Chapter 462: Chapter 389: Outsmarted Oneself?

"Captain Han, here’s to our first joint operation. May it be a complete success!"

Wei Shang and Wei Nan led the men of the Right Martial Guard, heading straight for the target location by car.

Han Yang was also traveling with them.

Han Yang smiled and nodded. "By the way, I don’t see the Lord General. Is he not coming?"

"Oh, he’s coming. Of course he is!"

"The Lord General is unconventional. He doesn’t like to ride in the same car as us!"

"But he’ll be there in person shortly!" Wei Shang replied with a smile.

Wei Nan, however, pouted. "If you ask me, he’s just being lazy. I know him!"

"Lazy?"

Han Yang was slightly taken aback and glanced at Wei Nan.

Although they had known each other for less than a day, everyone from the Town Martial Department showed great respect for Lin Yi.

The only exception was this guy, Wei Nan, who seemed carefree and outspoken.

He even seemed to have some complaints about Lin Yi.

He even dared to use the word ’lazy’.

Wei Shang quickly explained with a smile, "I forgot to tell you, Wei Nan and the Lord General are childhood friends!"

"The two of them grew up together, thick as thieves!"

"So, sometimes he doesn’t need to be so reserved when he speaks!"

After Wei Shang finished his explanation, Han Yang finally nodded in understanding.

The men continued their idle chatter.

「About twenty minutes later.」

The convoy pulled to a stop in front of an abandoned factory outside the city.

"We’re here!"

Han Yang smiled at the abandoned factory and spoke to Wei Shang and Wei Nan.

"This is the place?"

Wei Nan’s brows furrowed. Han Yang quickly nodded. "That’s right. They’re all hiding in here!"

"Our police department has issued arrest warrants for them!"

"There’s no place for them in the city anymore. According to our investigation, the remnants of the Blood Handprint are all hiding here. There are about a hundred of them!"

After Han Yang finished explaining, Wei Shang and Wei Nan exchanged a look.

Then Wei Nan laughed heartily and nodded. "Alright, since they’re all here, let’s round them up in one fell swoop!"

"Wait, shouldn’t we... wait for the Lord General to arrive before we make a move?"

Just as Wei Nan was about to open the car door to get out, Han Yang quickly stopped him.

Wei Shang said with a smile, "I don’t think that’s necessary!"

"The Lord General might have other matters to attend to. Waiting for him could take too long!"

"Besides, there are only about a hundred members of the Blood Handprint. We have more than enough people to handle them!"

Before Han Yang could come up with another reason, Wei Nan and Wei Shang had both already gotten out of the car.

Soon, the men from the Right Guard also opened their doors and disembarked.

However, the people from the police department remained in their cars, not moving.

Seeing this, Wei Nan and Wei Shang exchanged a glance.

The two shared a smile and looked back. "Captain Han, aren’t you getting out?"

"Ah? Yes, I’m getting out right now!"

Han Yang quickly agreed and stepped out of the car.

Only then did the rest of the police officers get out of their respective vehicles.

They looked at the abandoned factory before them.

It was completely shrouded in darkness.

Only the faint starlight revealed the rough outline of the buildings.

The factory wasn’t very large, consisting of only three workshop buildings and one office building.

But the place had been deserted for so long that the courtyard was overgrown with weeds, some half as tall as a person.

Wei Shang carefully observed the surroundings.

However, he didn’t rush in recklessly.

He turned back to Han Yang and said, "Captain Han, are you sure the Blood Handprint members are hiding here?"

"I’m sure. We’ve investigated several times and have seen their people coming and going from here!"

Wei Shang nodded and started walking toward the other side of the factory.

Seeing this, Han Yang was dumbfounded.

His brows furrowed deeply. "Is something wrong?"

"No, I just want to see where they usually enter and exit!"

"What do you mean?"

Trailing behind, Han Yang’s brows furrowed.

Wei Shang glanced back at him. "Captain Han, you’re a veteran officer, aren’t you? You should have a better grasp of these kinds of details!"

"Back at the main gate, if people were coming and going frequently, the weeds wouldn’t be so lush and upright. Instead, there would be a small path trodden through them!"

"Even if there wasn’t a path, there should at least be signs of bent or leaning weeds!"

"I just took a look, and I didn’t see anything like that. This means the Blood Handprint members aren’t using the main gate, which makes sense when you think about it!"

"They’re hiding here, so how could they just swagger in and out through the main entrance?"

"That’s why I want to check other areas to see if there’s another way in!"

After Wei Shang finished speaking, Han Yang’s brows knitted together even tighter.

The look he gave Wei Shang turned somewhat hostile.

Clearly, he hadn’t anticipated this, nor had he expected Wei Shang to be so meticulous.

To think he could deduce something even from the weeds.

Han Yang nodded. "You’re certainly observant!"

"We have to be. This is the line of work we’re in. Overlook a single detail, and you could walk right into a misunderstanding, or even a trap. Wouldn’t you agree, Captain Han?"

The speaker may be casual, but the listener hears a hidden meaning.

Wei Shang’s seemingly innocuous words felt like they were pointed directly at Han Yang.

This made Han Yang increasingly suspicious.

’Have Wei Shang and his men already figured something out?’

’If they really know, then the leak must have come from Wu Guo.’

’That old bastard. I should have killed him back then. Keeping him alive until today has proven to be a disaster.’
