The End of the Immortal Path
Chapter 629: Bai Family Ancestor: Your Methods Are Truly Unique
Soon, someone from the Law Enforcement Hall arrived. After a brief investigation, he discovered that none of these three individuals were simple.
One was a member sent by the Ji Family from the Immortal Sect region for a marriage alliance. Another had a special identity and was studying through a special channel. Lastly, there was Jiang Man, who had outstanding achievements and was backed by Ji Hao’s guarantee. In all likelihood, he would become the Ji Family’s marriage alliance partner. Of course, he was also a member of the Zhenyue Bureau.
The investigator sighed. In the past, Senior Brother Ren Qian had always handled investigations and contacts. He didn’t really know how to deal with these people. Moreover, the Law Enforcement Hall was severely understaffed now, so they truly didn’t have the energy to waste on them.
“Your matter can be considered either serious or minor,” the investigator said, looking at Jiang Man and the others. “How do you want to handle this?”
In the end, the three of them paid ten thousand Spiritual Sources each and walked out of the Law Enforcement Hall. All three were very restrained and didn’t start another fight. Although fighting was allowed in the Inner Sect, doing so right after being released would carry a hint of provoking the Law Enforcement Hall. Since they were able to get out at this time, they naturally couldn’t cause any more trouble.
Afterward, Jiang Man used Sword Control to escort Ji Meng back. It was getting late.
“Young Master Jiang can still use Sword Control even while injured?” Ji Meng asked curiously.
“It’s a minor issue,” Jiang Man replied breezily.
“Young Master Jiang is quite concerned about saving face.” Ji Meng smiled. “Actually, I also know Sword Control. I can carry Young Master Jiang.”
Jiang Man naturally refused. Her Sword Control was way too fast; it wasn’t suitable.
On the way, Ji Meng asked curiously, “When Young Master Jiang told the others that you were going to give me a big surprise, were you just making up an excuse?”
“No, I truly am going to give Miss Ji Meng a massive surprise,” Jiang Man answered truthfully.
“Is it really that massive?” Ji Meng smiled brightly.
“Of course.”
“Then when will I be able to see it?”
“You’ll need to wait for a while.”
“Then I will wait for Young Master Jiang.”
“That puts a lot of pressure on me.”
“If it’s not good enough, how about I adjust your discount? Like changing it from twenty percent off to seventeen percent off.”
Hearing this, Jiang Man immediately said, “My pressure just completely vanished.”
Ji Meng laughed out loud. “Young Master Jiang, you have quite a few weaknesses. Oh, right, this is for you.” As she spoke, she brought out a baked flatbread. “I grabbed one during the fight. We hadn’t even had the chance to eat it before the other side attacked.”
With that, she tore the flatbread in half, giving one piece to him and keeping the other for herself. Jiang Man took it and found that it was still warm. Ji Meng explained that she had warmed it up using a Magic Skill, as it tasted better hot.
While eating, Ji Meng suddenly asked, “Do other men also take women out shopping and then get into fights?”
“I don’t know, but I really need to focus on my Cultivation,” Jiang Man shook his head.
“Why?” Ji Meng was curious.
“It would be terrible if I couldn’t win a fight,” Jiang Man replied.
“A Celestial Pride suffering a setback in front of a woman?” Ji Meng mused.
“It’s suffering a setback in front of a young girl,” Jiang Man corrected her.
This time, they had encountered the Bai Family Ancestor. Even with both of them working together, they couldn’t securely take him down. If they were to encounter Peak Master Bai next time, wouldn’t they be completely doomed? His Cultivation had no restrictions. The situation would be dire.
Ting Fengyin was right; he wasn’t working hard enough. For others, hard work might not yield immediate results because their Talent was limited, meaning it would take a long time to see any growth. But he was an Unparalleled Celestial Pride. For him, hard work meant progress, with no end in sight. Being lazy was simply failing his own Talent.
Afterward, Jiang Man safely escorted Ji Meng back.
“Miss Ji Meng, I’m heading back.”
“Young Master Jiang, there is something I need to tell you.”
Jiang Man felt a bit curious.
“Mr. Tantai said you owe her one hundred thousand Spiritual Sources, so she came and asked me for it,” Ji Meng said.
Jiang Man was puzzled. Why would she ask Ji Meng for it?
“She said that you and I have a deep relationship, so it’s the same whoever she asks. She insisted that I repay it, so I gave it to her.” Ji Meng paused for a moment before adding, “Should you go explain it to her? We haven’t even officially formed our marriage alliance yet.”
“Then I’ll talk to her when I have time,” Jiang Man paused and replied.
Saying that, Jiang Man quickly fled, his Sword Control speed incredibly fast. As for explaining—explain what? Next time he borrowed more, he would just have her go to Ji Meng again. At worst, he would just owe Miss Ji Meng in the future. It was just going to be hard to borrow.
As Ji Meng watched him leave, she couldn’t help but sigh. “He’s terrified that I’ll ask him to pay back the Spiritual Sources.”
Hearing her voice, Qing Dai immediately came out. “Miss, you’re back?”
