Chapter 2338: A New Archangel in The Quarter

As the Head Priestess stood, Asmodeus did so as well. She had been treating her for a while and had to go back to her duties.

Head Priestess Ophan looked around the temple and at her sisters watching from the sidelines. She was no longer a devil like they were, but a being that transcended angels, an Archangel, the same kind of existence as Lucifer, even though she was objectively much less important than a primal angel.

She looked at her ten pale wings and made them disappear alongside her halo with a simple thought. This humanoid body wasn’t her true form after all. Closing her eyes for a second, she could see herself in her truest existence. A titanic black wheel of white eyes within a greater wheel of light, surrounded by shimmering chains and crackling humanoid bones.

The source of her divine magic was Arad himself, as his body seemed to be fueling her at the moment, even though the stream was mostly unstable, which is the reason she can’t just use her true form even if she wanted to.

After a moment of concentration, her skin turned red again, and her hair shifted back to black. Like all angels, this humanoid form was just an illusion, so she could easily shift it, and so she got back to looking like she did before. But what amazed her the most was that she was utterly unlocked, able to use regular magic, curses, divine magic, and even abominable magic to an extent, as Arad provided her with everything. So it wasn’t hard to mimic her curse from before.

Before she had the Curse of Convergence, it allowed her to converge and shift magic to unleash blasts of energy, but that curse also burned her nerves and veins when used, making it extremely painful and inconvenient to use. She can still use it, but probably won’t, since she now has an even better power.

As she lifted her hand, shackles appeared on her wrists, and she smiled. "So... I’m the catchpole?" As an Archangel of Domination, Supremacy, and Divine Submission, her job was to chain and drag both sinners and the enemies of her Lord to Hell.

"When will you set off?" Asmodeus asked, and Ophan smiled. "Right away, but I’ll visit often." She walked past her, and all of the nuns in the temple hid behind the walls. Even if Ophan heavily weakened her presence and took the form of a devil, the divine glimmer of her body was still enough to burn any devil that came close to her into ash. If she was a roaring flame, the devil nuns were nothing more than pieces of paper ready to be consumed.

Ophan then stopped, turned around, and looked at everyone. "I’ll be going now; take care of the temple." She then disappeared with a strange rumble, as if she tore space itself to leave. The nuns walked out of the shadows and approached Asmodeus, looking at her with worried faces. "Don’t worry, Ophan is the same. Having become an Archangel didn’t change who she is. It just gave her a new path in life, a new master to serve, and a new divine authority to maintain."

She then looked at them. "So, who of you is willing to become the next Head Priestess? If Haru were here, I would’ve assigned her to Ophan’s place..."

All of the devil nuns looked worried as none of them had the power to take on Ophan’s seat, and the poor one of them who will take the seat will be overworked for the next few decades.

Back inside Arad’s Private Quarter, Ophan appeared, standing in the middle of a green garden of roses and beautiful trees. As her eyes looked up, she could see the blue sky and white clouds above her.

"Strange... I should’ve appeared beside My Lord." She mumbled, and a voice laughed behind her. "Your Lord, my ass. Did you really think we’d let you teleport there just like that?"

Mathilde was floating behind her, burning with divine magic. Diana just appeared in front of her out of nowhere like a ghost, and Gabriella just crashed down from the sky like a meteor; if that wasn’t enough, thousands of angels were teleporting in and surrounding her from all directions, and all of them were ready to fight.

Baal was strangely absent, but that was because he was the last line of defense, resting right beneath Arad’s soul. But even without him showing up, she could still sense his aura rumbling in the depths of space outside the shimmering blue sky. He is technically her older brother... probably... or more like a senior soldier who outranks her by sheer experience and seniority.

"I’m only here to visit Our Lord." She spoke, and Diana approached her with a smile. "You knew damn well that teleporting here would end with you being killed."

"Diana is right. You’re lucky that the barriers didn’t just evaporate you." Mathilde landed, and so did Gabriella. As the three surrounded her, Ophan giggled.

"You three are powerful, but only an Archangel can stop me." She was technically right, as when comparing an Archon and an Archangel at their full power, the Archangel would always win. But there was a lot hanging on the ’Full Power’ term.

Ophan had just been reborn as an Archangel, and she was being fed by Arad’s not-so-immense divine magic. But the most important part is that even if she had been healed, she had just been beaten to a pulp by Tiamat, and those wounds still weakened her.

Diana smiled. "Want to bet on that?" With how much divine magic Kali was giving her, and Ophan’s current state, Diana was certain she’d win even in a one-on-one battle. But before anything could happen, a voice spoke.

"What do we have here? A slightly bigger angel." Betty was standing barefoot on Ophan’s head, and no one had sensed her coming. Ophan’s eyes moved, and she looked up, seeing Betty looking down at her.

"A mere Mortal dares to step on an Archangel?" She growled, and Betty giggled. "I mean, becoming an Archangel gave you a bigger head." In the next blink of an eye, Ophan was down to her underwear and tied with a rope on the ground; she was even gagged with her own torn clothes.

Ophan couldn’t even comprehend what happened. Even if Betty moved at the speed of light, she should’ve been able to at least react. But instead, she ended up like this. Her eyes quickly darted toward Betty, and she was about to blast her, only to realize that all of her divine reservoir of magic was dry.

"What did you do?" Ophan growled, and Betty sat on her. "Merlin asked me to stop you before you started a fight with the angels and damaged the internal structure of her Labyrinth, so I used this to drain you." She pulled a golden crystal out of nowhere. "I pulled divine magic from you and fed it to the angels around who lacked a bit."

The crystal could only hold a fraction of a regular angel’s power, meaning that Betty did the transfer thousands of times, if not more. "Neat, right? I got it from Kossuth. She said you’ll cause trouble."
