The Devil’s Reign:The first law of void
Chapter 83:The Spear That Challenged The Dragon
Broken hills...
Scorched forests...
Thousands of warriors stood in perfect formation, waiting for the order that would ignite another chapter of Murim's endless war.
The banners of the Murim Alliance fluttered proudly against the wind.
Across from them, the black banners of the Demonic Cult rose like a tide of darkness.
Between the two armies...
Silence.
A silence so heavy that even the wind seemed afraid to move.
No one dared breathe too loudly.
Because everyone knew...
Today...
One of the greatest monsters of the Demonic Cult had personally come to the battlefield.
Then—
BOOM!
A spear descended from the heavens like a falling meteor.
The impact blasted apart the earth.
Dust exploded hundreds of meters into the air.
When the smoke cleared...
A gigantic black spear stood embedded in the battlefield.
Beside it...
A towering man stepped forward.
Broad shoulders.
Scarred body.
Long black hair dancing behind him.
His crimson eyes swept across the Murim Alliance like a predator searching for prey.
The warriors unconsciously stepped back.
Some couldn't even stop their legs from trembling.
Someone whispered...
"...The Spear Demon..."
The name alone sent chills through countless hearts.
One of the Four Great Evils.
The man whose spear had ended countless sects.
The man said to have fought the Great Elder Dragon for decades without either side claiming victory.
He slowly pulled the massive spear from the ground.
The metallic sound echoed across the battlefield.
Spear Demon
"So..."
"Where is that old dragon hiding?"
His deep voice rolled across the plain like thunder.
No one answered.
Then...
A calm laugh echoed from the Murim Alliance.
"Hahaha..."
"So impatient as ever."
The clouds above suddenly parted.
Golden light descended from the sky.
A figure slowly walked through the light as though he were descending from heaven itself.
Every Murim Alliance disciple immediately knelt.
"Great Elder Dragon!"
"The Great Elder has arrived!"
"The Dragon Elder!"
Respect filled every voice.
Unlike the overwhelming brutality of the Spear Demon...
The Great Elder Dragon possessed an entirely different pressure.
Calm.
Majestic.
Absolute.
His white robes fluttered gently.
His silver hair reached his waist.
His eyes carried countless years of wisdom.
A simple wooden sword rested in his hand.
Yet no one underestimated that ordinary-looking weapon.
Because everyone knew...
That sword had slain countless demons.
The old man smiled.
"It has been a long time."
Spear Demon rested his spear on his shoulder.
"Too long."
Dragon Elder looked around the battlefield.
"You've brought quite an army."
Spear Demon smirked.
"You think I came for sightseeing?"
Dragon Elder chuckled.
"I thought perhaps old age had finally made you sentimental."
The Demonic soldiers burst into laughter.
The Murim Alliance warriors remained expressionless.
The Spear Demon sighed dramatically.
"You still talk too much."
"And you still haven't learned how to smile properly."
Dragon Elder replied calmly.
"You still haven't learned patience."
Spear Demon pointed his spear directly at him.
"And you've still never beaten me."
The old man's smile finally disappeared.
Neither had the other.
For nearly forty years...
Their battles had shaken mountains.
Neither had ever claimed victory.
Neither had ever accepted defeat.
They were rivals.
Equals.
Natural enemies.
Dragon Elder slowly raised his wooden sword.
"You've grown stronger."
Spear Demon laughed.
"I was hoping you'd notice."
The air became heavier.
Birds fled the forest.
Animals buried themselves underground.
Even both armies instinctively retreated several hundred meters.
Veteran masters shouted.
"Retreat!"
"Everyone retreat!"
"If you're caught between them, you'll die!"
Within moments...
The center of the battlefield became completely empty.
Only two figures remained.
Dragon...
and Spear.
The Spear Demon twirled his weapon once.
The movement alone generated a violent cyclone that uprooted dozens of ancient trees.
Dragon Elder simply stood still.
Yet the wind split around him.
Not even the edge of his robe moved.
Spear Demon grinned.
"I hate that trick."
Dragon Elder smiled.
"I know."
Without warning—
The Spear Demon disappeared.
BOOM!!
The ground where he had stood exploded.
A sonic boom followed several moments later.
He appeared directly above Dragon Elder.
His spear descended like a falling mountain.
"Mountain-Shattering Descent!"
The heavens seemed to collapse.
Dragon Elder calmly lifted his wooden sword.
One simple motion.
CLANG!!
The collision created a shockwave that flattened forests in every direction.
Mountains cracked.
The earth split open.
Both armies were forced backward.
Even the strongest experts struggled to remain standing.
The Spear Demon laughed wildly.
"YES!"
"THIS IS WHAT I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR!"
He unleashed another thrust.
Then another.
Then another.
Each strike became faster than the last.
The battlefield transformed into countless black streaks.
Dragon Elder's sword danced gracefully.
Every thrust was redirected with the smallest movement possible.
No wasted strength.
No unnecessary motion.
Pure perfection.
Watching from afar, countless martial artists couldn't even follow their movements.
All they heard were explosions.
One after another.
The sky itself seemed to burst apart.
The Spear Demon suddenly spun.
His spear became a gigantic tornado.
"World-Piercing Rotation!"
The spiral devoured everything in its path.
Trees...
Boulders...
Even pieces of mountains vanished into the storm.
Dragon Elder narrowed his eyes.
He finally moved.
His wooden sword traced a gentle circle.
"Dragon Current."
An invisible force emerged.
The violent tornado instantly lost balance.
Instead of crashing into him...
It curved harmlessly toward the sky.
The enormous spiral split the clouds for dozens of kilometers.
Sunlight poured onto the battlefield.
The Spear Demon clicked his tongue.
"You always ruin my fun."
Dragon Elder smiled.
"You rely too much on brute force."
"And you rely too much on tricks."
Without another word...
Both disappeared again.
The battlefield erupted.
Spear met sword hundreds of times every second.
Every collision sounded like thunder.
Every exchange carved new valleys into the earth.
The nearby river changed direction after one stray shockwave.
Mountains collapsed.
Cliffs shattered.
The spectators watched with pale faces.
A Murim disciple whispered,
"...Are they even human?"
A Demonic elder answered quietly,
"They stopped being human long ago."
The Spear Demon suddenly planted his foot.
His aura exploded upward.
The sky darkened.
Black clouds gathered.
Crimson lightning danced around his body.
He lifted his spear with both hands.
"Enough warm-up."
Dragon Elder's expression grew serious.
"So you've finally decided to use it."
The Spear Demon smiled.
"I'd feel insulted if I didn't."
The gigantic spear began absorbing heaven and earth's spiritual energy.
The surrounding air distorted.
Space trembled.
Even the clouds were pulled toward its tip.
Dragon Elder slowly closed his eyes.
Golden qi flowed around him.
His wooden sword emitted a soft dragon's roar.
An enormous azure dragon silhouette appeared behind him.
Its eyes opened.
The heavens shook.
The Spear Demon laughed louder than ever.
"YES!"
"THIS IS THE DRAGON I WANTED!"
Dragon Elder opened his eyes.
"And this..."
"...is the spear worthy of challenging it."
For the first time...
Neither man smiled.
The battlefield fell completely silent.
Every expert understood.
The next exchange...
would decide nothing—
and everything.
The Spear Demon lunged.
Dragon Elder stepped forward.
Black spear.
Azure dragon.
Two legends...
rushed toward each other.
The world exploded in blinding light.
And before anyone could see which legend had gained the upper hand...
The battlefield vanished beneath a wall of smoke, shattered earth, and roaring qi.
The outcome remained hidden.
Their duel...
had only just begun.
