The Evil God Summoned by the Saintess
Chapter 559 - 557: Hilia: Are You Guys Crazy?
After changing to a new inn, Hilia hadn’t even settled in when she heard a sound coming from below.
Soon after, a group knocked on her door.
Hilia went to open the door, and a guard wearing the distinctive armor of Dawn City politely said, "Hello, ma’am, sorry to disturb you, we want to ask if you’ve seen this person."
Saying that, the guard projected an image of Hilia from a projector in front of her.
Hilia saw her own projection, paused for a moment, and asked in surprise, "You all... what are you looking for her for?"
The guard noticed Hilia’s attitude was somewhat unusual and said, "Do you know Miss Xilia? Lord Bois is urgently looking for her."
"I... sort of know her, but you still haven’t said what you’re looking for her for."
The guard said, "She has disappeared. If you have any clues, please let us know. We won’t be stingy with rewards."
Hilia hesitated for a moment.
She was pondering a question.
If she proactively went up to them, provided her clues, and then quickly rushed over, pretending she was right there, could she claim the City Lord’s reward?
But very soon, Hilia secretly shook her head, dismissing this idea.
Such a thing was too dull, and she didn’t intend to do something so boring.
More than that, she was curious about why she would ’disappear,’ and why the City Lord would specifically call out a check throughout the city.
After casually dismissing the soldier, Hilia fell into deep thought.
Very soon, she figured out the reason.
"It should be an issue with my timing of departure. Perhaps it was when I let Lord Rose possess me to pursue that Shadow Mage, those two Tier Five heretics also left around the same time."
"Leaving suddenly at that time could indeed cause worry, making one suspect that I was taken by the heretics."
After understanding, Hilia felt a bit embarrassed and was glad she hadn’t acted to claim her own reward.
The fact that they cared about her and spared no expense to find clues, while she was deliberately ’leaking’ clues and profiting silently, seemed impossible for any sensible person to do.
"But the City Lord and the Bishop are really too idle, why make a big fuss to find me, it’s better to hold a meeting to discuss why those two Tier Five mages came..."
"No, those two Tier Five mages came for me, which means..."
Hilia stood up helplessly and left the room.
"I originally didn’t want to go back and play the hypocritical games with those nobles, but oh well, I should just go back and explain."
Leaving the inn, she found a deserted spot near the castle to remove her disguise, then walked straight up.
Very soon, the castle guards reported to Bois, Bois and Flora rushed over together.
Seeing Hilia seemed to be fine, Bois let out a sigh of relief, while Flora ran to Hilia, examining her up and down for a long time before relaxing.
"Thank goodness, Hilia, I’m glad you’re alright, or I wouldn’t know how to explain to Ms Meilina."
In the responsibilities of the Holy Court, those from Tier Four to Tier Six are at the bishop level, with the distinction being that the Holy Court independently sets twelve Archbishop positions.
This position isn’t necessarily held by Tier Six mages, for instance, Alvis specializes in arrays and is only Tier Five, but due to his outstanding array expertise, no one can replace him.
Of course, only non-Tier Six mages need to specialize in a sub-profession; Tier Six mages, as long as they are from the main faction of the Holy Court, can directly become archbishops.
For example, Melina, the head of the Law Enforcement Knight Order, became an archbishop directly because of her Tier Six strength.
"Bishop Flora is too polite, don’t worry, I’m quite safe and won’t recklessly do dangerous things." Hilia patted her chest as she spoke.
Bois came over and asked, "I wonder where Miss Xilia went earlier? You seem not to have used the main entrance, and the castle’s array did not trigger an alarm, that’s why we were so worried."
Bullshit, the Gods themselves used space magic to leave, how could your array stop that? Hilia thought to herself but maintained a smile on her face.
"I was attacked by a Shadow Faction Mage, but he was no match for me. He tried to escape, and I tracked his trail, crossing the array to chase him outside the city, where I finally took him down..."
Hilia knew she couldn’t hide the battle in the castle from Bois and Flora, so she didn’t cover it up and directly explained what happened at the time.
After hearing this, Flora and Bois exchanged looks and also breathed a sigh of relief.
"Fortunately, Miss Xilia was skilled enough to prevent that Shadow Mage from succeeding," Flora said.
"This attack was my oversight. I’m very sorry, Miss Xilia, for frightening you. I will reprimand the castle guards and increase the protective measures to ensure this won’t happen again!" Bois said firmly.
Hilia wasn’t concerned about Bois’ words; she talked about what she encountered outside: "I saw someone searching for my whereabouts on my way back, Lord Bois, please have them return quickly."
Bois nodded, "Alright, I’ll order the search party to return immediately. Miss Xilia, please follow Flora to the banquet hall to wait for a bit."
With that, Bois nodded slightly and returned to the castle to prepare to give the order to recall the searching teams.
Flora looked at Hilia, smiling, "Let’s go back. There was a small hiccup, but it doesn’t affect the continuation of the banquet."
Hilia did not move; she shook her head, "Bishop Flora, I won’t be going. I initially came just out of concern regarding Lord City Lord’s handling of Dusk Town. Although I haven’t inquired about the plan, I already understand approximately how it will proceed, so I’ll take my leave first."
"You’re leaving?" Flora was taken aback.
Hilia nodded, "Yes, I’m not interested in the banquet. I prefer using this time to enhance my strength or make some scrolls rather than attend a banquet."
"I see." Flora nodded and remarked, "As expected of the youngest Tier Four Mage, Miss Hilia’s dedication is something we can never learn."
Hilia was embarrassed.
It’s never necessary.
Flora, being a guest, wouldn’t insist on keeping Hilia. Seeing that Hilia had made up her mind, Flora didn’t stop her and agreed to convey the message to Bois, then watched Hilia leave.
After Hilia vanished, she suddenly realized something.
"Wait, I should have asked Hilia why the Dusk Church is targeting her, to prepare a response... Oh well, let the higher-ups worry about such things. I’m just an ordinary external Mage, and knowing too much would only increase my workload. The more you know, the more work you have."
Flora has understood everything!
