The End of the Immortal Path
Chapter 672 - 356: The Aftermath of Ting Fengyin’s Power
Chapter 672: Chapter 356: The Aftermath of Ting Fengyin’s Power
Jiang Man didn’t stop it, simply allowing the Array to shift. Soon, the thick fog dissipated, revealing him in a clearing. Surrounded by tall, dense trees, the open space formed a perfect circle.
Four stone pillars stood in the clearing, each radiating a unique power and etched with ancient runes. At the center lay a massive Array with complex patterns branching out, using the pillars as its nodes. This Array relied on the power of the pillars at its core. Only by grinding away the pillars’ energy would the Array deactivate and reveal the path forward.
Jiang Man walked up to one of the pillars and ran his hand over its surface, sighing with sudden realization. "So this is the Wuyou Evil God’s plan?"
Anyone else might not have noticed, but he was fairly familiar with Ting Fengyin. He could recognize the other party’s power with just a glance—or two at most. The remnants of Ting Fengyin’s power lingered within the pillars. The Wuyou Evil God intended to use those ascending the mountain to erase Ting Fengyin’s influence. She likely couldn’t enter the Supreme Heart Hall herself.
Withdrawing his hand, Jiang Man stared at the runes, wondering, "I just don’t know if she’s constantly monitoring this place."
If he wanted to leave, he had to do so without alerting anyone. After a brief hesitation, he sat cross-legged on the ground. He decided to sense the aura of this place and analyze the Array. From there, he could trigger the power of the pillars and find a way out so he could return to the Sect.
It all depended on when the battle at the Sect would break out.
Taking a deep breath, Jiang Man began to perceive the Array and the Spiritual Qi. His mind worked to decipher the Array and unlock more of its functions. He wasn’t sure if he had enough time, but he could only do his best for now. Furthermore, he needed to connect with the spatial coordinates back in his courtyard. Fortunately, the connection was still active.
Three days later, at the Wuyun Sect.
Qing Dai stood in the courtyard, watching her mistress drink water at the table. Today, Ji Meng was dressed in practical combat attire, her long hair tied up high. She was fully prepared, without the slightest hint of slackness, clearly aware of how difficult it would be to defeat their opponent.
"Ms. Ji Meng, it’s about time," Qing Dai said softly.
Hearing this, Ji Meng paused with her teacup mid-air. She set it down, the bottom of the cup making a light clink against the table, and calmly asked, "Are you ready?"
"I’m ready," Qing Dai nodded heavily. "But the enemy is likely even more prepared. Even if you and I join forces, Ms. Ji Meng, we might not be able to retreat in one piece."
In truth, neither of them had any intention of retreating from this battle. If retreating was the goal, they wouldn’t have chosen to fight in the first place—this clash could have been entirely avoided.
Therefore, it was a battle to the death; either they would die, or their opponent would perish. The highest probability was mutual destruction, which was exactly the enemy’s ultimate goal. The only variable was that unknown person.
Ji Meng slowly stood up, her robes fluttering in the breeze. The Silver Bell rang with a crisp, clear sound in the wind. Only then did she speak, "Don’t overthink it. The path of cultivation has never been smooth sailing. Dead ends are everywhere; what we must do is carve out a path of survival."
Qing Dai gritted her teeth in indignation. "If you were at your peak, the Bai Family Ancestor wouldn’t even be able to drag you down with him. His only concern would be figuring out how to lose without completely humiliating himself."
Ji Meng strode toward the exit with light, graceful steps. Her clear voice carried a sense of indifference. "Sometimes, only when you look back do you realize your own shortcomings. You also come to a sudden realization that destiny had already begun to rumble from the very beginning."
She reached the courtyard gate and stopped, glancing back at the yard. "The Unparalleled Celestial Pride Fate Chart might not be a bad thing for me after all."
Qing Dai froze for a moment. Although she didn’t fully understand, Jiang Man’s existence had indeed changed Ms. Ji Meng. It had given her emotions she normally wouldn’t possess. Perhaps these emotions would allow her to take a few more small steps forward on her path.
But regardless of the specifics, Qing Dai didn’t care. This time, she would protect Ms. Ji Meng even if it cost her her life. Even at full strength, Qing Dai was no match for the Bai Family Ancestor, but under the current circumstances, mutual destruction might just be possible.