“Mhm,” Ji Meng nodded.
“Where did the future groom take you to play today, Miss?” Qing Dai asked.
“He took me to get into a fight with someone,” Ji Meng thought for a moment and replied.
Qing Dai was confused. What did that mean? She continued to press for details, but Ji Meng refused to say more, which left Qing Dai overwhelmingly curious. What exactly did the young miss and the future groom go do? They were always so secretive every single time.
Upon returning to his residence, Jiang Man immediately sought out the Old Yellow Ox. He recounted everything that had happened during his outing, mentioning the fact that he had already earned a massive amount of Spiritual Sources.
“Old Huang, do you think I have a Talent for business? I earned them so incredibly fast,” Jiang Man said.
The Old Yellow Ox continued grazing on grass without responding.
A moment later, Jiang Man asked, “Old Huang, do you know about the Supreme Skill?”
“You obtained the Supreme Skill?” The Old Yellow Ox raised his brows slightly.
“I saw it once,” Jiang Man replied honestly, taking out the stone.
“It really is. It’s said that this Skill is picky about its users. Being able to encounter it means you are destined for it,” the Old Yellow Ox said.
“Does that mean it will be easy for me to find the Supreme Heart Hall?” Jiang Man continued.
The Old Yellow Ox looked puzzled.
“I want to establish the Licheng Immortal Dojo in the Supreme Heart Hall,” Jiang Man explained.
The Old Yellow Ox fell silent for a long time before asking, “After reaching the Returning Void stage?”
“I want my Primordial Spirit to establish the Licheng Immortal Dojo,” Jiang Man shook his head.
The Old Yellow Ox initially wanted to say that it was extremely dangerous, but he quickly swallowed those words and changed his tune. “That fits your style as an Unparalleled Celestial Pride.”
Jiang Man was taken aback, feeling that Old Huang shouldn’t have reacted this way. Old Huang had changed.
“The Supreme Heart Hall isn’t a hard place to find, but that applies to the Evil Gods,” Old Huang looked at Jiang Man and said. “For you, finding it will be even easier than finding an Immortal Sect.”
Jiang Man immediately thought of Mu Kong and the Ling Hua Immortal Spirit. However, Old Huang instantly added, “They won’t do.”
Jiang Man was confused.
“Don’t you have someone who can contact the Sun and Moon Immortal Path? Look for them,” the Old Yellow Ox said.
“Will they actually tell me?” Jiang Man was curious.
“Based on what you’ve said, they probably will. However, the identity you use with them is Zui Fusheng, so you need to be careful. It won’t be good if those two identities become too closely linked,” the Old Yellow Ox warned.
Pausing for a moment, he then brought up the mysterious Evil God—the one who had cooperated with the Ling Hua Immortal Spirit. Perhaps he could get some information from that entity as well. Jiang Man felt he could try both avenues.
In addition, there was Zhao Tiankuo. As a Great Demon, he surely knew some information too. Besides, he was supposed to be making up a story. It had been so many years; hadn’t he come up with one yet?
After roughly figuring out what to do, Jiang Man decided to focus on his Cultivation. Fighting the Bai Family Ancestor today made him realize that he truly had been too lazy. He needed to Cultivate properly.
The third Gourd for his Cultivation was already full, so he could absolutely buy some Elixirs and begin his breakthrough. The third Gourd for his Physical Body was also nearly full; he was just inches away from Primordial Spirit Perfection.
Then, his next goal was to secure a top-three spot in the third year. For the rest of the year, he wouldn’t go out; he would focus on competing for the rankings. Once he obtained the qualifications for the Returning Void stage, he could find an opportunity to kill the Bai Family Ancestor and subsequently establish the Immortal Ascension Dojo.
At night, in the Outer Sect.
The Bai Family Ancestor looked up at the night sky, his brows slightly furrowed.
“It feels like the time is almost here. It should be within the next year or two,” the Bai Family Ancestor muttered to himself. “Just who exactly is it?”
He had made calculations many times, but there wasn’t a single trace. This was abnormal. In other words, his fated death wasn’t going to be an accident, but rather the result of someone’s long-premeditated plan.
“It’s bizarre, but I’ll know the answer soon enough, so it’s not a bad thing,” he mused. “I just wonder if the other party is actually capable of killing me.”
Shaking his head, he began to make his preparations.
“Since I don’t have much time left, I should figure out a way to send that old woman from the Ji Family back,” he thought.
However, the difficulty of doing so had increased significantly. After clashing with Jiang Man this time, he realized that the young man’s strength was indeed improving very rapidly. No wonder he could marry a woman like that; he certainly had some capability. As for their relationship, it seemed genuinely quite good.
It wasn’t surprising; he had a very smooth way with words. In truth, the Bai Family Ancestor was also quite curious about how an old woman of her age had managed to marry a young man in the prime of his youth.
To this day, it remained an absolute mystery. Neither the Immortal Sect nor the Ji Family seemed to have any information on the matter. All they knew was that Meng Qiewei had gotten married, but they had no idea exactly how it had come to pass.
