The Elven Cultivator

Chapter 179 - 172: Remote Inheritance

The two Elf maidens weren't particularly strong. At most, they were Upper Gold.

But their teamwork was exceptionally coordinated.

The maiden wielding the War Axe and clad in dark teal armor was the main attacker. Every swing of her War Axe was accompanied by a deep clap of thunder, and dazzling arcs of electricity danced along the edge of its blade.

Whenever the consul was struck by the War Axe—even if it was just their weapons clashing and not a direct hit to his body—fine tendrils of lightning would still crawl up the metal, causing his body to seize in uncontrollable paralysis for a moment.

Seizing this opportunity, the other maiden, dressed in a green robe and holding a strange little tree, would pluck a fruit from its branches. With a flick of her finger, the fruit would instantly transform into a bolt of lightning, a scorching flame, or a gale-force wind that would strike the consul with devastating power.

With the two of them working together, even a distinguished consul of Dragon City found himself unable to break free from their entanglement for the moment.

"Is that... an Extraordinary Level Magic Weapon?"

Aurion's gaze swept over the weapons in the two Elf maidens' hands, his brows knitting ever tighter.

His eyes quickly scanned the rest of the battlefield, and he realized it wasn't just the two Elf maidens. The weapons wielded by Cedric, Second Elder Axel, and several other Elves were also clearly no ordinary items.

Even their armor was out of the ordinary.

'Where did the Silver Moon Clan get so many pieces of Extraordinary Level Magic Equipment?'

Aurion's mind was filled with shock and uncertainty.

He wouldn't have been too surprised if the Silver Moon Clan were using the Extraordinary Level Magic Equipment they had seized from fallen consuls in the past, but that was clearly not the case here.

It was even less likely that the Magic Equipment was provided by the Fallen Dragon Association.

Sieg and his men weren't nearly as well-equipped.

Buying them from other factions was obviously unrealistic.

Besides Dragon City, what other power could supply so much Extraordinary Level Magic Equipment?

Then the only explanation was that the Silver Moon Clan had forged it themselves!

Connecting this to the Silver Moon Clan's performance recently, Aurion faintly realized something.

The Silver Moon Clan's production capabilities might far exceed their expectations.

"Damn it!"

Aurion's expression was as dark as storm clouds.

The situation was developing in a way that was completely different from what he had anticipated.

All six consuls were tied down.

As for the remaining high-ranking Pure-blooded Dragon Race officers, their numbers did indeed far surpass those of the Silver Moon Clan and the Fallen Dragon Association.

But the enemy had the Five Camp Divine Soldiers.

The numerous Five Camp Divine Soldiers formed five-man arrays, trapping the Dragon Race officers one by one within them.

Even if they couldn't kill their opponents, it was enough to keep those Dragon Race officers from breaking free for a short time.

Meanwhile, the Dragon Race officers not trapped by the Five Camp Divine Soldiers were locked in one-on-one combat with fighters of a similar level from the Silver Moon Clan or the Fallen Dragon Association.

Although the Elves were fewer in number, they relied on the buffs from those strange "paper scrolls" and the equipment in their hands, even faintly gaining the upper hand in localized clashes.

For a while, the battle among the High Tier combatants did not result in the overwhelming advantage Dragon City had expected. Instead, it fell into a delicate stalemate.

The attrition of forces over the past three months had not drained the Silver Moon Clan's war potential as he had hoped.

Now, even among the High Tier forces, they had failed to secure the absolute advantage they desired.

This caused a strong sense of frustration and unease to well up in Aurion's heart.

'These damn pointy-ears, why are they so hard to deal with?'

The fury in Aurion's heart surged. He pushed his stone-rock power to its limit, his claws striking like an earth-shattering landslide. Each blow that smashed into the surrounding thorns sent a cloud of debris flying.

The Great Elder's expression remained unchanged. He simply summoned more thorns to fill the gaps, fighting steadily and unhurriedly.

He didn't expect to defeat Aurion; he just needed to hold him back and buy time for the others.

At the edge of the forest, the roar of Magic and the clash of steel blended together.

The High Tier combatants from both sides fought fiercely. The battlefield spread from the forest into the sky, then crashed back down to the ground, churning the land that had already been repeatedly ravaged by the flames of war into an even more shattered state.

The aftershocks of the battle were so violent that the soldiers from both sides subconsciously avoided the center of the battlefield, retreating to the flanks to continue their fight.

Although most of the Five Camp Divine Soldiers had been drawn away to deal with the Dragon Race officers, the Elves, aided by Arrays, Talismans, and green vines, tightened their defensive lines and held their ground. For the time being, they were in no danger of defeat.

...

"How surprising."

On the ridge, Grant clicked his tongue in amazement.

He had thought that faced with the full force of Dragon City's High Tier combatants, the Silver Moon Clan would choose to hole up and defend passively within their Array.

Even if not, he expected they would rely on the Array's power to maneuver against the enemy, not daring to rashly leave the protection of that green barrier of light.

But he never imagined that the Silver Moon Clan would not only take the initiative to fight, but do so without even relying on the Array, managing to withstand the assault of Dragon City's High Tier forces in a head-on confrontation.

They had even faintly gained the upper hand on parts of the battlefield.

For example, there was that Elf Warrior who had mastered some sort of Law similar to heavy pressure.

And then there were those two young Elf maidens.

