The Evil God Summoned by the Saintess
Chapter 693: Hmph, Did You Really Think I Needed You to Escape?
“Where’s Elina?”
“Oh, she broke free and ran away.”
Melina looked at the innocent expression on Hilia’s face, hesitated but said nothing.
After a moment, she sighed and shook her head.
“Forget it, she’s gone anyway. I didn’t expect you, Hilia, to make a reputation for yourself within the Elf Race after disguising yourself.”
“It’s nothing.”
Hilia waved her hand, modestly.
“It’s not just nothing. Although the Elf Race is acknowledged as the weakest on the continent, they are still a massive empire. Our people find it hard to infiltrate and gather information from within. The fact that we get any news is only due to their own loose lips; otherwise, the racial differences, combined with the uniqueness of the Elf Forest, might make them even harder to probe than the Phoenix Kingdom.”
Melina shook her head in amazement.
“In this situation, you managed to disguise yourself as an elf, not only evading detection but also becoming the chosen successor to the Elf King. If you didn’t voluntarily expose yourself, how great it would be.”
Melina felt rather regretful.
Imagine, the king of the Elf Race being actually the Holy Court Saintess in disguise, how explosive.
Even though this secret would typically not be exposed to avoid opposition from the elves, just thinking about it is thrilling.
Unfortunately, Hilia grew tired of the disguise after clearing the Beast Tide, contacted those covertly protecting her, and orchestrated this not-so-brilliant exposure event, revealing her identity to the Elf Royal Court while escaping.
Those in the know are the Tier Six Mages who guard her. Hilia chose not to reveal it publicly, avoiding unrelated individuals from knowing. If ordinary elves were aware, two reactions could occur: either greater fervor for Hilia or heightened hatred towards the Holy Court under the Elf Royal Court’s guidance.
The Elf Royal Court would certainly not let the first scenario happen.
Facing Melina’s regret, Hilia shook her head: “My disguise was for ease of action, not to stir trouble. The identity of ‘Hilia’ would soon be hard to maintain, given the probability of exposure, now is just right.”
The events had already unfolded, so Melina couldn’t say much, just nodding, “Have you successfully secured the Divine Relic?”
Hilia nodded: “Yes, Phil has already left with the relic. I don’t have anything here, she should have returned safely, right?”
“Yes, she’s returned. However, she hasn’t gone back to Huijin City, she’s still at the border, not sure what her plan is. But the Holy Master has presumably arranged things, so it’s beyond my worries.”
Melina spoke, and then gazed at Hilia, smiling: “Hilia, you’re getting bolder in your actions. This time nearly became the Monarch’s successor, next time you might aim to be Emperor. So, now that things here are finished, you should go back and settle down.”
Hilia raised an eyebrow: “What does Ms Meilina mean by this?”
“Nothing much, just come back with us.”
“I can return, but not now.”
Hilia mounted the primal steed (meaning the flying broom), waved towards Melina and the others: “If you can catch up with me, I’ll go back with you, and you can use magic to intercept or capture me.”
Melina was momentarily stunned, just about to say something when she noticed Hilia’s expression turn serious, and then she and the flying broom accelerated like a cannonball, shooting towards the distance like a meteor.
“What speed!”
Melina gasped, then regained her composure, raised her hand to cast magic, trying to intercept Hilia.
However, it didn’t intercept, Hilia flew faster than the magic!
Within seconds, she had vanished beyond the horizon, no longer perceivable, leaving Melina and the others looking at each other.
A moment later, a Guardian Mage swallowed: “At that speed, she didn’t even need us to cover her back.”
“Hm, I didn’t expect Hilia had this escape ability hidden away.” Melina shook her head: “Let’s go back, if she says there’s unfinished business, let her handle it.”
“Not because we’re unable to catch up that we have to go back?”
“You talk a lot for someone who can speak.” Melina glanced back at him.
“…”
Somewhere in the Elf Forest.
Hilia leaned against a tree, slowly squatting down.
The girl’s face was pale, breathless for a long time before finally exhaling and starting to breathe heavily.
Rose’s phantom appeared next to her, smiling: “Wasn’t it someone who vowed not to fly at high speeds afterward?”
“From now on, definitely won’t do it.” Hilia patted her chest, panting, “I didn’t want to do it otherwise wouldn’t have asked them to stop those Elf Mages… If it weren’t for them wanting me to go back, I’d never have asked Lord Rose to intervene.”
After a pause, she asserted: “This is definitely the last time, there surely won’t be any more.”
“Is that so? Then let’s wait and see.” Rose chuckled softly.
After spending some time finally regaining her strength, Hilia took off again.
“Now comes the final test, will the Gods awaken?”
“They will awaken, and soon, within these two days, maybe they’ll come looking for you.”
“Huh? Why?”
“Because of your method to deal with demons, the subordinates don’t know, but Haroldias surely does, he will definitely come to find you.” Rose smiled slightly.
Hilia grew tense suddenly.
She was just about to say something, when she felt the contact from her bracelet.
A thought, and Elina’s projection appeared in front of her.
“Hilia, thank you, I didn’t get a chance to say it earlier, so I’ll make it up now.”
“Why so polite with me.” Hilia smiled slightly, “Are you still inside the Elf Forest or have you left?”
“Still inside the Elf Forest, I plan to leave only after everything is over, and I won’t be going anywhere else for a while, I’ll still be active within the Elf Race.”
“Mm, good luck reaching Tier Six quickly, then you’ll have bargaining chips with the Elf Royal Court.”
“Hmph, they want to control my advancement, no way, I’ll definitely respond! Wait for my good news.”
“Good, hope next time I hear from you, it’s you advancing to Tier Six and not you seen in the Royal Court.”
“Uh…”
Elina made no guarantees, just scratched her head and then changed the topic, chatting with Hilia about other matters.
“Oh, there was someone watching earlier, so I couldn’t tell you, but there’s a message you might need to pay attention to.”
“What message?”
“About the Phoenix Kingdom, while we were conducting the clearing, they showed some unusual movements, and as we were about to complete the Beast Tide clearance, they didn’t withdraw but instead maintained a full alert. Not sure what they intend to do.”
Hilia paused, realizing in her heart.
“I understand.”
