Chapter 107: Winning People Over with Virtue
Chapter 107: Chapter 107: Winning People Over with Virtue
Number Two stared for another two seconds. There was no one in front of him! A chill ran down his spine. It felt as if someone was standing right behind him, staring and smiling, prompting him to swiftly spin around with his gun raised!
But there was absolutely no one behind him either!
He thought, "What the hell! How could a person just vanish into thin air? Did he jump into the roadside ditch to hide?"
Paranoid, Number Two immediately spun back around. What he saw sent a violent shudder through his body, and he instantly broke out in a cold sweat! The young man who had vanished was suddenly back, standing right in front of him!
If his earlier disappearance could barely be explained away as him hiding in the ditch, what about now? Jumping down was fast, but climbing back up out of a ditch wasn’t. Plus, it was impossible to do so without making a single sound! Then this person’s vanishing and reappearing act might actually be genuine Instant Teleportation. He had been playing with him from behind all along!
"You... you..."
As the second-in-command of this crew, he was undoubtedly a ruthless man. Having seen his fair share of big scenes and currently holding a gun, he was practically unstoppable, if not outright invincible! When he first stepped out, he hadn’t taken the opponent seriously at all, regardless of how much brute strength the guy possessed. It didn’t matter how strong or how fast you were—one shot was all it took to take you down!
But now, his confidence had completely shattered!
If this was a Superman capable of Instant Teleportation, what was the point of fighting? Before a bullet could even be fired, the opponent would already be standing behind you.
Zhang Yun had already reached out and snatched his gun away. Under Zhang Yun’s iron grip, Number Two’s hand completely lost control of the weapon.
"M-Master... I-I’m sorry... We were blind and failed to recognize your greatness... We were wrong... We’ll cancel this hit right now!"
The other two thugs, who had been smashed until they were dizzy and disoriented, had just managed to scramble off the hood of the car. Before they could even figure out what was happening, they heard Number Two begging for mercy. This left them completely dumbfounded. They thought, "Didn’t Number Two have a gun? How did it end up in the other guy’s hands? The young man hadn’t made a move, no shots were fired, and there wasn’t even a fight. How did the tables turn so quickly?"
Zhang Yun toyed with the handgun, aiming the muzzle back and forth at the three of them.
The three immediately stood at attention. This was their own real, loaded weapon. It was more effective than any verbal threat; none of them wanted their brains blown out.
"M-Master, let’s talk this out!" Number Two was on the verge of tears.
Although the other two didn’t understand why Number Two was overreacting so much, the mere fact that Zhang Yun was able to disarm him spoke volumes about his strength. They didn’t dare run their mouths either.
Zhang Yun spoke slowly, "This is a job your boss took on. You’re just executing it. It’s just work, and you don’t know the inside story."
"You’re absolutely right. That’s exactly how it is..."
"So, I won’t be able to get any client information out of you either?" Zhang Yun pointed at Number Two.
Number Two smiled bitterly. "We normally don’t handle that side of things. It’s like... we’re just regular workers on an assembly line. We have no idea whose specific orders we’re producing."
"Understood." Zhang Yun nodded, then asked another question, "Which one of you was driving?"
The thug whose hand had been pierced by glass quickly raised his arm. "That was me."
"Since you guys don’t know much, I’ll just have to send you back to see your boss. You don’t have a problem driving through the night, do you?"
Zhang Yun’s amiable attitude made the driver feel somewhat flattered, yet he also sensed that something was off.
"No problem! Are you coming with us to see the boss?"
Zhang Yun sneered. "Is he worthy?"
"Uh..."
None of them dared to speak. They wondered, "Is our boss really not worthy?"
Number Two, however, felt that something was very wrong with Zhang Yun’s behavior but couldn’t quite put his finger on it. He quickly racked his brain to analyze the situation.
Suddenly, Zhang Yun lashed out with a vicious kick!
"Ahhh!" Caught completely off guard, Number Two flew from the front of the car to the rear, crashing to his knees on the ground! That single kick had completely pulverized one of his kneecaps!
"Number Two!" The other two cried out on instinct, panic immediately setting in. If even Number Two ended up like this, didn’t that mean it was their turn next?
