The Enhanced Doctor

Chapter 1439: Chapter 1439: Arrogant "Repeat Offender
"Alright, now you see, what’s flowing out now is red blood, which proves that we’ve temporarily cleared out the clotted blood inside."
Liu Banxia said after carefully checking.
"Doctor... you’re really going hard," the patient said, forcing a smile.
"No choice, if I’m not tough, it’s your leg that’s going to suffer," Liu Banxia replied.
"We’ll still need to do drainage on the incision later, but that won’t hurt. Let’s recover for two days first and see how it goes. We’ll check your condition when changing the dressing two days later."
"If there’s no improvement, we’ll have to do negative pressure drainage. It’s not very painful, but it will extend your recovery time."
"So let’s try to make this heal faster. As long as the skin isn’t damaged, you’ll still be a good comrade. The dressing will be a bit tighter later, but compared to the pressing just now, that’s nothing."
The patient nodded, resigned to fate.
Even though he knew this was saving his leg, he still felt Liu Banxia was too heavy-handed.
The painful procedures had both been handled by Liu Banxia, and he almost passed out from the pain.
"Let the nurse here know, and tell Old Wu later."
Liu Banxia said as he walked out of the patient’s room.
"Alright, you go ahead and get busy," Liu Yiqing replied.
It was her first time experiencing such debridement.
Most debridement situations she’d encountered before involved open wounds, which were much simpler to handle. Despite being a surgeon herself, she wasn’t confident she could endure the pain like the patient did.
This was quite different from changing dressings for post-fistula patients, where quick work meant just a brief moment of pain. But this one? It’s repeated pressing back and forth.
Even Liu Banxia himself felt bad and was just holding on. When he heard the patient was almost unable to bear the pain, he nearly softened.
But this matter requires firmness. Only then can we thoroughly debride the wound and ensure better recovery for the patient.
"Why did it take you so long to change the dressing?"
Shi Lei approached as Liu Banxia returned to the emergency center lobby.
"An orthopedic patient had blood clots on the tibia lateral side, so we did thorough debridement," Liu Banxia replied.
"Gosh, that’s not an easy ordeal," Shi Lei commented.
"I reckon Old Wu set me up. The dressing change didn’t take long, but he said he was very busy, so he pushed me in," Liu Banxia said with a bitter smile.
"He must have anticipated this, and just tortured me like that. He’s so bad. I swear, next opportunity I get, I’ll extract a pig trotter from him. Otherwise, it wouldn’t ease our anger, right?"
"What’s it got to do with me? That’s your mutual setup," Shi Lei said indifferently.
"I’m talking to you because there’s a more important issue. A patient we received during debridement harassed one of our nurse interns."
"Director Chen just admitted an emergency patient, and Zhou Li is already furious. This matter has to be handled by you. See what you can do, the young girl is still crying."
"Oh gosh, is it the guy who got beat up for touching people?" Liu Banxia asked, amused but frustrated.
"You know? That’s even better, I don’t need to explain further, you just deal with it," Shi Lei said.
Liu Banxia nodded, "Where’s our person? I’ll go and check on her first."
"In the lounge. Anyway, you need to find a way to get justice for her. Interning here is not for being taken advantage of," Shi Lei added fuel to the fire.
Liu Banxia was quite helpless; actually, Shi Lei was reminding him. He knew the emotions triggered by this issue were quite strong. If not handled well, it would leave everyone uncomfortable.
He arrived at the lounge where Zhou Li was comforting the bullied nurse intern.
"You came just at the right time. What do you think we should do about this?" Zhou Li asked him straight away.
"We definitely have to get justice. Our people aren’t easy targets, are they? Is her name Liu Mingyue? Tell us what you think, do we give him a beating or mess with him during dressing or stitching?" Liu Banxia responded.
"Oh, come on, be serious. Liu Mingyue, what do you think should be done? Let Shou Tian stand up for you," Zhou Li said.
She was indeed a bit anxious, even calling out Liu Banxia’s nickname.
Shou Tian was Liu Banxia’s nickname during his training, but now as a deputy director, even Zhou Li, who’s quite close to him, wouldn’t call him that casually.
"Director Liu, I really don’t know," Liu Mingyue said.
"Still, we need a general idea. We both share the surname Liu, so I’m obligated to make him answer for this. Tell me what exactly happened, so I don’t end up unclear when I confront him," Liu Banxia said.
