The Devil Who Claimed Me
Chapter 201: Just Love.
The wedding ceremony took place in the late afternoon, just before sunset. The entire banquet hall had been transformed into a breathtaking garden of flowers and soft lights.
A long aisle stretched toward a massive floral arch covered in white roses, blush peonies, and orchids. White candles in glass holders lined both sides of the aisle.
The chairs were decorated with small bouquets of white roses and pink peonies.
At the end of the aisle stood Dominic. He looked sharp and handsome in his perfectly tailored black tuxedo.
His eyes remained fixed on the entrance, waiting impatiently for his bride. A ruthless man everyone feared looked nervous.
Lucas came in closer and whispered in his ear, "Take it easy, Dominic. Breathe. You look like you are holding your breath."
Dominic slowly turned his head and glared at him. "Do you want to be kicked out?"
Lucas shrugged. "I’m your groomsman. You can’t kick me out today."
"I can if you don’t stop talking."
Lucas chuckled. "Relax. I’m just trying to make you feel better before the bride arrives. Otherwise, you might have a heart attack when Mila walks down the aisle."
The corner of Dominic’s lips lifted. It wasn’t exactly a smile.
"We haven’t been on the training ground together in a long time," he said calmly. "How about we have a friendly fight after the wedding?"
’Friendly fight?’ Lucas swallowed.
He could never dare to duel Dominic. He wasn’t suicidal.
A nervous smile appeared on his face. "What are you talking about? A fight on your wedding day? Aren’t you afraid of angering Mila?"
The moment Dominic heard Mila’s name, his expression changed. Of course, he couldn’t abandon Mila on their wedding night. But that didn’t mean he would let Lucas tease him without consequences.
"Think about yourself," he muttered.
Before Lucas could reply, the music changed. He glanced toward the entrance.
"The bride is here." A huge grin spread across his face as he stepped forward, completely forgetting about Dominic.
Dominic turned around. The moment his eyes landed on Mila, his breath caught.
She was breathtaking.
She wore an ivory silk gown with delicate lace detailing. The fitted bodice accentuated her elegant figure before flowing into a graceful skirt that swept softly across the floor.
A long veil trailed behind her. Tiny crystals scattered across the fabric shimmered like diamonds whenever she moved.
Dominic simply stared. He had seen Mila in countless ways as his doctor, his wife - the woman who argues with him, laughs with him, and sleeps beside him.
But seeing her walk toward him as his bride left him speechless. His eyes became slightly moist.
He whispered under his breath, "She is beautiful."
Mila reached him, her eyes meeting his.
Dominic took her hand. His fingers tightened around hers.
"You look beautiful," he whispered.
Mila smiled through her tears. "And you look nervous."
He gave her a faint smile. "I’ve faced men pointing guns at me without blinking. But standing here with you scares me more."
She laughed softly. "Why?"
"Because this is the most important thing I’ve ever done."
The ceremony proceeded.
When it was time for their vows, Dominic grew emotional.
"I didn’t give you the wedding you deserved the first time. I thought being your husband was enough. I thought protecting you and giving you everything you needed was enough."
He paused. "But you deserve more than that."
His thumb brushed over her fingers. "You deserve to hear me say, in front of everyone, that I choose you."
Mila grinned, her chest filling with joy and emotion.
"Today, tomorrow, and every day after this..." His voice softened. "I choose you. I’ll protect you, cherish you, and love you for the rest of my life."
Mila could barely hold back her tears. But she smiled through them.
"I never needed a grand wedding, Dominic. I only needed you. But thank you for giving me this."
She squeezed his hand. "For making me feel loved every single day. I choose you too."
Valentina approached with the rings. She smiled at them. "Time for the rings," she said with a wide grin.
Dominic took Mila’s hand. He slipped the diamond ring onto her finger.
Then Mila took his ring and slid it onto his finger.
Their eyes met. They smiled and kept looking at each other, their fingers interlacing. It was as though they couldn’t look away from each other.
The officiant finally smiled and announced, "You may kiss your bride."
Dominic didn’t hesitate. He pulled Mila into his arms and kissed her.
The guests erupted into applause.
Mila laughed against his lips before wrapping her arms around his neck.
When they finally separated, Dominic rested his forehead against hers.
"Finally," he whispered. "I get to marry you properly."
Mila smiles. "You are already married to me."
"Not like this. Now everyone knows you are mine."
Mila raised an eyebrow. "I was already yours."
"You can only be mine." He kissed her again, this time possessively.
"Ahem..." Lucas cleared his throat. "The room is ready," he whispered into Dominic’s ear. "You can take her there. I’ll take care of the guests."
