Chapter 266: Long story short

  • Next Chapter

?After the whole debacle with mother, the group and I walked our way back to the designated residence assigned to the humans, albeit in embarrassment due to the stunt I had pulled earlier.

?

?The moment we reached out destination, however, I was met with a creepy grin from none other than Instructor Edmond Black, the moustached man. The other figures who had came with him to supervise the youths were also present. Including but not limited to Alistair’s master who was looking at me with a not so grateful eyes, quite different than I remembered.

?

?’This can’t be good.’ A chill ran down my spine.

?

?"I’ve been dying to finally meet you face to face after you revealed yourself, kid." The instructor said as his grin widened.

?

?"Its nice to see you too instructor." I forced a smile.

?

?"Its nice to see me too? You almost forced me to tears at your funeral but it turns out you were alive all along." Edmond said.

?

?’Really? At least tell a better lie than that, old man.’ I inwardly smirked.

?

?"But worry not, I’ll have a lot of time with you after we return to the human domain. For now though, go rest, you have a tough battle tomorrow."

?

?"Tougher than the one I fought today?" I glanced at the Sia who was looking at the instructor with a blank gaze.

?

?"Ok, when you put it like that, it’s not much tough." He sighed. "Though, I’d still advice not to be complacent."

?

?"I’ll keep that in mind." I nodded and was about to leave with the rest, only for Instructor summers voice to stop me.

?

?"Wait, what about the boy you were impersonating, where is he?" She asked pointedly.

?

?’Shit!’ I blinked. ’Would it be an issue if I said I had totally forgotten about him?’ I thought. But looking at the curious expressions of everyone present, I realized it was not a wize thing to say.

?

?Truth be told, I hadn’t visited that guy even once ever since I imprisoned him in the mirror dimension.

?

?"The boy is in his room, in fact I was just planning to go get him." I blatantly lied. But then I hered a quite chuckle from behind me.

?

?"Ahem!" ignoring the chuckle, I continued. "I let me go get him, Aric, Dion, could you come with me?" I asked, already walking forward.

?

?Under everyone’s scrutiny, Dion, and Aric promptly slipped after me. But it wasn’t only them, Sia, Rose, and surprisingly, Delilah also followed suit.

?

?I didn’t want to waste my time asking why she was following after us, so.i simply acted as if she wasn’t there.

?

?The trip to the room assisted to the boy whose identity I had stole... I meant borrowed was remarkably short. We were there in less than a minute.

?

?Reaching the door, I turned to the others. "Alright, the moment I open this door, you must immediately enter at that instant, I don’t want to risk him running away."

?

?"Wow, you literally kidnapped a boy and hid him in a room, if I didn’t know any better, I’d say you swung the other way." Dion chuckled.

?

?"Why enter instantly though, I doubt the boy is powerful enough to stop even a single one of us, talk less of all, and that is taking into account any dangerous ability he might posses." Sia looked at me.

?

?"It’s not that, I just don’t want to waste time trying to catch him." I replied.

?

?"Is he that slippery?" Aric asked with a frown. "If so, I can slip us underneath using the door with my shadow."

?

?"You know what, that actually is a pretty nice idea. Why didn’t I think of that?" I smiled.

?

?In a moment, Aric’s shadow went underneath our feet, and with none of us resisting, we sank into the shadows. The next moment, we reappeared inside the room.

?

?"There’s no one here." Aric’s voice echoed from beside me. He had probably been expecting so seem someone tied up in a corner. Who does that anyway, primitives?

?

?"Don’t tell me you him inside that other space you seem to slip into?" Rose asked, a statement rather than a question.

?

?"Wow, you’re finally learning how not to be dumb from good old me." I glanced back at Rose. But seeing the pointy glare she was sparing me, I coughed and continued.

?

?"My dear sister is right, I..." But I was interrupted.

?

?"I am not your dear sister." Rose flatly replied.

?

