The dragon's harem
Chapter 2348: The Lord’s Tenebrous Eyes
Amaterasu growled as tens of her Archons rushed to her, and all of them were confused, as she had never gotten sick or been like this before. Even when gravely wounded, she wouldn’t even flinch. But now, she was curled on the ground in silence as blood gushed out of her eyes. The confused Archons looked at each other, everyone one of them hoping that someone else has an idea of what was going, and luckily, Yog was there.
"What’s going on? Your eyes are bleeding." Yog looked at her face, and Amaterasu mumbled. "I don’t know. I can’t see anything, my head hurts like hell, and yet... my divine magic isn’t affected."
Yog inspected Amaterasu’s bleeding eyes, and what she saw was both horrifying and amazing. Her eyes had melted and were now growing anew, pure, white, crystal clear, and instead of having her golden pupils, those ones were as black as the void itself, reflecting the glimmer of every star in the universe in their dark embrace.
As the eyes fully formed, Amaterasu could quickly see once more, but unlike before, she could see far better. Every atom, every electron, and every proton. The souls of everyone, the flow of time and space, the entire universe, all at once flooding into her mind.
It was so much information that she had to close her eyes and take a second to process everything that she had just seen. Her eyes weren’t normal; something had fundamentally changed about them, and it took Yog several seconds to figure it out.
"The Lord’s Tenebrous Eyes, those are AO’s eyes that allowed him to see everything." She put her hand on Amaterasu’s head and focused for a second. "Good, I linked to them. You can open your eyes now, and I’ll be the one to see out of them."
Amaterasu slowly opened her eyes, and Yog burst laughing. "They are really the Lord’s Tenebrous Eyes! I can see everything and anything." All of the Archons watching all froze, some cried, and many just backed away, shocked. They know what the ’Lord’ in the Lord’s Tenebrous Eyes means. Those are AO’s eyes, and to think that the creator’s eyes have appeared once more.
That also quickly reaffirmed something important. While Amaterasu had taken the universe’s throne by being the only one qualified for it, and technically being AO’s daughter, she didn’t really have any crowning ceremony or blessing from him. She just took the throne after he died, and that didn’t sit well with many ancient Archons and Archangels who served him.
But now, that completely changed as AO’s eyes had chosen her. Those eyes surely weren’t just a genetic or magic trait, but a living, conscious fragment of AO’s great existence. Their appearance on Amaterasu meant that he had finally approved of her as the Empress of the Universe.
Yog removed her hand, and Amaterasu closed her eyes.
"Those eyes are useless to anyone without my omniscience. No regular consciousness is powerful enough to withstand the amount of information they provide." She rested her fists on her hips. "But, if I had to pick someone beside me who could use them, even a bit, it’ll be you." She tapped Amaterasu on the back. "You just need to get used to them."
Amaterasu growled, and Yog looked at her angels. "Take her inside and let her rest. She’ll need a while to get used to those eyes. As you might’ve already guessed, they belong to AO, and such a power isn’t easy to control or endure even for her."
The angels all surrounded Amaterasu to guide her into her room, but she suddenly disappeared. Seeing that, Yog sighed. "That fool..." She then started floating. "Get ready! She is the kind of fool to go running the moment she removes a cast to see if her bones healed. She doesn’t like to take things slowly."
The entire universe was already spinning since Arad got his Nymph form and the Dark Matter came to life, but now, something even bigger started stirring. Amaterasu first relied on her Nymph nature to sense her stars, and then relied on those stars’ gravity to see and control space and time, allowing her to maintain everyone with sheer skill.
But now, all of that changed. She could see everything from the tiniest fragment of matter to the universe’s whole expansion. The entire tapestry of spacetime and fate opened in front of her eyes, and the first thing she did was optimize how her stars held the universe, and then immediately followed the fabric of space outside the universe, landing in front of the divine armies of the gods.
The army was on the verge of clashing with a whole colony of Abominations, and this was currently the biggest ongoing fight, led by Bahamut the Platinum Dragon and Chad, the Father of Humanity. Their enemy was powerful: three Avatars and a whole army of Abominations that aimed to clean this front and open a crack in the universe’s crust. In fact, this might’ve been AO’s fault, as this was the same place he shattered with destruction to empower himself in the latest fight.
AO had left a gaping wound on the universe’s crust, and like the disease they were, the Abominations were rushing in to take advantage.
But then, something massive landed between the two armies, and they both stopped in their track. Everyone looked at the dust, and the first to reach it were Nyar’s Avatars, as they could see them in the dust. Two dark, nebulous, tenebrous eyes glared right back at them.
"AO?" One of them cried, but when the dust cleared a bit, it was Amaterasu standing there, looking at them with a large grin on her face. "The Eyes of the Lord!?" The avatar gasped, and his face was cut in half in the next fraction of a second.
Amaterasu only carried a mundane katana, but each slash of hers was blindingly fast, precise, and perfectly empowered by divine magic just enough to damage the abominations while not shattering the blade. The slash was so perfect that the Avatar was able to heal instantly, and all three surrounded Amaterasu on the spot, swinging their tentacles at her.
But she could see it all, how they moved, how their black blood flowed, and most importantly, where the thread was. As her eyes followed it, Nyar immediately knew and freaked out. She was trying to locate his true body by following the link he used to control the Avatars. She didn’t come here just to fight, but to strike him down.
He immediately sent instructions to the Avatars and tried to cut the line, but Amaterasu was already after it, her vision following the thread into the endless dark void. Not even a single fraction of a second had passed, but with Amaterasu being busy, the three Avatars had their chance and swung at her. If they could just damage her enough...
CRACK! A fist punched one of the Avatars away, and before the second could react, a backhand slapped him like a fly. Chad, the Father of Humanity, stood behind Amaterasu and looked at her face with a curious gaze. "Look what you have there, Dad’s eyes."
The third Avatar was suddenly torn apart, and half of its army was crushed as a tall, shirtless, muscular old man with a long silver beard and mustache landed beside them. "Grandpa’s eyes... I almost forgot how they looked." This old man was Bahamut, the Metallic Dragon God, the one and only Platinum dragon and Asgorath’s eldest Son.
Amaterasu disappeared a fraction of a second later, as her prey wasn’t the Avatars, but Nyar’s true body.
