The Evil God Summoned by the Saintess
Chapter 563 - 561: Thank You So Much, Hilia
When Hilia returned to Dawn City, she received news from the bishop that the castle warehouse had been set on fire.
She was stunned.
"What’s going on? Weren’t they supposed to target me? Why did they turn around and burn the City Lord’s castle warehouse?"
Hilia could no longer make sense of the Dusk Sect’s actions.
All she could say was... aren’t they typical heretics?
Just different from everyone else.
The bishop appeared directly to relay the news to Hilia. After informing her, he sternly said, "I suspect this is an overt plot by the Dusk Sect, creating trouble for us to force us to abandon protecting you."
Hilia thought for a moment and found the bishop’s words made some sense.
If that Shadow Mage had discovered the bishop and others’ whereabouts and decided to temporarily withdraw, then their sudden appearance in the city to cause trouble for Dawn City would be understandable.
"Burning down the castle warehouse might be a warning, telling Bois and me that they have the ability to infiltrate the castle and divine hall, and this is something we must take seriously."
"Infiltrate..."
Hilia squinted her eyes and said, "Bishop, if you don’t mind, I can help inspect the Dawn Divine Hall’s array to prevent this from happening in the divine hall."
The bishop was slightly taken aback but then his eyes lit up: "Really?"
Hilia nodded.
"Alright, then I’ll trouble Miss Xilia with this."
The bishop was overjoyed.
He was a Tier Five Mage and the steward of a major city’s divine hall. Additionally, since Hilia had stayed in Dawn City before, he was more or less aware of some of Hilia’s achievements.
Not to mention, her assistance in constructing the Protective Array for Southern Border City caught his attention.
Although he hadn’t investigated how strong the rebuilt array in Southern Border City was, the protective arrays for border cities are generally designed by Array Masters from the Holy Court’s headquarters.
And the fact that the headquarters had allowed Hilia to be the chief designer proved that Hilia’s proficiency in arrays was not low.
Back then, she wasn’t even a Tier Four Mage.
Now, her array proficiency was nothing short of impressive!
What was there to wait for?
The bishop immediately invited Hilia to the divine hall to work on perfecting the divine hall’s array.
Hilia took one look and found some vulnerabilities: "Hmm, there are indeed some gaps, but it’s alright. While these gaps could allow someone to sneak in unnoticed, they’re minor issues. Watch me, I’ll have it done before nightfall."
"Thanks for your help, Miss Xilia."
...
"Tsk, tsk, the castle’s Protective Array is really simple and straightforward."
The two Tier Five heretics, having succeeded, returned to their secret hideout exceedingly pleased.
"Continue?"
"Of course continue. The Deadpool said to let that girl keep the divine object, but with the loss of the secondary Netherworld, it’s clearly Dawn City’s fault. We must at least reclaim the cost from them."
"Where to next?"
"Naturally to the divine hall! Destroying our base wasn’t done by the City Lord alone; the bishop of the divine hall was involved, and they even called in high-tier mages from Huijin City."
"Cough, forget about mages from Huijin City, it’s too dangerous there."
"Hmph, I know."
"When to act?"
"Tonight, while everyone’s asleep, give them a big blow. Hmm, let’s blow up the divine hall’s wishing pool."
"Good idea."
...
By evening, Hilia finished the modifications and testing of the array and said her goodbyes to the bishop.
"Thank you very much, Miss Xilia, for your help. Unfortunately, we have nothing to offer you here, so we’ll inform the Huijin Divine Hall of your assistance and let them thank you on our behalf," the bishop said.
Hilia waved her hand: "You set aside your affairs to help me; this is just a way to repay you. No need for thanks, as long as there aren’t any collaborators with heretics in the divine hall."
The bishop’s face showed a trace of embarrassment as he nodded seriously: "Rest assured, it won’t happen again."
Hilia smiled slightly, not taking it seriously.
Whether it would happen again wasn’t something a single person could decide.
Just as she was about to leave, the bishop took out a card and said, "Miss Xilia, you’re marked by the Dusk Sect, and they are lurking, ready to harm you at any moment. I suggest you retreat to Huijin City, which is much safer than Dawn City. This is a one-time teleportation card for the Directional Teleporter, allowing you to use Dawn City’s teleporter once, as a token of gratitude."
Hilia glanced at the teleportation card, nodded, and accepted it with a smile: "It seems, Bishop, you can’t wait for me to leave, huh?"
The bishop gave an awkward laugh, "Not at all, just concerned about Miss Xilia’s safety."
Hilia said nothing more, waving goodbye.
Rose chuckled lightly, "It’s obvious, the bishop can’t wait for you to leave, fearing you’d stay a few more days and discover something."
Hilia asked, "Is there something unspeakable in the divine hall?"
Rose replied, "Who knows."
This implied that there definitely was, but he wouldn’t say.
Hilia thought for a moment and shook her head.
"Forget it, as long as it’s not a serious issue, let’s not bother for now."
Holding the teleportation card, Hilia mused: "Perhaps I should teleport directly to the border and head to the Elf Empire instead."
After all, the teleportation card didn’t restrict her to Huijin City.
Hilia had taken extended leave for this trip and certainly wouldn’t return quickly.
However, she looked at Rose, waiting for him to speak and decide where to go.
Rose nodded, "To Elf Forest then."
"Alright \(^o^)/~"
Without hesitation, Hilia headed to the Directional Teleporter, using the teleportation card for a free transfer with the teleporter to the Southern Border City.
After her departure, the bishop at the divine hall received the news and sighed in relief.
"Finally left, Miss Xilia in Dawn City put too much pressure on us."
He had heard of Hilia’s exploits.
Clearly, the Dusk Sect were ’very timid,’ but after the base’s roundup, they dared to openly cause trouble, even daring to burn the City Lord’s castle warehouse.
If she stayed in Dawn City any longer, who knew what more outrageous events might occur.
For everyone’s safety, the bishop couldn’t wait for Hilia to leave quickly.
Now that she was gone, he could finally breathe easy.
It was at this moment that he suddenly sensed something amiss; his expression changed as he quickly rushed out, heading to the wishing pool.
He looked at the two individuals who appeared by the wishing pool, preparing to do something but marked by the activated array, and sneered: "Well, you actually dared to come."
The two were bewildered: "You... wait, how did the array activate suddenly?"
"Never mind, just run."
"Did you think it’s a place you can come and go as you please?" the bishop shouted angrily, summoning a magic puppet.
"Or what?" retorted the two Tier Five heretics.
Enemies met again, their anger surged, and the battle erupted instantly.
