Chapter 665: Chapter 354: Preparing to Kill Meng Qiewei
"Her weak Cultivation is actually to her advantage. She is certain that someone with such a level of Cultivation cannot enter the core.
"This naturally gives you all an opportunity.
"Of course, all of this is based on the assumption that we have found the right place.
"If we are in the wrong place, it might be a completely different situation."
Jiang Man pondered for a moment before asking, "If we are in the right place, can you hold her off, Senior?"
The middle-aged man shot him a deep look. The sea breeze blew from behind him, causing the hem of his robe to flutter.
He fell silent for a moment before replying, "I can hold her off for some time, but since her condition is unclear, I can’t guarantee for how long.
"Judging from the previous battlefield and the fact that this is her home ground, going all out should allow me to stall her for fifteen days.
"If you find absolutely nothing during this time, you’ll basically have to leave.
"My Dharma Seal will also teleport you out when I can no longer hold on."
Jiang Man was also unsure if fifteen days would be enough. They just had to be as fast as possible.
Before they went in, the middle-aged Immortal warned them that even if it was the wrong place, it would still be extremely dangerous and they could not let their guard down. Afterward, the four of them took the lead and stepped into the dense fog.
"You all better listen to me. I’ve read many books in my Immortal Sect, and my knowledge far exceeds yours," Shen Yao said along the way.
The other two men said nothing. It was obvious at a single glance that she came from an extraordinary background. They couldn’t afford to offend her.
At this moment, all they could see was a vast expanse of white fog. Floating in midair, they felt as if they had been abandoned by the earth itself, left completely adrift. Occasionally, the sound of crashing waves echoed from beneath their feet, but other than that, there was nothing.
There was no direction and no end in sight. It inexplicably evoked a sense of endless dread—with no path forward and no way back, as if they would be trapped in this void forever.
"It’s negative emotions. Guard your Heart Spirit," Shen Yao warned.
Zhao Li and Chen Jinmu snapped back to reality. Fine beads of sweat had already formed on their foreheads. They realized Shen Yao wasn’t joking; her knowledge and perception were truly exceptional.
Jiang Man, however, felt nothing. His Heart Spirit was entirely occupied by his own confidence. As long as this so-called despair couldn’t overpower his self-belief, it was completely useless against him.
Finding their bearings, however, was indeed a tricky issue. He considered trying an Array, but the area was too vast and it would consume too much time.
"Follow me." Shen Yao took a Seven-Colored Treasure from her sleeve and held it in her palm. "This Magical Treasure can filter the auras that affect the Heart Spirit. As long as we can pinpoint which direction has the heaviest aura, that should be the right way. It can also act as an early warning."
The Seven-Colored Treasure slowly lit up, its soft halo diffusing into the fog and shielding the group from the emotional hazards.
The others suddenly realized that the Immortal hadn’t just brought her along to make up the numbers; she was actually here to solve problems. Although her Cultivation was on the weaker side, she completely crushed them in every other aspect.
This Magical Treasure alone was probably worth an unimaginable amount of Spiritual Source.
It was good to be rich.
Having determined a direction, they began moving rapidly.
They phased through layer upon layer of fog. After an unknown amount of time, the Magical Treasure’s light grew increasingly vibrant, its seven colors flashing in rotation as if responding to something.
At this point, the group began to feel a shift in their perception. They were no longer just traveling through the fog; rather, the fog was devouring them. The surrounding white mist turned thick and viscous, pressing in from all sides with a sticky, oppressive weight.
Zhao Li and the others circulated their Cultivation Skills, struggling to guard their Heart Spirits. Veins bulged slightly on Zhao Li’s temples, while Chen Jinmu’s hand instinctively rested on the hilt of his sword.
Cold sweat began to seep down Shen Yao’s face. "It’s all an illusion," she urged. "Don’t panic. The moment you panic, you’ll be trapped in it, unable to break free."
She paused for a second before continuing, "Try to think about your moments of triumph. It will stabilize your Heart Spirit. Or, you can listen to the stories of Hundred Rivers."
Saying so, the three of them looked toward Jiang Man.
Jiang Man wondered, "Why are they looking at me?" He spoke up, "I don’t have any exciting stories. I’m different from you all. Your path of cultivation might have bumps, defeats, and subsequent rises.
"But for me, I have always been invincible among my peers, and invincible in the Same Tier."
"Then you might just get lost in your own inflated ego," Shen Yao couldn’t help but say.
Jiang Man scoffed at the idea. How could he get lost?
He thought, "I can’t out-pose Ting Fengyin anyway, so no matter how much my ego inflates, it can only go so far."
"Hearing Junior Brother Jiang say that actually makes me feel much better," Zhao Li remarked. Prompted by curiosity, he asked, "How are you feeling right now, Junior Brother Jiang?"
"I feel nothing." Jiang Man shook his head. "My Heart Spirit is resolute. These things can’t shake it."
The three of them looked at him in astonishment. They wondered if he was being serious.
"Do you not have a single weakness or fear in your heart?" Shen Yao asked incredulously. Perfection of the Heart Spirit—how could that be possible?
Jiang Man shook his head again.
He never believed that these psychological tricks could do anything to him, unless the enemy’s actual physical power descended upon him. As for everything else, as long as he had time, his brilliance would eventually outshine them all.
Suddenly, the light of the Magical Treasure dimmed. The seven colors extinguished all at once before lighting up again. This time, the glow was even and soft, no longer biased toward any particular direction.
This sudden change took the group by surprise. Did this mean they had finally entered the core area?
Jiang Man extended his perception and looked forward in mild surprise. He was just about to speak when the hairpin on Shen Yao’s head suddenly erupted with intense light.
"Enemy attack!" she shouted immediately.
BOOM!
A massive fireball tore through the fog, bringing with it a wave of scorching heat as it crashed toward them.
Zhao Li reacted with lightning speed. Taking a step forward, he threw a devastating punch. The Qi and Blood on his fist condensed into a crimson light barrier, meeting the fireball head-on.
RUMBLE!
The tremendous collision of forces sent a violent shockwave sweeping out in all directions. The group was forced to retreat several steps, the impact churning the fog beneath their feet into turbulent ripples.
