The Don's Deadliest Obsession

Chapter 154: Drop the gun!.

  • Next Chapter

I follow the sound of voices leading towards a room.

My shoes clicking against the polished floor as I approach the doorway. I can hear them clearly now, although I can’t make out every word. One voice belongs to Lysander. The other is unmistakably hers.

The fucking bimbo.

I stop just outside the room, looking through the open doorway.

Lysander is sitting across from her, a glass on the table between them. The blonde looks distressed, her face flushed and her eyes suspiciously shiny.

Well, isn’t this a lovely reunion?

I step into the room.

Lysander turns immediately, surprise flashing across his face.

"Nerissa?"

I ignore him and look at the blonde.

"Am I interrupting something? Or should I come back when you’re done entertaining your guests?"

Lysander immediately gets to his feet.

"What the hell are you doing here?"

I let out a humourless laugh.

"That’s a lovely question coming from a man who apparently can’t keep his stupid dick in his pants."

His brows draw together.

"What are you talking about?"

"What the fuck are you doing here in a room with the very woman you’ve disrespected me with? What the hell is wrong with you?."

"Fuck."

He drags a hand through his hair, tugging at it as though he’s trying to keep himself from losing his temper.

"Sweetheart, listen to me."

"No. You listen to me."

The blonde suddenly gets to her feet.

"You’re stopping us from being together! Just go away. He was mine, you stupid bitch!"

My head snaps towards her. Before I can think twice, I raise my gun and point it directly at her.

She takes a few hurried steps backwards, her mouth falling open.

"When I’m talking to my husband, you shut the fuck up until I address you."

Her lips part, but no words come out.

Good.

I turn back to Lysander, shifting the gun towards him. He raises both hands in a surrendering gesture.

"Okay. Sweetheart, let’s drop the gun and just talk. I promise it’s not what you think it is."

"Don’t you dare placate me. I’m not a child!"

His eyes move briefly to the weapon in my hand.

"Who gave you a gun?"

I scoff.

"That’s what’s important right now, isn’t it? Not what you’re doing here with this bitch?"

I motion towards the blonde with my head.

Lysander exhales.

"Nerissa, I can explain."

"Then fucking explain!"

I am practically trembling with anger.

I really don’t want to involve the blondie in this. After all, she didn’t promise me loyalty. She didn’t stand before our families and commit herself to me. Lysander did.

If anyone is solely at fault here, it’s my husband.

He’s the one who married me. He’s the one who made promises, even if he has a funny way of keeping them.

But this woman keeps provoking me, practically begging me to put a bullet through her head.

She knew I was in the picture, she knew he was married. The least she could have done was respect that....respect me.

Girl’s girl, my ass.

Instead, she keeps dragging him into whatever little fantasy she has about the two of them.

And here I am, standing in a room with both of them, wondering why the hell I ever thought this marriage could work.

"You haven’t answered me, Lysander."

I take a step forward, keeping my gun trained on him.

"You have exactly ten seconds before I put a bullet through your head and this bitch’s too. I’ll frame her for your death and say she killed herself afterwards. They’ll believe me, and I’ll walk away a free woman."

His jaw tightens.

"So don’t fucking test me!"

"Nerissa..."

He takes a step towards me.

"Don’t even....."

I immediately wave the gun.

"Stay the fuck back."

He stops and for a moment, he simply looks at me, his hands still raised. There’s something in his expression I can’t quite read, but I’m too furious to care.

"Look, Nerissa, you’ve clearly misunderstood the situation. This woman threatened you and Isabella at the hospital. I brought her here because I wanted to make it clear she can’t go away with doing that. I wasn’t..."

"Don’t give me that bullshit!"

"I’m telling you the truth."

"Then why the hell are you sitting here alone with her?"

"Because I was dealing with her!"

"Doing what? Discussing your wedding plans? How she’s going to suck you off?."

His eyes narrow.

"You’re not listening."

"Perhaps you should try telling me something worth listening to!"

I see his chest rise with a frustrated breath.

"Baby, put the gun down."

I almost laugh at the endearment.

Baby? Now I’m his baby?

He should be grateful I haven’t pulled the trigger already.

I am about to open my mouth when something moves in the corner of my eye.

The blonde...She’s reaching across the table.

At first, I don’t understand what she’s doing. Then I see her fingers close around something metallic.

My stomach drops.

Fuck!

How did I not notice the gun on the table?

I turn towards her fully, my own weapon shifting in her direction.

She’s holding a handgun.

Lysander’s head snaps towards her.

"Drop the fucking gun!"

She doesn’t.

Her fingers tighten around the weapon, and her eyes dart between us.

"Stay away from me!"

Lysander moves. He takes a step towards her, his expression changing so quickly. The calmness disappears, replaced by something cold and dangerous.

"Put it down."

She raises the gun and everything happens too quickly.

A single gunshot rings through the room.

For one terrible second, I don’t understand what has happened....then I see Lysander stagger.

His hand flies to his stomach, and he looks down at it as though he’s confused by what he’s seeing. When he pulls his hand away, there’s blood staining his palm.

My blood runs cold.

He doesnt let that stop him though, he continues towards her, one hand pressed against his stomach.

The blonde screams something, but I can’t hear her properly. My ears are ringing, and the room seems to have shifted around me as annother gunshot rings out.

I watch in absolute horror as Lysander drops to his knees. His body folds forward, one hand catching the floor while the other presses against his abdomen.

Something inside me snaps....the world suddenly comes rushing back.

I raise my gun and I don’t hesitate as I pull the trigger.

The bullet strikes her head and I watch as her body jerks backwards before she collapses to the floor.

I stand frozen, my gun still raised, staring at her lifeless body.

Then my eyes move to Lysander. He’s on his knees with a pool of blood beneath him.

Oh, God.

"Lysander!"
