Chapter 101: Chapter 100: Autopsy, Let Me Examine the Body
Feng Qing followed Rong Ling’s gaze to the two people in the sky and noticed that the old woman on the ground somewhat resembled Caiyun, realizing they must be Caiyun’s parents.
Feng Qing glanced over and found the two kneeling people on the ground were both ill, emaciated and lacking vitality.
However, at this moment, Feng Qing didn’t have the heart to be a good Samaritan, and quietly watched them.
Rong Ling looked at the two kneeling people and said, "Repeat what you said earlier."
The older man coughed twice and began to speak: "My daughter previously brought back a set of headgear and asked me to pawn it, saying it was for treating my son Xiaofeng’s illness."
"I asked her who gave her the headgear, she said it was their Princess Consort, and the Princess Consort asked her to help with something."
As he spoke, the old man couldn’t help but cry, and the woman beside him also started crying, both crying as they spoke.
"We are the ones who burdened her with our illnesses. Initially, to treat our illnesses, she entered the Prince Mansion to sell herself, and later, all the money she earned was spent on buying medicine for us."
"We were already a burden to her, never expected that her brother would get sick again recently. She told us not to worry and that she would find a way."
"Had we known this would harm her, we would never have agreed to her doing this."
The two old people finished speaking and cried again, while Feng Qing squinted at them, realizing they weren’t lying; it seemed Caiyun hadn’t told them the whole story.
Feng Qing thought of Caiyun—gentle and peaceful—unexpectedly shouldered so much burden.
Right, since her parents and brother were all sick, how could she possibly hang herself voluntarily? She wouldn’t be able to let go of her loved ones, so it was likely this hanging was a cover-up, a murder and silencing, with more to it than met the eye.
As Feng Qing was lost in thought, Rong Ling beside her frowned, a sharp glint flashed in his eyes, and he turned to Feng Qing and asked, "What do you say?"
Feng Qing coldly looked at him and replied, "What does Prince want me to say? Do you want me to admit to this crime? Would nothing satisfy you until you hear me say I’m the mastermind?"
Feng Qing became genuinely angry by the end, suddenly kicking the nearby multi-treasure shelf.
"Whatever I say, it’s obvious someone is framing me, and you’re blaming others for trouble you brought upon yourself. If you had handed over what you should have earlier, would so much trouble have arisen?"
As Feng Qing’s scolding hit the ground, Rong Ling on the couch wore a frost-like cold face, his dark eyes exuding a knife-like aura.
"Feng Qing."
Upon hearing his call, Feng Qing regained her cool, glanced at him coldly, and said, "Autopsy, I’ll conduct the autopsy."
With that, she turned and walked out. Behind her, Rong Ling sternly ordered Nan Feng, "Go with her."
Caiyun’s body was currently placed in her room, and at this moment, dawn was breaking. The maids in the Purple Bamboo Pavilion did not know what had happened, only aware that Caiyun had supposedly hung herself. When Feng Qing and Nan Feng arrived with others, the maids all exclaimed together.
"Princess Consort."
Feng Qing nodded slightly and led Nan Feng as they walked inside.
Caiyun had been laid down on the ground, and Feng Qing paced over, inspecting her from head to toe, finally focusing on the area around Caiyun’s neck and the root of her tongue, scrutinizing closely.
Finally, she stood up straight and motioned Nan Feng to come closer for a look.
"Look closely, there are two overlapping marks on her neck, one deeper and one shallower, barely noticeable unless you look carefully. See, at the crossing point at the back of the neck, there are faint overlapping marks, deep inside and shallow outside, indicating that someone strangled her to death first, then hanged her up. The initial strangle mark is deeper because she was not yet dead, and the blood flow was great, leaving a deep mark."
