The dragon's harem
Chapter 2298: Arad’s Hibernation X
Mary sighed, dropped back onto the bed, and threw her book aside. "That doesn’t really matter. You might not be smart, but you’re one crafty monster. Looking at Gojo, do you think you should respect him or not?"
Lola smiled. "Depends. Just the fact that you allowed him into our private room, and that Lilia is this relaxed him, means I should trust him as well. But as always, my guard is always up." Lola waved her hand to Gojo as she headed toward Mary’s bed.
Lilia stretched her arms. "I won’t say I’m relaxed around him. I have to stay careful all the time, or Liliana here would skin me alive." She turned around and looked at Liliana, only to get a disgusted glare back.
"Oh..." Lilia shivered. "Don’t look at me like that... it just turns me on." Lilia then jumped to her feet, still dripping from below, and looked at Gojo. "I’ve decided it; I’ll teach you how to dance around the Fates. But I won’t guarantee that you’ll learn anything."
Gojo stopped reading his spells and looked at her. "Teach me? How?"
Lilia crossed her arms, giggled, and smiled. "It’s simple. Keep your thoughts separated into two states: one state for processing the present, and one for processing the near future. Then, you calculate what decision you’ll make in the future and shift it in the present using that short time lag." She pointed at her eyes, leaned toward Gojo, and then opened her eyelids as wide as they got with her fingers. At the same time, her butt was spread into Liliana’s face, almost earning her a knife stab.
"Listen... an event happens, and light travels from that event to your eyes at the speed of light. Then, that light hits your eyes, reflects inside your retina, gets absorbed, and is turned into a nervous signal. That signal is then sent back to the brain, where it is processed into a conscious awareness of the present. That takes time." She stood straight and puffed her chest.
"So basically, we live in the past." Gojo replied, "Meaning that your trick merely allows the user to live in the present through predictive analysis."
Lilia started floating and clapped for him with her feet. "Good! Good! You get it! Even some regular humans can do what I just told you. It’s a useful trick." She leaned down, picked a book, and dropped it.
As the book dropped and hit the table, she smiled. "Did you see that? Follow its movements with your eyes, and keep an imaginary prediction of the book falling just beneath it. It should look like you’re seeing the book’s stats in the future, but that’s just your brain predicting the immediate future."
"I can do that." Gojo didn’t have a problem with doing such a simple prediction, but then Yog lifted the book again. "What about now?" She dropped it, and just before the book could hit the table, she kicked it with her foot.
She then smiled. "This is where it gets fun."
Gojo frowned. "Predicting multiple outcomes at the same time using environmental data. I shouldn’t just account for the book’s regular trajectory, but the effects of everything and anything in the environment around it."
"That’s the second stage; you’re quick. When you can do that, we’ll reach the final stage. Telling patterns apart and refining your predictions." She smiled. "Can you tell what it is?"
Gojo thought about it for a few seconds, but immediately reached one conclusion. "If the events don’t follow any of my predictions, and I was 99% confident in my prediction, then there is a good chance the Fates messed with something."
Hearing that response, Lilia shivered. "Exactly. That’s my Gojo, so smart. But you can already tell this isn’t the end, as we didn’t do anything magical yet."
"Of course." Gojo sighed. "Since we already live in the past due to the lag of our biology, that means that all of those predictions are just predictions of what already happened in the present, not the future."
"Exactly, there are two ways to go further. Even more predictive analyze that would require overwhelming intellect, brain power, and knowledge. Or using magic to look into the future." Lilia lifted her foot for a moment, and then stomped down on the desk, causing the entire room to disappear.
Gojo and Liliana found themselves standing in the middle of a vast empty room with Lilia floating between them. "The problem with using magic to predict the future is that you’ll be simply asking the Fates for tips, and that just doesn’t do it." She pointed at Gojo. "That’s why I suggest using your mind to predict further naturally, and act in a way that defies those predictions, and then use magic on top in an indirect way."
She summoned a spinning ball of magic over her hand and smiled. "The fate of the wild is spinning, and rapidly. The more unpredictable you are, the harder it is for the Fates to chain you down. It is true that they can see and predict everything, but that never means that resistance is futile."
"Then..." Liliana approached. "Are you saying that it should be possible to resist their influence?"
Lilia looked at her with a wide grin. "No, there is a huge difference between trying, being able to, and actually doing it. What I showed you is just one path of many to play against the Fates."
Lilia then shifted her attention back to Gojo. "This is your first test... try and..." But before she could finish, Gojo already grabbed her by the neck and started choking her. "You’re going to say something along the lines of that we can’t get out of here before I have sex with you with."
"Ex... actly..." Lilia lifted a thumbs-up as Gojo kept choking her with a calm and tired face. He wasn’t angry, but disappointed. Eventually, Liliana reached in and pushed her hand between Lilia’s legs and started playing with her. After just a few seconds, Lilia moaned, and the entire white room disappeared.
As they returned to the draconic queens’ royal room, Lilia dropped on the ground, twitched a bit and then sat up, still leaking from down there. "Ah... that felt great." She looked at them, and then back at the queens who were still discussing the war effort between their factions.
She sat up and flew toward them. "What? You two are still with the boring war?" She asked, and the two showed her a paper. "The Cursed Metal Drakaina has arrived."
Lilia looked at the report, still rubbing her neck, and then threw it away. "Ah, it’ll be fine. That Drakaina is a threat, but not a major one. She is one of those that words can get through."
The two queens agreed. "It’s probably better to let her to Arad’s wives to tackle." Mary said and Lola nodded. "And Alcott is there."