The thug whose hands were uninjured was the first to react. He thought, "He just asked who the driver was—he’s going to spare one person to drive us back!" He swiftly dropped to his knees. "Can I just kneel on my own?"
Zhang Yun kicked him squarely in the chest, instantly sending him flying backwards. The thug sprayed a mouthful of blood and crashed into Number Two, knocking him over as well.
The agonized screams of his two companions made the driver’s legs tremble violently. He was so terrified he was on the verge of wetting himself.
Zhang Yun raised a hand and patted his shoulder...
THUD! The driver dropped to his knees and began kowtowing profusely!
"Please spare me! I’ll drive them back to see the boss right away! We’ll definitely make him cancel the hit. And if there’s any client information, we can report it back to you..."
Zhang Yun was left speechless for a moment. "I was just patting your shoulder to comfort you. What are you getting so worked up about? Since I’m keeping you around to drive, why would I break your arms or legs?"
"Thank you! Thank you so much!"
"Load them in!" Zhang Yun pointed at the car. It wouldn’t be good to leave these guys lying around here for too long; it would look bad if the villagers saw them. Otherwise, why would he let this guy drive away? Besides, he needed to transmit this element of fear directly to their boss!
"Right, okay..." The man grabbed onto the car and scrambled a few times, but his legs were too weak to stand.
Zhang Yun opened the car door, then walked over and hauled the other two up himself.
"Got anything to say?" Zhang Yun stared at them, holding one man in each hand.
The two of them swallowed their agonized screams, practically terrified to tears.
"S-say what...?" The man who had taken a kick to the chest instantly coughed up more blood the moment he spoke.
"Normally, in this kind of situation, aren’t you villains supposed to drop some tough lines? Something like, ’We’ll come back and hack you to death.’ Go ahead, say it!" Zhang Yun prompted.
Number Two and the other thug really were about to cry now! They thought, "Boss, you can’t toy with us like this! You’re just tricking us into saying something tough! The moment we threaten to hack you to death, you’ll have the perfect excuse to kill us right on the spot!"
"N-no... We won’t seek revenge. You’ve convinced us with your mercy, and we submit wholeheartedly..."
Zhang Yun shoved the two men into the backseat. With one suffering from a shattered leg and the other from internal bleeding, every bump sent cold sweat pouring down their faces from the intense pain. Yet, neither dared to make a sound, terrified of angering Zhang Yun.
The driver had finally managed to scramble to his feet. Afraid that Zhang Yun might change his mind, he repeatedly murmured his thanks as he opened the door and climbed into the driver’s seat.
Before closing the door, Zhang Yun asked one last question, "Did you really mean what you just said?"
"We meant every word! We absolutely wouldn’t dare challenge you. You’re a master!" Number Two offered a bitter smile.
Zhang Yun closed the door, took a step back, and delivered a vicious kick right to the side of the car!
CRASH! The rear door caved in under the impact. The entire vehicle shuddered violently and was even shunted several feet sideways.
The three men inside the car were scared senseless!
"You’re injured and moving slowly. It’s not safe to get out on this side, so I’ve sealed the door for you. Make sure you exit from the right!"
Zhang Yun’s words made all three of them want to weep. They thought, "You psychopath! As if we’d believe that crap! What do you mean, ’for our safety’? You clearly just wanted to intimidate us one last time!"
"M-Master... Can we leave now?"
"Sure. Stay safe, drive slowly, and don’t drive if you’re fatigued!" Zhang Yun waved them off, as if giving friendly advice to some buddies.
Tears welled up in the driver’s eyes. He thought, "My companions are injured this badly—how the hell am I supposed to drive slowly?"
"Where... where did he go?" The driver suddenly realized that Zhang Yun had vanished.
From the back, Number Two cursed, "Stop looking! Just step on it! That guy can use Instant Teleportation! He’s probably gone back inside! If we don’t hurry up and get out of here, he might just teleport right into the car!"
Instant Teleportation? The other two suddenly awoke as if from a dream. No wonder he was on the second floor one second and right in front of them the next. It made sense why even Number Two couldn’t handle him with a gun.