The latter interested Grant even more.

The fighting styles of the two Elf maidens were both rather peculiar.

The girl with the War Axe had no trace of Magic Power fluctuations on her, yet her physical body was absurdly powerful.

Her strength, speed, and reflexes were even superior to most Warriors who enhanced themselves with Magic Power.

And her combat techniques—that axe style accompanied by thunder, that powerful yet agile way of fighting—it was completely different from the mainstream combat styles of the continent he had seen. It bore not the slightest resemblance to the graceful and nimble methods typically used by the Elf Race.

In his several hundred years of life, it was the first time Grant had ever seen an Elf with such a savage and ferocious fighting style.

As for the other maiden...

"Alicia," Grant said suddenly. "The Magic cast by that girl in the green robe, do you recognize any of it?"

Alicia understood what he meant and shook her head. "It's not common elemental Magic, nor is it conjuration, Transformation, or Illusion Technique... It doesn't quite resemble any school of Magic I know. It gives me a feeling of being similar yet different."

"And that piece of Magic Equipment in her hand, I've never seen that style before either." Alicia's gaze fell on the small tree in Eleanor's palm. "Its structure and how it functions... it seems very different from mainstream Alchemy."

"Even you don't recognize it..." Grant stroked his chin, a thoughtful expression on his face. "It seems the two of them are cultivating some kind of special system we've never seen before."

Alicia nodded slightly.

The Dawn Continent was vast and boundless. Cultivation systems were as numerous as the stars in the sky, each one strange and unique.

It wasn't too unusual for some remote legacies or lost ancient schools to occasionally produce some eye-opening and peculiar methods.

However, to be able to arm two young Elves who hadn't even awakened the Power of Law to the point where they could contend with a Dragon City consul, the completeness and potential of this system were likely far beyond what one would consider a mere "obscure legacy."

"It's not just those two girls. The combat methods of those Elf Warriors are the same."

Grant mused thoughtfully.

"I heard Anton's combat methods are also very special. Perhaps he's the source of all this, and these Elves were merely influenced by him."

Alicia didn't reply, her gaze returning to the battlefield.

Those two Elf maidens were clearly far weaker than their opponent, yet they were holding their own by relying on their equipment and their strange, powerful combat methods. It was truly surprising.

Just then, Alicia let out a soft sound of surprise.

"What is it?" Grant asked.

"Something's not right with that member of the Dragon Race," Alicia said slowly. "Inside his body... there seems to be something strange."

'Strange?'

Grant focused his gaze on the Dragon Race consul, but he couldn't see anything out of the ordinary.

But he knew Alicia and how keen her perception was.

If she said there was a problem, then there most likely was one.

"Was it something those two girls did?" he asked.

Alicia nodded slightly, then her expression tensed. "It's happening."

As if in response to her words, a sudden change occurred on the battlefield.

The consul, who had been in the middle of a fierce assault, suddenly froze.

His movements seemed to have been pinned in place by some invisible force. Incredulous horror appeared in his vertical pupils.

In the next instant, countless fine bolts of lightning erupted simultaneously from the gaps between the scales all over his body.

The lightning bolts were as thin as hairs, yet blindingly bright. Azure and silver-white light intertwined, looking like thousands of venomous snakes bursting out from within his body, writhing and hissing madly in the air.

Wherever the lightning touched, his scales shattered, and his blood was vaporized into a crimson mist by the intense heat before it could even flow out.

"AHHH!!"

The consul let out a bloodcurdling scream that echoed across the battlefield.

His body convulsed violently amidst the lightning as he desperately tried to activate his Power of Law to suppress the energy rampaging from within, but it was completely useless.

The moment the lightning erupted, Eleanor and Romance moved almost simultaneously.

Eleanor's hand shot out like lightning toward the Six-Fruit Treasure Tree. She flicked her fingers repeatedly.

Three fruits left their branches at the same time.

One was crimson as lava, one was deep blue as the ocean depths, and one was turquoise as a gale.

The tri-colored brilliance swirled at her fingertips, instantly transforming into three sharp Techniques that slammed into the lightning-shrouded figure, causing a great spray of blood mist to explode outwards.

At the same time, Romance shot forward like a cheetah.

The electricity on the Thunderstrike Axe surged. Silver-white arcs of lightning leaped and hissed along the blade's edge, ionizing the surrounding air into a pale blue haze.

She used no fancy tricks—she simply gripped the axe with both hands, twisted her waist, and put her full force into it.

CHOP!

The axe blade, wreathed in thunder and lightning, solidly hacked into the side of the consul's neck.

CRACK!

The sound of shattering scales was clearly audible.

The blade cut into flesh and blood, and the smell of burning instantly filled the air.

But Romance didn't stop.

She withdrew the axe, spun, and brought it down three more times in quick succession.

With every chop, lightning poured from the axe blade into the consul's body, coordinating with the Yin-Thunder Seed erupting from within.

Flesh and blood were charred and carbonized by the lightning.

His bones groaned, unable to bear the strain.

By the time Romance's fifth axe fell, the consul's neck was mostly severed. His head lolled to one side at a grotesque angle, connected only by a layer of charred skin and flesh.

Blood gushed from the wound, only to be vaporized by the lightning into a crimson mist.

His body stiffened for a moment, then, like a felled dead tree, it crashed heavily to the ground, kicking up a cloud of dust mixed with bloody froth.