"It was Li Hao doing the suturing over there, with Liu Mingyue helping to prepare, and then that patient reached out and touched Liu Mingyue’s butt," Zhou Li said.
"Li Hao was so upset, he couldn’t continue with the suturing. If it were a genuine patient, we would certainly do our best to treat them. But for someone like this, my suggestion is to have him transferred to another hospital, as there’s already a conflict of interest with us."
Liu Banxia nodded, "Sister Li makes a good point, but I also need to make the situation clear to him and his family, and even more so to the police officers."
Hearing how Liu Banxia and Zhou Li were defending her, Liu Mingyue felt somewhat comforted.
Liu Banxia gave Zhou Li a look, signaling her to continue comforting Liu Mingyue, while he went outside.
"Director Liu, what do you think we should do about this situation?"
Seeing him come out, the waiting police officer asked with a wry smile.
"Ah... how can this person be so bold, daring to do anything," Liu Banxia said.
"Exactly, we just managed to settle the earlier incident, reaching a reconciliation. And now this happens, brazenly making a move again," the police officer said.
"The kid looks quite young; having gone through something like this must have scared him a bit. Should we talk about reconciliation or what? We’ll go by your suggestion."
"I’ve never dealt with something like this before. How do you usually handle it? Oh, and there’s one thing I should mention in advance," Liu Banxia said.
"With what’s happened, even if we switch doctors to sew him up, it’s not going to be easy to handle. He’s already become an enemy of our entire emergency center. To avoid unnecessary unpleasantness, we’ll have to send him to another hospital for treatment later on."
"Anyway, he doesn’t have life-threatening injuries, just external wounds. Delaying the suturing a bit isn’t a big deal. If he stays here, I really worry he’ll suffer more."
"That’s understandable. I’ll go talk to him later," the police officer nodded.
"Usually, it just involves an apology because this doesn’t meet the threshold for a sentence. No matter what, our nurse has to suffer some grievance."
It’s a frustrating situation. We can give this person a lesson, but compared to what he did, it’s still somewhat lacking.
"Sigh... is there no other way?" Liu Banxia asked.
"At most, he can be detained. The previous patient wanted to have him detained. In the end, it was his girlfriend’s constant apologies and pleas that led to reconciliation," the police officer said.
"I don’t know what to say anymore. If it were a moment of impulse, there might be some reasoning. But this was in a hospital, while he was being stitched up, how could he still act like this."
Liu Banxia felt a bit troubled now. Logically, this is a ’repeat offender’ and not deserving of sympathy. But each situation needs specific analysis, and just based on this, detaining him is a bit of a stretch.
He doesn’t understand the law very well. In his understanding, this should count as harassment, but he’s not the one involved either.
"How about this, I’ll go back and ask our nurse what she thinks?" Liu Banxia asked.
"Sure, we’ll go with your decision," the police officer nodded.
Liu Banxia hurried back to the lounge.
"So, what do we do with him?" Zhou Li asked.
"It’s up to Liu Mingyue to decide," Liu Banxia said.
"I just asked the police officer, based on his actions, he could be detained. Or he could offer an apology and reach a reconciliation."
"So, I couldn’t make the decision, so I came back quickly to ask. What’s your opinion, feel free to speak your mind, don’t carry any burden. Here in our territory, we have some say."
Hearing him, Liu Mingyue hesitated a bit.
She’s feeling quite flustered now, hearing about detention makes her think the situation has become quite serious.
"Mingyue, you don’t have to worry about this person coming back to cause trouble again. I don’t believe he would dare to come in again, we’d make sure he leaves on a stretcher," Zhou Li said.
"Sister Li, don’t you think detaining him might be a bit excessive?" Liu Mingyue asked softly.
"But just letting him apologize seems too lenient, doesn’t it?" Zhou Li asked with a frown.
"How about this, we’ll go over together and see how his attitude is. If you think his apology is sincere, you decide. If it’s not sincere enough, I’ll decide, and we’ll just go with detainment," Liu Banxia said.
Liu Mingyue hesitated for a moment, then nodded.
This decision is tough for her; if Liu Banxia helps with the judgment, she feels more at ease.
The three of them went to the treatment room, where the patient was sitting properly.
"Sorry, I’m really sorry, young lady, you can hit or scold him, I don’t know what got into him today," the patient’s girlfriend quickly said.
Liu Banxia frowned because although the person was sitting properly to one side, his expression was indifferent, as if he didn’t take the matter to heart at all.
This was not just a repeat offender, but an audacious one as well.
