Chapter 663: Chapter 353: Mr. Bai: I’m About to Die

Hearing this, Shen Yao fell silent for a moment before saying, "He was under thirty at the time. He’s simply too shameless, using his superior Talent to bully people."

The moment these words fell, silence descended upon the reef.

Chen Jinmu and Zhao Li, who had originally thought Jiang Man was nothing special just because he came from the Ninth Peak, simultaneously changed their expressions.

Hundred Rivers Great Success under the age of thirty? And that was during the Immortal Sect Tournament?

How long ago was the Immortal Sect Tournament? Less than five years ago?

In an instant, the way they looked at Jiang Man completely changed. They wondered, "If she is really talking about Jiang Man, then isn’t he under thirty-five now? Primordial Spirit Perfection at thirty-five?"

The middle-aged man’s gaze landed on Jiang Man. "Briefly introduce yourself."

Jiang Man lowered his head and spoke respectfully, "This junior is Jiang Man, an Inner Sect Disciple of the Wuyun Sect. I major as a Magic Cultivator, and I currently hold a position in the Zhenyue Bureau."

The middle-aged man raised his eyebrows. "You belong to the Zhenyue Bureau?"

Jiang Man nodded immediately.

"Did you join on your own, or did someone recommend you?" the middle-aged man asked.

"I was recommended," Jiang Man answered truthfully.

The middle-aged man was curious. "Who in the Sect?"

Jiang Man looked at him and bowed respectfully. "I do not know, but he said he was True Master Tai Hua."

Hearing this, the middle-aged man narrowed his eyes. The sea breeze blew from behind him, causing the hem of his robe to flutter. He stared at Jiang Man for two breaths before saying, "Not simple."

He did not say anything else on the matter, instead shifting to their current mission. "You should be aware that at the place we are going, a Returning Void expert would attract too much attention, so we need Primordial Spirit Cultivators. You four can keep yourselves concealed. I brought Shen Yao along because her Talent is quite good, and she excels in all aspects. She might be of help at a critical moment.

"Your Cultivation may be higher, but your paths are different, so do not interfere with each other."

Jiang Man and the others naturally nodded.

At this moment, Jiang Man also breathed a secret sigh of relief. He hadn’t expected to run into Shen Yao, an old acquaintance from the Immortal Sect Tournament. If this Immortal decided to target him because of Shen Yao’s words, he would be doomed. While it might not put him in mortal danger, if he was stopped from entering the Supreme Heart Hall, the situation would become extremely troublesome.

Therefore, he had taken the initiative to reveal that he was a member of the Zhenyue Bureau, while simultaneously bringing up True Master Tai Hua’s name. No matter how powerful the other party was, they couldn’t possibly be stronger than True Master Tai Hua, right? True Master Tai Hua belonged to the absolute highest echelon within the Immortal Sect. After all, even Ting Fengyin had praised him a few times. As for ordinary people, Ting Fengyin wouldn’t even recognize them, much less praise them.

"Alright, it is time to set off," the middle-aged man said.

He was the first to ride the wind into the air. The four of them followed closely behind, skimming over the surface of the sea as they flew deeper into the ocean. The seawater beneath their feet grew increasingly darker, changing from light jade to ink blue, while large masses of lead-gray clouds piled up on the distant horizon.

Along the way, Shen Yao used Sword Control to fly closer to Jiang Man, asking him what his Cultivation was now. She stated she was already at the Middle Stage of Primordial Spirit. No matter how fast Jiang Man progressed, he couldn’t possibly be faster than her, right?

She then asked what series he was cultivating this time.

Jiang Man answered truthfully, "I cultivate the Nine-star Series."

Shen Yao’s expression stiffened for a moment. It was another one of those unreasonable series. However, as long as it wasn’t at Great Success, she had nothing to fear. She looked at Jiang Man, the corners of her lips turning up in a smile. "You’re not as strong as me this time. I give you permission to scold me. Insult me however you want—it’s best if you accuse me of having high Cultivation and bullying people. From now on, you’d better avoid my sharp edge whenever you see me."

Jiang Man merely chuckled. He did not say a word.

This attitude made Shen Yao grit her teeth in anger. If Zhou Qing hadn’t been absent, she would have wanted to charge over and fight him to the death. But since Zhou Qing wasn’t there to hold her back, she didn’t dare make a move; if she couldn’t beat him, she’d be the one ending up dead. To think a Sect Cultivator could be so arrogant!

The sesame flatbread shop.

The afternoon sun shone through the window lattices, stretching into warm yellow streaks of light across the wooden tables. There was hardly anyone in the shop, save for a man in white sitting in the corner.

Mr. Bai picked up his bowl, took a sip of soy milk, and set the bowl back down. He sighed with deep appreciation, "The flatbread and soy milk here are truly quite good."

Song Qing, who was wiping the counter with a rag, replied casually, "Then just come by and eat often, Mr. Bai."

"I can’t." Mr. Bai placed the bowl onto the table with a light CLACK. He sighed rather helplessly. "I feel that my time is running out. I’m afraid I will have to leave before long. However, before I leave, I still need to send some people back."

Song Qing paused his wiping and looked up at him. "You are leaving, Mr. Bai?"

"Yes, reasonably speaking, it should be soon." Mr. Bai picked up the last piece of flatbread on the table and broke it in half, watching the flaky crumbs fall into the small plate with a gentle PATTER. He smiled and said, "I was hoping to interact more with your boss. What a pity, there won’t be much of a chance anymore."
