Chapter 650: Chapter 349: Is This How You Roam the Jianghu?
In the courtyard, Jiang Man sat cross-legged. It was late at night, and the moonlight spilled from above, casting his shadow onto the bluestone ground. Occasional insect chirps came from outside the courtyard wall. The Old Yellow Ox had stopped grazing and was lying at the base of the wall, its tail swishing idly.
At this moment, Jiang Man wasn’t cultivating; he was circulating the Evil God’s Technique to condense Evil God Power. He needed to continuously absorb the Evil God’s power, assimilate it into his body, and store it. Only then could he unleash his full strength in his next battle. Furthermore, he needed even more Evil God Power to ensure he wouldn’t run out of energy mid-fight. Otherwise, not only would he fall short of success at the final stage, but it would also become a one-way trip to his doom.
If the Bai Family Ancestor died, he simply wouldn’t be able to come out. But if Jiang Man died, he would be truly dead. Therefore, he couldn’t afford any mistakes.
While condensing the Evil God Power, Jiang Man suddenly sensed the Ling Hua Immortal Spirit’s summons. Yielding to the pull, he entered the ruined temple. Inside, the candlelight flickered, as quiet and peaceful as ever.
"That person is looking for you," the Ling Hua Immortal Spirit’s voice echoed from the statue. Pausing for a moment, she added, "The Immortal Dao Coordinate has been exposed for many years now. Although I’ve suppressed it, news of it cannot be hidden forever. I feel we don’t have many years left."
"How many is ’not many’?" Jiang Man asked.
"I don’t know. Regardless, you need to be prepared, or else we won’t even know how we died," the Ling Hua Immortal Spirit kindly reminded him.
Jiang Man nodded, unfazed.
Since a subordinate of a mysterious Evil God was looking for him, he naturally had to go see what it was about. Logically, there should be news regarding the Supreme Heart Hall. He wondered what the other party would demand in return. She didn’t look like someone lacking in Spiritual Source, so she probably wanted information—such as whether the source of the chaos in the Immortal Sects was true or false. That would be genuinely difficult to answer. He would just have to see if he could give half-truths and continue stalling. This information was of grave importance; there was simply no good way to answer it.
Soon, he arrived at the ruins again.
The mist was thicker than before, blurring the outlines of the ruins. That figure was still seated on the high chair, appearing much more dignified this time. Her hands rested folded on her lap, her back straight, and her chin slightly tucked. However, she was just as impenetrable as before—her Cultivation, aura, appearance, and exact figure all remained a mystery.
Jiang Man pondered for a moment before asking curiously, "How should I address you? Which Evil God do you serve?"
Hearing this, Tantai Xue fell silent for a moment before saying, "Are you aware of the Sun and Moon Immortal Path?"
Jiang Man nodded. "You’re not going to say you belong to the Sun and Moon Immortal Path, are you?"
"Naturally not. I am merely telling you that behind the Sun and Moon Immortal Path stands an incredibly powerful Evil God, and the one backing me does not fear him," Tantai Xue said with a light chuckle.
Jiang Man didn’t feel much upon hearing this. After all, he couldn’t defeat either of them, and similarly, neither of them could defeat Ting Fengyin. At the end of the day, his own background was still the most formidable. Of course, the entities backing these people could take action, whereas he could not. Summoning Ting Fengyin could easily trigger some minor side effects.
"So, what should I call you?" Jiang Man asked.
Tantai Xue smiled faintly. "Shouldn’t you introduce yourself before asking for my name?"
"Jiang Man, Inner Sect Disciple of the Wuyun Sect," he replied truthfully.
Instantly, Tantai Xue froze. Her posture on the high chair stiffened, and her folded hands unclenched before clasping together again. She had expected him to rack his brains for an intimidating codename or something similar. Never did she imagine he would be so blunt and direct. She wondered if this was really how he navigated the treacherous world away from home. He could have at least used a fake name!
Now, she was left in an awkward position, riding a tiger she couldn’t dismount. Ever since she met Jiang Man, she felt as though the world had turned upside down. Things shouldn’t be like this; it defied all common sense. For instance, right now—since he had already obscured his appearance, what was the point of offering his real name?
Finally, she looked at Jiang Man and let out a heavy sigh. "Liuchu."
Jiang Man paused in surprise. Liuchu? Was it ’Chu’ as in ’departure’, or ’Chu’ as in ’beginning’?
As if seeing through his confusion, she raised her hand and made a few strokes in the air. Characters formed from energy materialized in the mist for a brief moment before dissipating. Liuchu. ’Chu’ as in ’departure’.
As for Jiang Man, he didn’t bother writing anything out. With how formidable she was, the number of spies she had gathered must be countless. Since he had laid his cards on the table from the very beginning, how could he possibly hide anything from her? Therefore, he just told the truth directly. There was no need to keep things under wraps; it wasn’t like he was dealing with Zui Fusheng.
At that moment, Jiang Man saw Fairy Liuchu take out three envelopes. Wagging them gently between her fingers, she said, "This is the information you requested. Additionally, you can give this to Zui Fusheng as my greeting gift."
As her voice fell, the three envelopes vanished from her hand and appeared right in front of Jiang Man.
Hearing her words, Jiang Man was a little surprised. "It’s also a greeting gift?"
"I have only one request," Fairy Liuchu said, looking at Jiang Man earnestly. "Pretend I never asked those previous questions."
Jiang Man was astonished. Didn’t she claim not to even care about the Sun and Moon Immortal Path? She had merely brushed the edge of that roster; how did she back down so quickly?
"That’s it?" Jiang Man asked.
Fairy Liuchu nodded. "I will also sell this information to other Evil Gods."
Jiang Man didn’t mind this. He hadn’t spent any Spiritual Source anyway, so she was naturally free to sell it however she pleased.
"Is there anything you’d like to ask? Go ahead, and perhaps I can provide you with an answer," Jiang Man offered. Since she was being so polite, he couldn’t afford to be stingy either.
Fairy Liuchu hesitated for a moment. She tapped her fingertips lightly on the armrest twice before asking, "How many other Evil Gods know that the Immortal Dao Coordinate is in Ji Hao’s hands?"
"Only you," Jiang Man answered truthfully.
