The Entire Mountain Is My Hunting Ground
Chapter 609: Black Tiger: 1 Dog Intercepts 4 Pigs
Two legs can’t outrun four, and four legs can’t outrun four wheels.
As Black Tiger ran along the Wood Transport Route with Cyan Dragon and Black Dragon, Jie Chen caught up to them in his car.
Zhang Yuanmin glanced out the window at Black Tiger, who was stumbling along but not losing any speed. He said to Jie Chen, “That dog’s limping, but it can still run like crazy.”
With his hands on the steering wheel, Jie Chen glanced to his right. He saw Black Tiger still wasn’t slowing down, leading the two puppies in a desperate sprint.
As Jie Chen looked over, Black Tiger turned its head to glance back at him, then actually sped up.
“Ha!” A competitive streak flared up in Jie Chen. He slammed on the gas, and the car instantly shot past Black Tiger, leaving it farther and farther behind.
Jie Chen checked his rearview mirror. Seeing he’d left Black Tiger about a hundred meters behind, he cranked the wheel, swinging the car sideways to block the middle of the road.
CLICK! CLACK!
Jie Chen and Zhang Yuanmin both jumped out of the car to block Black Tiger. But when the dog saw them in its path, it veered right and headed straight up the southern slope.
The two puppies, Cyan Dragon and Black Dragon, followed right behind it.
Once on the hillside, the three dogs stopped running straight up. Instead, they cut horizontally across the slope, heading east.
“Fuck!” Jie Chen couldn’t help but curse. He and Zhang Yuanmin, guns slung over their backs, charged straight up the slope after them. He’d only been at Zhao Jun’s place for a few days, but he knew how much Zhao Jun cared about his dogs, especially those two little ones.
But without four wheels, their two legs were no match for four.
Watching the three dogs pull farther and farther away, Jie Chen stopped. “Yuanmin,” he said, “you follow the dogs. I’ll go get the car!”
“You got it!” Zhang Yuanmin answered, pumping his short legs to keep chasing, while Jie Chen scrambled back down the slope to the car.
After Jie Chen left, Zhang Yuanmin chased for another three hundred meters or so before he heard a car horn from below. He knew Jie Chen had caught up.
But the moment the car honked, Black Tiger let out two sharp barks and immediately charged up the slope, disappearing from Zhang Yuanmin’s sight with Cyan Dragon and Black Dragon in tow.
“Son of a…” Zhang Yuanmin was furious, but for Zhao Jun’s sake, he gritted his teeth and kept running up after the three dogs.
In reality, just six hundred meters south of Zhang Yuanmin’s position, a sounder of wild boars was frantically fleeing through the mountain forest.
Four Little Yellows ran in the lead, with a sow behind them. And hot on their trail, eight hunting dogs were in relentless pursuit.
Gradually, White Dragon was the first to catch up to the sow. But it was a lead dog, one that didn’t attack from behind. It first ran neck-and-neck with the boar, then forced its way past to cut the sow off and bring it to a halt.
The moment the sow stopped, Little Bear and Xiaohua, who had caught up, immediately latched onto its hind legs. Da Huang, Flower Cat, and San Pang went straight for the sow’s Haraba. White Dragon and Hua Lang clamped down on the boar’s ears from either side, while Big Fatty bit its snout and forced its head down.
The boar didn’t even have time to let out a squeal of pain. All four of its legs buckled, and it knelt on the ground, unable to even struggle.
There was no struggle, no drawn-out fight. For a sow of over 280 pounds, three dogs like White Dragon, Da Huang, and Big Fatty could take it down with ease, to say nothing of the eight dogs present now.
“SQUEAL! SQUEAL!” The sow let out pitiful cries, but it was completely immobilized.
Six hundred meters ahead, the four Little Yellows were running for their lives. They were wild boars, not roe deer; they had no sense of family. When trouble strikes, it’s every pig for itself.
“WOOF! WOOF! WOOF!” Suddenly, barks echoed from up ahead. But this wasn’t the sow’s pained squealing; it was the cry of a large black dog.
This large black dog was over a hundred pounds, powerfully built with a glossy black coat. It had a round head, a wide muzzle, and perked ears. In the dim forest, its dark eyes shone with a ghostly light, making it look exceptionally imposing.
“ARF! ARF! ARF!” Black Tiger opened its jaws and let out three vicious roars.
The four Little Yellows were cut off by Black Tiger. Already in a panic, they were terrified by its barks.
The Little Yellow in the lead wheeled around and bolted down the slope. Seeing their leader flee, the other three followed suit.
They kicked up dirt and scraped past branches, crashing noisily down the slope toward the Wood Transport Route below.
Seeing this, Black Tiger barked and charged down the slope again, managing to get in front of the Little Yellows and block their path just before they reached the Wood Transport Route.
Wild boars tend to run in a straight line. To turn, they need to consciously decide to, and then they have to make a wide arc to change direction.
When Black Tiger suddenly appeared in front of it, the lead Little Yellow had just begun to slow down. Black Tiger pounced immediately.
Black Tiger now weighed over a hundred pounds. Its pounce was enough to send the ninety-odd-pound young boar tumbling head over heels.
Seeing this, the other three young boars didn’t spare a thought for their leader. They turned and fled across the slope.
The young boar that Black Tiger had knocked over squealed, kicking its legs and sending dust flying. It scrambled desperately to its feet and took off running.
After the pounce, Black Tiger didn’t immediately go in for a bite. Seeing all four young boars running across the slope, it barked twice before leading Cyan Dragon and Black Dragon in pursuit.
After being repeatedly intercepted and pounced on by Black Tiger, the four terrified young boars were running with every ounce of strength they had, squealing as they fled westward.
They squealed, and Black Tiger barked. Before long, they could hear the sow squealing too.
That’s right. Black Tiger was herding the four young boars back!
Up above, eight dogs had the sow pinned down. Down below, Black Tiger was chasing the four young boars.
This family of five pigs was doomed to be wiped out today.
Just then, Zhao Jun caught up. He could hear the squealing of pigs and the barking of dogs up ahead, both growing louder and closer.
For a moment, Zhao Jun could hardly believe his ears. He clearly recognized Black Tiger’s distinctive bark. ‘But didn’t Black Tiger run off along the Wood Transport Route?’
