The Delicate Darling with Her Rough Man
Chapter 797 - 793: Medicine for a Cold Constitution
"Go on, Host, go on!"
The system couldn’t wait any longer. Xu Wenwan’s entire world was filled with those two words: ’Go on’.
If Xu Wenwan hadn’t retained a sliver of sense, she would have charged right in. Fortunately, she managed to restrain herself.
"Don’t be so anxious! This is a pharmacy, and it’s full of people. If a married woman like me rushes up and starts grabbing some guy, are you trying to get me arrested?"
The system was both anxious and furious. It couldn’t care less if Xu Wenwan got arrested; all it cared about was the luck emanating from Leng Yuan.
But it couldn’t tell her the truth, so it could only fret uselessly. ’What is wrong with this world?’ it wondered. ’Why are there so many rules?’
When it left the last world, a group of strangers who had met online went to a bar, and they were sitting in each other’s laps right away. Nothing bad happened to them!
But here? Just holding hands was considered a scandal.
Ultimately, it was all the Main God’s fault. If only the Main God had designed it to absorb luck from a distance, it wouldn’t have so many problems.
Since Xu Wenwan couldn’t just rush in, she had no choice but to wait for Leng Yuan to come out.
Leng Yuan was quick. With prescription in hand, he had his herbs filled and walked out. The moment Xu Wenwan saw him leave, she glanced at the pharmacy’s sign and hurried after him.
Leng Yuan had only taken a few steps before he realized someone was following him. He glanced back casually, catching sight of Xu Wenwan’s flustered figure in his periphery.
His expression unchanging, Leng Yuan turned and entered the state-run restaurant. Just as he walked in, he happened to cross paths with An Dongyang, who was getting up to grab something.
Leng Yuan walked straight into him, bumping An Dongyang hard enough to make him spin around.
And it was because he spun around that he saw Xu Wenwan trailing behind them.
He frowned, not even hearing Leng Yuan’s brief apology. By the time he snapped out of it, Leng Yuan was already gone.
An Dongyang walked outside and went straight up to Xu Wenwan, demanding, "What are you doing here?"
Xu Wenwan hadn’t expected to see An Dongyang here either. She quickly came up with an excuse. "I’m meeting a friend. We were supposed to meet at the entrance to the state-run restaurant, but she hasn’t arrived yet."
An Dongyang gave Xu Wenwan a skeptical look, then scanned the area. Seeing no one suspicious, his expression remained dubious. "You said you’re meeting a friend? Where is she? What’s her name?"
Xu Wenwan had just made it up on the spot; she wasn’t actually meeting anyone. She had no answer for An Dongyang’s questions.
The system, however, was getting frantic.
In that short span of time, it had somehow lost track of Leng Yuan’s presence. The system began frantically urging Xu Wenwan in her mind.
"Host, hurry inside! Go in and look!"
An Dongyang pressed on. "Well? Who are you meeting? Why can’t you tell me? Don’t tell me you’re meeting some other man!"
An Dongyang’s gaze grew even more suspicious as he stared at Xu Wenwan, and his expression turned hostile.
He’d heard rumors before about Xu Wenwan being involved with other men. At the time, his first reaction had been disbelief, but his second had been suspicion.
After all, their own relationship had started as an affair. Xu Wenwan hadn’t even been divorced yet when they got together.
Now, he couldn’t help but wonder if she really was seeing another man. What if she just had a thing for that kind of thrill?
Meanwhile, the system was still nagging her incessantly.
"Get inside! Go in and see!"
Xu Wenwan was speechless.
"Enough! What’s with all the questions? What is there to even ask? An Dongyang, what are you implying? Are you accusing me? Don’t you forget, when I got together with you, I was still a virgin!"
Xu Wenwan’s questions seemed aggressive, but her tone was laced with a sense of being wronged. An ordinary person, faced with such a response, would have felt at least a twinge of pity.
But An Dongyang was no ordinary person.