Mila immediately stepped back, her face turning bright red. She couldn’t even lift her head.
Dominic turned his head toward Lucas, his gaze burning.
Lucas looked aside. "I only wanted to help you."
Dominic opened his mouth to respond, but before he could say anything, Emily rushed over with panic written across her face.
Cassian was crying loudly in her arms.
Everyone turned toward them.
Mila immediately hurried over.
"What happened? Why is he crying like this?"
Her heart sank when she saw his little face red from crying.
"He woke up and started crying," Emily explained. "I tried to calm him down, but he wouldn’t stop. Maybe he wants his mother."
Mila’s expression softened instantly. She took Cassian into her arms.
The baby stopped crying almost immediately.
Relief spread across Emily’s face. "I guessed right. He missed his mother."
Dominic folded his arms. "Little brat. Today is his parents’ wedding day, and he still won’t stop disturbing us. He always wants his mother’s attention."
Mila shot him a sharp look. "He is just a baby. Of course, he needs me more than you do."
She turned to leave with Cassian.
Dominic caught her arm. "But the reception..."
Mila looked back at him. "You handle the guests. Cassian needs me."
With that, she walked away.
Dominic let out a long sigh as he helplessly watched his wife leave with their son.
Lucas leaned closer. "You must be frustrated. She cares more about Cassian."
Dominic’s expression darkened. "The reception is about to start. Go and handle the guests."
"Alright, boss."
Lucas flashed him a teasing smile before walking away.
Dominic shook his head. "Even on my wedding day, everyone seems determined to annoy me."
But when he looked toward Mila and Cassian, his expression softened. They were his family, his entire world.
’I’ll do anything for them.’
Later that evening...
It was already dark when Dominic finally returned home.
He entered their room and immediately found Mila standing beside the window, still wearing her wedding gown.
Moonlight streamed through the glass, falling softly across her figure.
Dominic walked toward her from behind. He wrapped his arms around her waist and rested his chin on her shoulder. He smelled like booze.
"Did you miss me?" he asked quietly.
Mila smiled. But when she spoke, she sounded like she was upset. "You are drunk."
"No... I am not... But my friends urged me to drink. I couldn’t deny them. I took a few pegs."
"A few?" She turned toward him, raising an eyebrow.
Before Mila could ask anything, he handed her a velvet box. "I have something for you."
Caught off guard, Mila asked, "What is it?"
"Open it."
Mila opened it curiously. Inside lay a dazzling diamond necklace.
Her eyes gleamed. "It’s beautiful."
"Do you like it?"
"Yes..." She touched the necklace gently. "But it looks expensive."
"For you, it’s nothing." He took out the necklace and carefully fastened it around her neck.
Mila ran her fingers over the diamonds before looking at him.
Her vision blurred with unshed tears. "Thank you."
"It’s me who should thank you. You changed my life, changed me..."
Dominic took Mila’s hands in his, his fingers tightening gently around hers. For a moment, he simply looked at her.
"There was a time when I thought my life would end in blood, revenge, and endless battles. I thought a man like me was destined to walk alone."
His gaze never left her face. "But then I met you."
A faint smile touched his lips.
"You walked into my life like light breaking through a storm. You gave me a home when I only knew battlefields. You gave me peace when my heart only knew hatred."
Dominic lifted her hand and pressed a gentle kiss to her fingers.
"I was never afraid of death. But meeting you taught me something else. It taught me that living for someone is far more important than dying for them."
A tear slipped down Mila’s cheek.
Dominic raised his hand and wiped it away tenderly.
"So today, I want to make you a promise. I promise that no matter how difficult life becomes, I will never let you face it alone."
His voice became deeper, steadier.
"I promise to stand beside you—not only in happiness, but in pain, failure, sickness, and every storm that comes our way. I promise to listen to you... even when you give me orders."
A soft laugh escaped her.
"I promise to grow old with you. When your hair turns silver, I will still look at you the same way I do today. No matter how many years pass, I will never stop falling in love with you."
He looked at her as though she were the only person in the world.
"You have my heart, Mila. You have my loyalty, my life."
Dominic’s eyes became warm. "And if there is another life after this one, I will find you again. I will fall in love with you again. I will choose you over and over in every lifetime."
Mila covered her mouth. "Dominic..."
He smiled, his own eyes glistening. "I love you."
"I only need you to keep holding my hand... exactly like this," she whispered. "And no matter where life takes us, I will walk beside you. Always... I love you too."
Dominic leaned down and gently claimed her lips, sealing every promise with a kiss.
The life they had fought so hard to build was finally theirs.
No enemies. No revenge. No battles.
Just love.
The end...
