."

He hadn’t even finished speaking when the boar suddenly surged up and charged right at the man.

The man froze in terror, but Leng Yuan, with his quick reflexes, yanked him aside.

The boar, however, had put all its strength into that one final charge. It wasn’t looking where it was going and slammed straight into a large tree. The impact left a huge dent in the trunk, and the boar’s skull cracked open.

They all watched this unfold, thinking the boar was truly savage.

Turning to the terrified man, Chen JianShe couldn’t help but say, "You’ve got some nerve. The boar wasn’t even dead yet and you just walked right up to it. If Brother Leng hadn’t pulled you away, you’d be meeting King Yan by now."

’It left a dent in a tree. A guy made of flesh and blood like him would have had his guts splattered everywhere.’

It took the man a long moment to recover. He never imagined the boar would play dead. That had scared the life out of him.

With that thought, the man burst out crying with a loud "WAAAH!"

"I’m so unlucky! Why does every bad thing happen to me? I just came up the mountain to hang myself, and I run into a giant wild boar! I didn’t manage to hang myself, and I nearly got gored to death instead!"

It was shocking enough to see a grown man cry.

But when Chen JianShe heard him say he’d been trying to hang himself, he was left completely speechless.

"What happened to you that made you want to hang yourself? Let me tell you, it’s better to struggle through life than to just give up. There’s nothing you can’t get through."

Because this guy had led a wild boar right to them, Chen JianShe found himself playing the part of a sympathetic confidant.

Snot and tears streaming down his face, the man sobbed, "You don’t know the first thing about my suffering!"

Chen JianShe patted his shoulder. "Brother, what’s your name? What village are you from?"

"I’m Li Dazhuang, from the next village over, Li Family Village."

The hand Chen JianShe had on his shoulder froze, and his expression turned grim. "You’re Li Dazhuang?"

Li Dazhuang nodded and, lowering his head, went back to crying. Chen JianShe, however, wore a complicated expression.

The others saw his expression and knew he must have known something. They immediately pulled Chen JianShe aside and started whispering.

"So what’s the story? Spill it, brother!"

The man asking was quite the gossip.

Chen JianShe sighed. "My second aunt just went back to her family’s village yesterday, that’s how I heard about this. Her family lives right across from Li Dazhuang’s. His father died young, so his mother struggled to raise him all by herself. He’s an only child, no siblings."

"He finally managed to get married about six months ago, but it seems his wife ran off because they couldn’t have a child."

"My aunt said the wife couldn’t get pregnant, but apparently, the problem was with the husband. So, she ran off with another man."

Leng Yuan, who had no interest in gossip, suddenly spoke up. "Men can’t get pregnant. Why would she run away?"