?"You hurt me, dear sister." I faked a hurt voice.

?

?"Need your mommy to watch you win?" Dion suddenly said in a high pitched little girl’s tone much like he did earlier.

?

?"Not helping Dion." I glared. "Anyway, the reason you can’t see him is because I hid him in the mirror dimension."

?

?"So that’s the space you slip into to avoid attacks." Delilah who had been suspiciously silent since she followed after us finally voiced out.

?

?"I was tempted to ignore her, but having a big heart and all, I decided to be the bigger person.

?

?"That is correct." I said walking to the other side of the room, and stood in front of the large mirror.

?

?There was one reason why I told everyone to quickly enter the moment I opened the door, and that was because the size of the mirror dimension in this mirror, is relative to the reflection visible on it.

?Which was about the size of this room, so yeah, that kid has not seen the sun for quite a few days.

?

?The moment I opened the door however, it wouldn’t take a genius to know that the boy would immediately lunge for it, in hopes of escape.

?

?And I didn’t want to have to waste more energy trying to catch him, hence the reason why I was cautious.

?

?As soon as I came into contact with the mirror, the things reflected on its surface changed abruptly. Instead of reflecting myself, a disheveled young man holding a dagger pointed at my hand appeared on the mirror.

?

?"Hey, relax, I’m here to get you out, don’t do anything drastic okay?" I asked, but it wasn’t much of a question.

?

?The moment he got distracted by my question, my hand sank into the mirror, and yanked him out like a sack of potatoes.

?

?Almost immediately, shadows wrapped around his form, holding him in place to prevent any frenzied attack from him, courtesy to the quick thinking of Aric. I didn’t want to have to hurt him.

?

?"I have been stuck here... FOR OVER A WEEK!" The young man exclaimed in indignation. His features were unmistakably the same as mine while I was disguised as the imposter.

?

?"My apologies, young man, you’d be hard pressed to find a bad host much as my bro over here." Dion crouched next to the young man. But all the tied up dude did was glare at all of our faces.

?

?"Could you deposit him to the ground floor, or where ever instructor back is at the moment?" I turned to Aric.

?

?The next moment, the young man sunk into the shadows. As for where Aric actually took him, T.N.M.P, short for totally not my problem.

?

?Of course I still had plans to compensate the guy, but that was after all the shit show in the coming days has passed.

?

?Was I guilty about what I did to him? Maybe. But as far as I’m concerned, I had probably saved his life. There was no guarantee that he’d survive falling from the sky, or cross someone he shouldn’t during the the second phase.

?

?"Now that that is settled, would you mind explaining to us where you’ve been for the whole time you were ’dead’?" Sia asked.

?

?"You want the short version or the long one?"

?

?"Short." Rose replied in her stead.

?

?"Okay, you all are gonna have to sit for this." I said as I took a seat on the side of the mattress, while gesturing for the rest to take a seat on the couches.

?

?After they all sat down, I began telling them the short version of my story.

?

?"Long story short, that thing punching a hole through me and scattering our ship, sending us falling into the water was the last thing I remember. Then I woke up to these asshole who looked exactly like me telling me I was dead. The bastard then claimed he could bring me back to life if I allowed him to posses my body for a minute.

?

?After I agreed, I found myself floating in the sea, perhaps in the exact same place I had falling into. I then swam to the nearest city after which I checked the date only to realize a month had passed, and that it was my birthday.

?

?After that,.I headed for silver city, met my subordinates, and got us all on an airship to the demon continent. "Ait was slow as fuck, taking us about a week to reach here. Then we spent the whole time journeying on foot to the demon capital, took us almost two months.

?

?After that, I disguised myself as a demon, rented a shop, and began selling information on the youths participating in the convergence.

?

?And then last but not least, I kidnapped that kid and places him in this mirror the night before the convergence began. You know all the things that happened after. I think that pretty much sums it all, right guys?"

?

?"...."

?"...."

?

?"Uh...guys?"
