The Empress Wants a Divorce Every Day
Chapter 90 - 89: Poisoned
Chapter 90: Chapter 89: Poisoned
In the main hall, Feng Qing stared in shock at all this. Who said that ancient women never left the house, were conservative, and adhered strictly to etiquette? Look at these, they’re even more open than modern people.
They’re all pushing to have men sleep with them.
Feng Qing had her eyes opened wide. She glanced at Consort Jiang and the others, then looked at Rong Ling beside her. He hadn’t had a proper rest for days and she was also rather tired, wasn’t she?
Feng Qing thought to herself and spoke up, "Then tonight, Prince can go rest at Consort Jiang’s place. I could use a good rest myself."
So tired, Feng Qing yawned.
Consort Jiang immediately smiled happily, her eyes soft as she looked at Rong Ling. She was going to be favored by the Prince tonight; this was wonderful.
Consort Jiang’s heart raced; this was her first time, and she was quite looking forward to it.
Unfortunately, just as Consort Jiang was celebrating, Rong Ling’s icy voice rang out: "What nonsense; if you’re idle, copy the Precepts for Women and Rules for Women five times every night. Without virtue and grace, what is a woman? All of you, leave."
In one remark, he shattered Consort Jiang’s beautiful dream. The faces of several women in the hall changed, all looking at Rong Ling in unison.
Rong Ling, however, was particularly annoyed. He disliked women being so proactive in seeking favor; women should be virtuous and graceful, and whether they are favored is up to the men.
Consort Jiang and Consort Song among others dared not say another word, apologized to Rong Ling with red eyes, and withdrew from the main hall of the Purple Bamboo Pavilion.
Feng Qing looked speechlessly at Rong Ling on one side, realizing this guy was still quite masculine; women throwing themselves at him seemed not to be to his liking. But this was none of her business.
Rong Ling cast a cold glance at Feng Qing, very upset about Feng Qing’s earlier suggestion for him to rest at Consort Jiang’s side.
"In the future, refrain from making decisions on my behalf."
Feng Qing rolled her eyes, thinking she liked minding his affairs. If those women hadn’t come over, would she have said that? Honestly.
In the flower hall, the dishes were already set, and Rong Ling and Feng Qing sat one after the other to have dinner.
But just as they sat down and took a few bites, Feng Qing noticed Rong Ling’s face was flushed. His already exceptional features, with this blush, exuded a touch of seductive beauty, and his phoenix eyes seemed to have a watery glow, making him look like a fairy.
Feng Qing looked at him, feeling something was off. Opposite her, his complexion was becoming increasingly attractive, his white skin tinged with red, his eyes filled with a spring-like allure, making one want to strip him and overpower him.
But he hadn’t drunk any alcohol or seemed feverish, so why was his face so red?
Feng Qing felt something was amiss. At this moment, the man opposite seemed to feel the heat, sweat unconsciously seeping from his cheeks, and as the sweat emerged, a faint fragrance in the room became noticeable.
Feng Qing was now certain, her face changed instantly, and she shouted at Rong Ling across from her, "Prince, stop, you’re poisoned."
As Feng Qing’s words fell, several figures flashed in from outside the room, led by Nan Feng, Rong Ling’s subordinate.
Behind Nan Feng followed Nan Xuan and several other subordinates. As soon as they entered, they first smelled a faint fragrance lingering in the room, barely detectable unless carefully noticed, and when they rushed to the Prince’s side, they discovered the scent was emanating from Rong Ling.
At this point, Rong Ling’s poison finally broke out. He felt a sharp pain in his heart, as if needles were piercing it, and accompanying this pain was the rising blood, with a sound of vomiting, Rong Ling spat out a large mouthful of blood...
